Abstract

In Our daily life we are getting very much dependent on Internet or Virtual Reality. They are nothing but an illusion of a Cyberspace. It has effect on our every aspect of life, like Education, Sports, and Health etc. We are using the term Cryptography which is the science of using mathematics to encrypt and decrypt data. We had used various Encryption standards in back days namely, DES, AES, RSA, Elliptical AES etc. But nowadays we are using Quantum Cryptography for this. It is nothing but use of Physics (mainly Quantum Physics) for Encrypting the data. In this Research paper we will mainly focus on the new approaches that come in the path of Quantum Cryptography. We will also view some interaction of Quantum Cryptography in future Internet services. Quantum computing is yet to be explored but still the explored part has the capabilities to counter the “alien” hacking protocols if tested over any System. Older System were using protocols like RSA, AES, DES even some of them are more capable than our need, but the use of QC will not only secure the systems but there are major chances that eavesdropper got caught while eavesdropping. Also QC is a pathway to secure communication. This paper includes the review of older state of Quantum Cryptography which will give us information about QKD algorithms and its protocol and we will also overview on its risk and security features. We will also provide a glimpse of current various works going in various Educational Institutions.

The security of quantum cryptography

Justin C. Miller

A common desire in today's world is that of security. Whether it is keeping your e-mail private or stopping the government from hacking into your computer, the idea behind cryptography is to communicate between two parties in different locations, and to secure this information from outsiders. During the last half century there have been numerous advances in encryption schemes and also in the machines that process such information. Modern encryption algorithms have become increasingly more complex with advances in computers and technology, and encryption algorithms such as RSA and DES have been presented as algorithms that have remained secure for decades. These recent advances in encryption schemes will be examined in the first part of this paper. On the other hand, because the security of classical ciphers relies on the secrecy of a key, advances in research and computing may begin to compromise the security of these cryptosystems, as quantum computers would be capable of mathematical calculations that could break many modern encryption algorithms. Unlike classical cryptosystems, quantum cryptography obeys the laws of quantum physics, resulting in a much stronger, provable security. Many great advances have come in recent decades, and the latter part of this paper deals with these advances as well as the phenomena of quantum physics, the evolution of quantum computing, and the study of quantum cryptography.

Quantum Cryptography

Shashi Bhushan

In today’s world, security in data communication has become a top-most priority in every organization. In general, cryptography is defined as the methodology to ensure data is secure by employing suitable encryption and decryption techniques. On the transmitter side, the original message is encrypted using a key. Then the encrypted data is decrypted with the duplicate key at the receiver side as per the accepted protocol between the two parties. In conventional cryptographic techniques, eavesdropping is prevented from accessing the contents of encrypted message by employing certain mathematical function and techniques, but this security methodology does not guarantee any key security. In many scenarios, a secure communication link is established by using a key, but a third party with a bad intent may steal the session keys, giving rise to data security, getting compromised. So in this regard, quantum cryptography is a better alternative when it comes to data security integrity. In this research, a detail about quantum cryptography is elaborated on, and also discussed are various concepts like single photon protocol, loss of data in quantum computing, how quantum is affecting computer communication systems. In conventional cryptographic methodology of data transmission and reception, there is always a probability of eavesdropping leading to the compromising of data integrity and security. The solution to this problem can be obtained by integrating the quantum cryptographic technique with data at the sender as well as the receiver, to detect and minimize various errors by employing suitable bit error scheme. This involves the usage of programming language specific to quantum computing like qcl and quipper to achieve efficient encryption and decryption with faster processing capability.

Quantum Cryptography - The Future of Communication and Internet Security

Kumari Neha, Amrita Amrita

Cyberspace has become the most popular carrier of information exchange in every corner of our life, which is beneficial for our life in almost all aspects. With the continuous development of science and technology, especially the quantum computer, cyberspace security has become the most critical problem for the Internet in near future. In this paper, we focus on analyzing characteristics of the quantum cryptography and exploring its advantages of it in the future Internet. It is worth noting that we analyze the quantum key distribution (QKD) protocol in the noise-free channel. To include real practical stimulators, there are developed various QKD Schemes for the noisy channels. Here we develop the unconditional security of quantum cryptography theoretically, which is suitable for the Internet as ever-increasing challenges are inevitable in the future. Quantum key distribution (QKD) uses individual light quanta in quantum superposition states to guarantee unconditional communication security between distant parties. In practice, the achievable distance for QKD has been limited to a few hundred kilometers, due to the channel loss of fibers or terrestrial free space that exponentially reduced the photon rate. Also experimentally it is proved that the Satellite-based QKD promises to establish a global-scale quantum network by exploiting the negligible photon loss and decoherence in the empty space. In this paper, we also give some introduction to various public-key cryptography and also touch on the various functions, advantages, and disadvantages of quantum cryptography and the need for quantum cryptography in the future as in data encoding, and digital signatures, and many more. It also covers the various securities issue of our current cryptography system. Different protocols BB84 i.e., the first QKD protocol also some other protocols, and finally the future directions of quantum cryptography followed by the conclusion of the paper.

A Review on Quantum Cryptography Technology

Piya Techateerawat

Nowadays, the information is exchanged among the computer network. These data and information are involved in business, military, academic education, research and etc. which are shared around the world in both private and public network. Since, many categories of data are required restriction on authorization of access, modify, delete and insert, security in communication is increasingly important to the network communication. Currently, computer security applies mathematic theory to computer security for encrypting and decrypting on both sender and receiver. To use security attack with high performance computer (e.g. quantum computer), attacker can find a key and then obtains the data in feasible period. Quantum cryptography is one of the solutions that use property of polarization to ensure that transmitted data is not trapped by eavesdropper. Quantum cryptography is improved significantly in the last decades including the most two dominant protocol BB84 and BB92.

In recent years Quantum Cryptography gets more attention as well as becomes most promising cryptographic field for faster, effective and more secure communications. Quantum Cryptography is an art of science which overlap quantum properties of light under quantum mechanics on cryptographic task instead of current state of algorithms based on mathematical computing technology. Major algorithms for public key encryption and some digital signature scheme such as RSA, El Gamal cryptosystem, hash function are vulnerable at quantum adversaries. Most of the factoring problem can be broken by Shore's algorithm and quantum computer threatens other hand discrete logarithm problem. Our paper describes why modern cryptography contributes quantum cryptography, security issues and future goals of modern cryptography.

HOW IS QUANTUM CRYPTOGRAPHY USED FOR SECURE FINANCIAL TRANSACTIONS

Sanwar Ali, Waleed Farag

In recent years quantum physicists have proposed a new type of cryptosystem known as quantum cryptography (QC) which has proven promising for online security in public key infrastructure (PKI). Researchers are now examining QC as a possible alternative to classical encryption algorithms, such as AES, RSA. Unlike many classical encryption algorithms, QC does not depend on factoring large integers into their primes but on the fundamental principles of quantum physics. It is more secure because an intruder will never be able to replicate a photon to recreate the key. QC allows the exchange of cryptographic keys, a method known as quantum key distribution (QKD), whose security is guaranteed by quantum physics. Any eavesdropping will change the state of the photon that will alarm the user of the presence of hacking. Once cryptographic keys have been exchanged, strong cryptographic algorithms are used to encrypt and decrypt the flow of data transmitted over an optical fiber. QC would allow users to overcome the vulnerabilities of public key cryptography. The paper reviews the systematic and chronological development of QC, pioneering methods of QKD, QKD products, secure quantum networks, and finally how QC has been used to securely transfer funds in Europe.
