Abstract

This work provides a historical overview of how heredity has been understood and a key problem in quantum biology is shed light on: the role of quantum mechanics in point mutation, a cornerstone of evolution. A foundation in core genetic concepts is provided, including the meaning and location of chromosomes and genes in cells, DNA structure, the replication mechanism, the genetic code, and tautomeric forms, mutation types, natural selection, neo-Darwinism. Finally, how Heisenberg uncertainty and quantum tunneling facilitate mutation is explored.

Quantum Evolution and Genetic Mutations

Hossien Hossieni

One of the important problems in quantum biology has been explained in this work. It is the main reason for genetic mutation, which is known as the origin of evolution in organisms. An approach to clarify the main reason for mutation is quantum mechanics. A brief history of genetics, new-Darwinism, and Mendelian inheritance from ancient times to the twentieth century has been presented. The meaning and location of chromosomes and genes in cells, DNA structure, the replication mechanism, the genetic code, tautomeric forms, and the application of quantum mechanics have been described. Finally, we present the importance of quantum tunnelling in playing a main role in the mutation.

Exploring Quantum in Cancer Biology: A Comprehensive Review of Nontrivial Quantum Events

Ali Ayesha, Naeem, Muhammad Yasir, Selamoglu Zeliha +1 more

This study explores the potential of quantum computing as an alternative information processing approach, utilizing quantum bits (qubits), superposition, and entanglement to significantly expand computational capabilities in the healthcare domain. It is evident that quantum mechanics has become a foundational component in the construction of our contemporary physical reality. This scientific field is distinguished by its rapid advancement and the potential to transform various aspects of our daily lives. In this era, quantum biology is of significant importance and has the potential to act as a transformative force, particularly in the field of medicine, specifically in addressing the challenges posed by cancer. Cancer is defined as a complex and abnormal alteration of cells, orchestrated through intricate signaling pathways. This transformation is characterized by the accumulation of deleterious mutations. The concept of phenocopy, representing genetic mutations influenced by the environment, challenges the linear process line of molecular biology involving DNA, RNA, and proteins. Notwithstanding the augmented focus on quantum biology in recent decades, a plethora of unresolved issues persist within the domain of cancer biology, thereby giving rise to unexplored avenues. Quantum theory has demonstrated its ability to explain models related to biological and biochemical processes, encompassing the effects of carcinogens on genes, the mechanism of interactions between chemotherapy drugs and DNA, and the understanding of DNA mutations and defective protein synthesis. Recent skepticism among quantum physicists regarding the fundamental role of quantum effects in biology has emerged, particularly with regard to open quantum systems and the impact of decoherence on the destruction of coherence necessary for significant quantum effects. The document under scrutiny herein undertakes an investigation of recent studies that are rooted in the principles of quantum physics, with a particular focus on the manner in which these principles apply to the domains of cancer biology and metabolism.

Genetic quantum gravity and quantum Darwinism

Vitaly Kuyukov

The nature of quantum mechanics has various interpretations. In this paper we consider the hypothesis of quantum Darwinism. Quantum theory is closely connected with the concept of information. Perhaps there is an analogue of the genetic code for quantum Darwinism. Here the attempt of the genetic formulation of quantum gravity. It is based on the idea of the quantum of the DNA helix in space-time , directed along the time axis. Twisting together all of the genetic spirals creates the very fabric of space-time. Such a mathematical form exists in braid theory. Matter how information is encoded in the genetic DNA structure of space-time. Natural and artificial selection of quantum Darwinism leads to the collapse of the wave function and the identification of a dominant gene.

Quantum Mechanical Mechanism of DNA Forming and Replicating

Jianzhong Zhao

DNA, deoxyribonucleic acid, carrying encoded genetic information at molecular level, is the most significant discovery in the history of genetics. Previous researches on DNA included topics of bases, base-pairing, hydrogen bonds, structure, base sequence, dynamics, replication and mutation. DNA must duplicate itself, and so DNA structure and DNA replication are the fundamental problems. Watson and Crick described the structure and the mechanism for replication of DNA. Other authors focused their studies on DNA replication. DNA molecules are micro-entities ruled by laws of quantum mechanics, but the mechanisms, found previously of DNA forming and replicating, were not explored by applying quantum mechanics. Here we show that controlled by quantum mechanics, the quantum state of DNA is a bio-quantum-entangled state, the mechanism of DNA forming and replicating is a process of bio-quantum entangling, de-entangling and re-entangling. This bio-quantum mechanical result is different from the conventional biochemical descriptions of DNA structure and replication. DNA genetics is bio-quantum genetics in nature. With this deep understanding, reform and progress should be expected for further development of genetics.

Some Properties DNA from the Point of View the Quantum Information

Mehdi Mirzaee, Milad Falahat chian

Molecules are the basis of life. They can consider as a quantum system. So it is necessary to enter quantum mechanics in biological discussion. Specifically, we should expect the quantum to be the basis for heredity, genetic, biology and DNA. In this paper we consider the DNA molecules as a quantum system. We discuss about the relation between the heredity, biology and DNA and quantum systems. We also claim that there is a relation between the quantum information and some biologicaly-process such as cell division, cloning so that we think that the root of all problems in cloning may be in the quantum effects.

When cancer meets quantum mechanics.

Morris Laster, Imad Matouk, Yakov Fellig +1 more

To date, classical deterministic Newtonian physics has been used by biologists to describe living processes. However, it is increasingly appreciated that the probabilistic view offered by quantum mechanics more accurately describes the behavior of atoms and materials in all systems. Here, we discuss how the concepts of quantum mechanics can be applied to biological processes involved in cancer. We present a concise summary inspired by Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle to describe our «Genetic Environmental Field Hypothesis». Combining the uncertainties of genetic changes as expressed by epigenetic changes and/or somatic mutations with the uncertainties of environmental changes, cells may become cancerous as a way to increase entropy. Throughout the paper we will utilize the H19 gene system as an example. Using the concepts of quantum mechanics to describe oncological processes may provide novel directions in our understanding of cancer.
