A Description of the Properties of Electrons in an Atom without Mathematical Tools of Wave-Particle Dualism

Abstract

The aim of the work is to show that the study of following properties of electrons in atoms: stability of motion, the Pauli exclusion principle; the effect of electrons state (singlet or triplet) in hydrogen atoms on creating from them of the hydrogen molecule, - can be carried out based on concepts of classical mechanics (forces, moments). The contemporary investigation of topic “The Properties of Electrons in Atoms” is based on concepts of quantum mechanics, in particular on notions of electron wave function having probabilistic character. However, it is very difficult to perform the exact description of deterministic processes from the standpoint of probability theory. It has been proven in this work that description of properties of electrons in atom may be performed with using the concept of virtual photons created by the considered electrons. The concept of virtual photons was developed by Nobel Prize winner R. Feynman in 1949; one of the main properties of virtual photons is their ability to interact with each other by electric dipole interaction. The virtual photon is a unique object: except deterministic characteristic-(electric dipole moment) it has one of the attributes of wave function of the quantum object that created the virtual photon: the size of virtual photon equals the wavelength of this quantum object wave function. This is the reason why the description of properties of electrons in atom based on the concept of virtual photon created by atomic electrons is in accordance with some conclusions of quantum mechanical description of those properties.

From Properties of Virtual Photon to Wave-Particle Duality

Liudmila Borisovna Boldyreva

The aim of this work is to show that the wave properties of quantum objects are determined by the wave properties of virtual photons created by these objects: in particular, the frequency of the wave function of quantum object equals the frequency of precession of spin of virtual photon created by the quantum object. The quantum objects called as “entangled” are objects having equal and co-oriented frequencies of precession of spin of virtual photons created by these quantum objects. The quantum correlations between quantum objects are accomplished by spin supercurrent transferring angular momentum (angles of precession and angles of deflection) between precessing spins of virtual photons created by the objects. The creation of interference pattern by quantum objects passing through a crystal lattice can be a result of existence of two properties of virtual photons: first, the existence of electric and spin components that might interact with the crystal lattice; secondly, these components perform periodic oscillation and the time between two such interactions is a multiple of the oscillation period.

Relativity: photon

И. О. Сазоненко, V. I. Sapon

For the case of interaction of polarized light with an analyzer (a polarizing device), an experimental scheme based on the Feynman idea of path integrals is proposed. Real and virtual photons are considered in the context of the Lenz rule (in terms of constructive and destructive induction). The Planck formula for the photon energy in the format of a verbal description is considered. The complexity of identifying the wave description of the photon with the ideas of the Ancient Greeks about elementary particles is shown. From the point of view of chronogeometry, it is shown that the stationary observer does not exist at the point of intersection of the cone of the past and the future, but in the time interval separating these regions. It is proposed to consider the fluctuations of the physical vacuum as a relic of the process of permanent inflation according to Linde. Based on the assumption of the self-measurement of the Universe, the quantum Zeno effect, and Hawking’s idea of the Universe being a quantum object with the Nth sum of Feynman stories, it is assumed that the history of the Universe is deterministic. From the perspective of the orthogonality of the electromagnetic field vectors E and B, the Heisenberg equation of the form Δp × Δx = ħ/2 is considered. A thought experiment is considered showing the complexity in describing the interaction of a photon with an electron of an atom from the point of view of the classical interaction of an electromagnetic wave with an antenna device. It is proposed to consider the absorption of a photon by an electron as its inertial collapse on an atom.

Mechanics of a Quantum

С.И. ИГОЛКИН

Abstract Fundamental concepts about the structure of matter have been analyzed based on cause-and-effect relations leading to the postulates of quantum mechanics. The interpretation of the characteristics of a vacuum as properties of a universal carrier medium in terms of fluid mechanics has made it possible to select consistent models of the basic objects of condensed matter. The development of concepts of the structure of the photon and electron has been supplemented by descriptions of the processes of their production and transformation. The nature of electric charges and the picture of their interaction through volumetric interference fields have been discussed. The details of the structure of the atom, the sizes of electron orbits, and the internal characteristics of some elementary particles have been clarified. The physical nature of the quantization of matter at different dimensional and energy levels has been determined. The proposed solutions to problems of a quantum can be useful for the range of physicists dealing with problems that are fundamentally unsolvable in traditional terms.

The Wave Properties of Matter: The Physical Aspect

Liudmila Borisovna Boldyreva

The aim of the paper is to show that there is a physical process which could underlie the wave properties of matter. A comparison has been drawn between the properties of a pair of electrically unlike virtual particles created by a quantum entity in the physical vacuum and the characteristics of the quantum entity wave function. Analogies were revealed between the spin precession frequency of pair of virtual particles and the wave function frequency, between the size of the electric dipole produced by a pair of virtual particles and the wave function wavelength, and also between the angle of spin precession of pair of virtual particles and the wave function phase. It is shown that quantum correlations of quantum entities may be caused by spin correlations (by spin supercurrents) between virtual particles created by the quantum entities in the physical vacuum. It is shown that the wave properties of a quantum entity are due to precession of spin of pair of virtual particles created by the quantum entity in the physical vacuum.

The main principles of quantum mechanics

Vladimir B. Braginsky, Farid Ya Khalili, Kip S. Thorne

The wave function Before beginning to describe the quantum theory of measurement, we shall discuss briefly the main concepts of quantum mechanics. Readers familiar with quantum mechanics may skip this section and go on to section 2.2. Consider, as a pedagogical aid, a classical particle that can move only along the x direction. For example, it might be a bead on an infinite needle. If we know at any moment of time the values of two numbers, the particle's position and momentum, then we can compute from them all other features of the particle's motion: the forces acting on it, its resulting acceleration, etc. In other words, this pair of numbers, the position and momentum, completely define the state of the classical particle at the chosen moment of time. Similarly, for three-dimensional motion the state is defined by six numbers: the three spatial coordinates x, y, z and the three corresponding components of the momentum p x , p y , p z . A quantum object, with its dual particle-like and wave-like properties, is much more complex than a classical particle. Interferometric experiments (chapter I) show that the object can be spread out over some region of space, or for the bead on a needle, over an interval of x .

One-electron atoms

Luciano Colombo

We begin our study of atomic physics by relying on the phenomenological notions summarized in chapter 1 and by fully exploiting the quantum mechanical formalism outlined in chapter 2. A hierarchy of approximations will be introduced in the first instance to describe the hydrogen atom, which allows one to focus on the main features of its energy spectrum and quantum properties, including the key ‘atomic orbital’ concept. Next, these results will be extended to the more general case of hydrogenic atoms. The physical picture will be made more rigorous by introducing the magnetic interactions, included those linked to the intrinsic spin degree of freedom, leading to the full description of the fine and hyperfine structure of one-electron atoms. The effects of a static external magnetic or electric field will be eventually discussed by calculating the corresponding energy shifts and splittings of the energy levels.
