Integration of Quantum Error Correction in the BB84 Protocol: A Comprehensive Analysis and Simulation Using IBM Quantum Experience

Rishov Saha, Sujit Biswas, Rajat Subhra Goswami +1 more

The verification of the intricate interaction between a series of quantum error correction techniques and a quantum key distribution scheme also known as BB84, through the IBM Quantum Experience as a simulator, allows for a detailed verification of the immunity of the proposed system to errors and noise. The interaction between the error correction techniques and the scheme BB84 gives rise to a critical verification of their combined impact. The result not only validates the strength of the system, but also makes a big step toward a deeper understanding of how many-protection is required at its best for being efficient schemes of quantum communication. They also analyze the combined strategies, it is showed that these strategies can be used to enhance QKD. It is also significant for practical applications to remove uncertainty and noise. This work provides a reference for the quantum communication application, and supplements to quantum information security literature.

Quantum Key Distribution with Entangled Photons and Error Correction

Jincheng Zhang

This paper investigates a novel approach to quantum key distribution (QKD) leveraging the unique properties of entangled photons and incorporating robust quantum error correction (QEC) techniques. The core claim is that a QKD system employing entangled photons, coupled with advanced error correction, offers provably secure communication. The proposed system builds upon the foundational BB84 protocol, utilizing entangled photon pairs to establish a shared key. However, unlike traditional BB84, it addresses the inherent challenges posed by photon loss and detector imperfections through the implementation of a tailored quantum error correction code. The analysis presented demonstrates the effectiveness of this combined approach in significantly enhancing the key rate and overall security of the QKD system. The paper details the mathematical framework, including the BB84 protocol formulation, the characteristics of entangled photon pairs, and the specific QEC code utilized. The primary goal is to provide a rigorous theoretical foundation for a secure and practical QKD system, addressing a critical need in the field of quantum cryptography.

QKD BB84 Under water With Quantum Error Correction

Juliette Florin, Nicolas Le Josse, Gilles Burel +1 more

Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) in underwater environments presents unique challenges due to the inherent properties of water as a quantum channel. This work contributes to the broader study of underwater quantum communication, with a focus on enhancing the robustness of QKD protocols through quantum error correction (QEC). This study models the underwater quantum channel to assess the feasibility of performing QKD in such conditions. This research aims to enhance the performance of the QKD through additional QEC that should mitigate errors introduced by the underwater channel. We employ an erasure and noise model to simulate the underwater environment inspired by the prior work of Rizk et al. (2025), excluding depolarisation effects, to evaluate the channel’s impact on quantum communication. The findings aim to offer valuable insights into implementing secure quantum communication underwater and demonstrate how QEC can influence the implementation of QKD protocols in such settings.
