Abstract

In this paper, we theoretically propose a hybrid opto-electro-mechanical-atomic system for image storage. Based on an electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) scheme, the N-type cold atomic ensemble captured in an optomechanical cavity is used as the storage medium of a two-dimensional image. The results show that the storage process can be modulated through the cavity optomechanical field. It was found that the resolution of reconstructed images can be significantly enhanced by fine-tuning the effective coupling strength between the cavity field and the atomic system. Numerical simulations have revealed that this effective coupling strength is influenced by both frequency detuning and external voltage in our model. Therefore, we can optimize image clarity by adjusting these parameters. This hybrid system merges atomic technology with an opto-electro-mechanical framework, enabling image storage and laying the groundwork for future developments in electrically controlled storage and enhanced quantum storage fidelity.

Two-dimensional image storage in a hybrid opto-electromechanical system based on optomechanically induced transparency

Yunting Wang, Li-Guo Qin, liteng chen +4 more

We propose a scheme for two-dimensional image storage based on optomechanically induced transparency in a hybrid opto-electromechanical system comprising a cavity optomechanical system and a tunable capacitor. This scheme is a fully opto-electromechanical two-dimensional image storage mechanism that is independent of atomic ensembles. The charged mechanical oscillator serves as the coupling interface between these two subsystems. Analytical and numerical results show that the optomechanical coupling strength in the cavity optomechanical system significantly influences the storage performance of two-dimensional images. When the optomechanical coupling strength is fixed, the storage efficiency can be further improved and optimized by modulating the external voltage applied to the capacitor. The proposed scheme holds promise for applications in two-dimensional image information storage and high-fidelity quantum storage in quantum information processing.

Enhanced multicolor optomechanically induced transparency in electro-optical hybrid system

Guixia Pan, Ruijie Xiao, Chengbo Zhai

Abstract We investigate the tunable multicolor optomechanically induced transparency through electro-optical hybrid system. The system consists an optical cavity fulled with three-level atomic ensemble and two charged mechanical oscillators coupled via Coulomb interaction. Under different coupling strengths, the system can exhibit the phenomena of optomechanical induced transparency increase. Specifically, the number of the transparency windows increases with the presence of charged mechanical resonators and atoms. Furthermore, the induced transparency phenomena are strongly manipulated by the coupling strength between the optical mode and the mechanical mode, or between the optical mode and the atoms and the Rabi frequency, or between the Coulomb coupling between the two charged mechanical modes. It is found that the larger coupling strength between the cavity field and the atoms and the mechanical oscillator, the wider transparent windows. Our approach is feasible for storage of light and has potential applications in quantum information processing.

Quantum memories with electrically controlled storage and retrieval in an opto- and electro-mechanical cavity

Li‐Guo Qin, Zhongyang Wang, Gongwei Lin +2 more

We propose a novel scheme to realize electrically controlled quantum memories in the opto- and electro-mechanical (OEM) cavity. Combining this OEM cavity with the mechanism of Electromagnetically Induced Transparency (EIT) we find that the quantum interference, arising from the two optical transitions of the $Λ$ type three-level atomic ensembles, can be manipulated electrically. Numerical calculations show that the probe photon state can be well stored into the atomic spin state by sending an electric current pulse and retrieved with time-reverse symmetry by sending the other current pulse with opposite direction. The quantum interference with electric controlling is expected to apply to other quantum control aspects.

Efficient images storage via modulating the atomic spin coherence in a N-type system

Tianhui Qiu, Hongyang Ma, L. X. Xia

A four-level N-type cold atomic system is proposed for optimizing images storage based on the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT). Both analytical analysis and numerical simulation clearly show that the application, during the storage time, of an additional intensity-modulated signal field and an additional microwave field can impose an intensity and a phase-dependent factors on the atomic spin coherence in a controlled manner, then the amplitude of the retrieved images can be increased or decreased with an enhancement in the visibility. Our results are very promising for the realization of all-optical information processing of images coherently stored in EIT media in the future.

Double-image storage optimized by cross-phase modulation in a cold atomic system

Tianhui Qiu, Min Xie

A tripod-type cold atomic system driven by double-probe fields and a coupling field is explored to store double images based on the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT). During the storage time, an intensity-dependent signal field is applied further to extend the system with the fifth level involved, then the cross-phase modulation is introduced for coherently manipulating the stored images. Both analytical analysis and numerical simulation clearly demonstrate a tunable phase shift with low nonlinear absorption can be imprinted on the stored images, which effectively can improve the visibility of the reconstructed images. The phase shift and the energy retrieving rate of the probe fields are immune to the coupling intensity and the atomic optical density. The proposed scheme can easily be extended to the simultaneous storage of multiple images. This work may be exploited toward the end of EIT-based multiple-image storage devices for all-optical classical and quantum information processings.

Electrically controlled optical switch in the hybrid opto-electromechanical system *

Li‐Guo Qin, Zhongyang Wang, Hongyang Ma +2 more

To promote the future quantum information technologies, we demonstrate an electrically driven optical switch based on quantum interference in a hybrid opto-electromechanical system, which consists of an opto-mechanical cavity and an external electric circuit. The key element of our scheme is a moveable mirror of cavity as a charged mechanical oscillator capacitively coupled to a fixed charged plate in a variable capacitor. By adjusting the voltage of the capacitor, the displacement of the moveable mirror is modulated, then the cavity field can be electrically turned on or off due to the detuning of the cavity. Based on the cavity induced transparency, the transparency window can be electrically switched on or off by turning on or off the cavity field. Therefore, the susceptibility of the medium in the cavity can be electrically controlled, i.e., the scheme of the electrically controlled absorption switching can be demonstrated. This electrically driven optical switch will excite a development trend and implementation prospect towards the integration and miniaturization of quantum module device in a chip.
