High bit rate secure FSO system utilizing Hill coding

Adil Fadhil Mushatet, Elaf A. Fadil, Essam N. Abdulla

Abstract To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first to build a secure free space optical communication system with a high bit rate of 80 Gb/s wavelength division multiplexing using a Hill coding cipher. The signal message was encrypted by applying an algorithm secure coding. According to the obtained results, in the event of favorable weather (fog), the link distance was about 4.4 km. The link distance was degraded in the bad weather (dust) to become 1.4. Furthermore, the suggested system has a communication merit (bitrate product repeater distance) of roughly 352 Gb/s km in fog conditions and 112 Gb/s km in dust conditions. This is regarded as the highest communication merit when compared to prior attempts and investigations. The effectiveness of the proposed encryption cipher has also been evaluated by a revision of various security studies, key space, correlations, histogram analyses, and results comparison with other alternative approaches. When compared to earlier studies and researches, this is thought to have the best communication merit. In addition, According to the outcomes, integrating cryptographic encryption and decryption methods into FSO systems maintained data security and offered resistance to eavesdropping assaults.

A Realizable Quantum Three-Pass Protocol Authentication Based on Hill-Cipher Algorithm

Alharith A. Abdullah, Rifaat Z. Khalaf, Mustafa Riza

A realizable quantum three-pass protocol authentication based on Hill-cipher algorithm is presented by encoded and decoded plaintext using classical Hill-cipher algorithm. It is shown that the encoded message transferred to the particles called quantum state where we assumed that a photon is used as a qubit and after the encoded message is transferred into photons, the polarization of each photon is rotated by an angle θj , which is chosen randomly for each qubit. The sender and receiver agree over a Hill-cipher key, the encryption occurs by utilization of the quantum three-pass protocol (QTPP), the decryption will be illustrated, and an example shows how the algorithm will work. Finally, the security of this algorithm is analyzed in detail.

A novel transceiver of the Y-00 quantum stream cipher with the randomization technique for optical communication with higher security performance

Fumio Futami, Kentaro Kato, Osamu Hirota

For protecting physical layer of optical fiber communication systems, quantum stream cipher called Y-00 and Alpha-Eta is promising. So far, we demonstrated secure and high speed optical fiber communication experiments using Y-00 quantum stream cipher. Our theoretical research revealed that the randomization techniques could enhance the security performance. In this work, we fabricated a novel Y-00 transceiver for GbE where the randomization technique was implemented. The transceiver employed the optical intensity modulated Y-00 quantum stream cipher with intensity levels of 4096. An appropriately designed irregular mapping as the randomization technique was experimentally demonstrated. The transceiver was successfully applied to secure optical fiber transmission of GbE signals.
