Abstract

Quantum computing is still a developing, but an extremely promising area. The article lays out the main ideas behind quantum computing in simple terms. The topic of quantum computers based on qudits - multidimensional analogues of qubits, which have recently received much attention due to their efficiency, is also covered The fundamentals of quantum mechanics, which are necessary for understanding the principles of operation of a quantum computer, such concepts as qubits and qudits, linear operators, the measurement process, etc are introduced. As an example of quantum computing, the principle of operation of the Deutsch-Jozsa algorithm, one of the first quantum algorithms to demonstrate their advantages, and its generalization to qudits, are analyzed in detail. The process of writing the simplest quantum computer emulator in the Python programming language is described step by step. The emulator operates with an arbitrary number of qubits and allows you to apply arbitrary operators to them and carry out multiple measurements of the final state of the qubit. A generalization of this emulator for working with qudits is given after that. To demonstrate the emulator we have written, we present programs that implement the Deutsch-Jozsa algorithm and its generalizations on it, and test them.

Tools for Performing and Emulating Quantum Computing

Pavel E. Baskakov, Yuri Yu. Khabovets, Irina A. Pilipenko +2 more

Currently, quantum technologies are at the forefront of scientific thought. Large corporations are creating their own quantum supercomputers, developing quantum analogues of classical algorithms, and research is being conducted in the field of quantum cryptography. But since quantum computers have not yet become widespread, the question becomes relevant: how can ordinary users, scientists and researchers keep up with the development of science? One possible solution is to use various kinds of tools to emulate quantum computing on a local non-quantum computer. In addition, there is also the opportunity to have several qubits of IBM's quantum supercomputer available. As a rule, such tools are implemented in the form of libraries for various programming languages. Due to the fact that working with real quantum computers is available only to a narrow circle of researchers, emulators are simply necessary to test hypotheses or algorithms. This article examined the most popular quantum emulators used for quantum computing and allowing emulating the process of a quantum computer. Work was carried out to study quantum emulators, to identify and describe their individual characteristics, to make recommendations for a more convenient start to work with them, as well as to describe their advantages and disadvantages. A review of several libraries for the JavaScript, Python, C / C ++ languages was made, as well as a tool with a web interface (Quantum Programming Studio) and a set of tools from Microsoft (Microsoft Quantum Development Kit), the main language of which is Q #, is examined. At the end of the article, a conclusion is made regarding the considered tools.

Executing the Deutsch-Jozsa Algorithm with Matrix Operations

А. Баринов +1 more

Quirk. The research highlights the possibilities of developing and applying quantum algorithms in promising environments for modeling quantum computing in order to increase the efficiency of calculations associated with the processing of Big Data in transportation. The main types of matrix operations used in both manual calculations and in quantum circuit simulation software for performing transformations in simulated quantum circuits. As an example, the Deutsch-Jozsa algorithm is executed by performing these operations, the results of the manual calculation are compared to the results received by executing the same algorithm in the «Quirk» quantum simulation software.

Quantum Computing Simulation

Manju S Nair, Jobin Johnson, Kiran Babu +1 more

Quantum computing is one of the emerging technologies with its immense capability, allowing us to solve computationally challenging problems more efficiently. Gaining a real quantum computer for running and testing algorithms is very costly. In order for developers and researchers to build and test algorithms, they can use simulators that can model the behaviour of a real quantum computer inside a classical computer. Simulating a quantum system on a classical machine is complex and requires a lot of processing power. This paper introduces some basic algorithms and methodologies we used to simulate an ideal multi-qubit simulator in classical terms

Simulating Ising-Like Models on Quantum Computer

Aleksey Andreev, Pavel Khrapov

Due to the complexity of lattice models of statistical physics, there is interest in developing new approaches to study them, including those using quantum technologies. In this paper, we describe and implement a scheme for applying the Variational Quantum Eigensolver to the problem of finding the free energy and magnetization in the thermodynamic limit of the -chain generalized planar Ising model with the interaction of nearest neighbors, next nearest neighbors, and plaquette interactions. The calculation of Rayleigh quotient for transfer matrix is described in detail for . Using special parameterizations of the state of the system of qubits and transfer matrix decomposition, free energy and magnetization are calculated for 3-chain model on a quantum computer emulator. The entire computation process, including quantum computer emulation, is implemented using the Python programming language. Also, a method is proposed for significant acceleration of calculations (by about 10,000 times) on the emulator for considered models. Confidence intervals are constructed for the found characteristics of the model.

Quantum Computers and Their Simulation.

Thomas Lippert

Quantum computing is based on the exploitation of quantum effects to perform some important computations more efficiently than ever possible on classical computers. Well known quantum algorithms are Shors polynomial time factoring algorithm and Grovers data base search scheme. Their potential is due to the parallelism of a quantum computation increasing exponentially with the size of the computing device. IBM has succeeded in building a first working quantum computing device with up to 7 qubits based on NMR technology, however, the construction of large multi-qubit systems appears to become extremely difficult due to the loss of coherence of the quantum states. Like the design process of modern microprocessors which is carried out by means of sophisticated software, modelling and simulation of the entire QC device is even more relevant. Simulation is required in order to understand the functioning of quantum algorithms, to construct novel quantum algorithms, to write quantum programs, to teach quantum computing, to construct real quantum computers, to understand and fight de-coherence and to understand and control the influence of the environment. Since quantum parallelism increases exponentially with the size of the quantum computer, parallel supercomputers are required for realistic simulations. I intend to give an introduction into the simulation of quantum computers using conventional computers. The simulation is based on a generic physical model of quantum computer hardware. Issues like parallel gate level simulators, modelling of QCs, simulators for physical quantum computers are addressed.
