Research progress in physics foundation for quantum information

ChuanFeng LI, KaiMin DUAN

The combination of quantum mechanics and information science results in the quantum information science. Now, conversely, the progress in quantum information field promotes the progress of quantum physics. Here, we review some recent research progress in physics foundation for quantum information, including the concept of quantum correlation and its application, entanglement-assisted entropic uncertainty principle, environmental control and quantitative research of non-Markonianity in dynamics of open quantum systems.

Photonic quantum information: science and technology

Shigeki Takeuchi

Recent technological progress in the generation, manipulation and detection of individual single photons has opened a new scientific field of photonic quantum information. This progress includes the realization of single photon switches, photonic quantum circuits with specific functions, and the application of novel photonic states to novel optical metrology beyond the limits of standard optics. In this review article, the recent developments and current status of photonic quantum information technology are overviewed based on the author's past and recent works.

Quantum entangled photon sources and their application to quantum metrology

Shigeki Takeuchi

Quantum information science has been attracting significant attention recently. It harnesses the intrinsic nature of quantum mechanics such as quantum superposition, the uncertainty principle, and quantum entanglement to realize novel functions. Recently, quantum metrology is emerging as another appealing application of quantum information science. In this talk, we will report our recent progresses on the development of novel quantum entangled-photon sources and application to quantum measurements.
