Abstract
We developed an optical on-axis excitation / off-axis fluorescence collection system utilizing direct 3D-printing of refractive elements on the end-face of a multi-core fiber. The fiber-tip optical element is designed to operate as a highly sensitive magnetic sensor based on the quantum state transitions of nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond. The reported optical refractive element is fabricated by direct laser writing and two-photon polymerization. Such a fiber tip mounted magnetic sensor opens a novel paradigm of localized MRI in miniaturized form factor, potentially applicable for biological/medical scenarios.
