The one-dimensional Hulthén potential in the quantum phase space representation

Jerzy Stanek

Abstract The analytic expression of the Wigner function for bound eigenstates of the Hulthén potential in quantum phase space is obtained and presented by plotting this function for a few quantum states. In addition, the correct marginal distributions of the Wigner function in spherical coordinates are determined analytically.

Wigner function for the radial equation of the Coulomb problem in Langer space

J Stanek, Jerzy Konarski

In this paper a theoretical study of the Coulomb problem in quantum phase-space is reported. The Langer coordinate transformation is used to map the Coulomb problem into a one-dimensional Morse oscillator. As a result the Wigner distribution functions for the Morse oscillator are obtained. The form of these functions is presented for a few principal quantum number n and the angular momentum quantum number l . The results obtained correspond to the solution of the Coulomb problem in the spherical coordinate system.

Wigner distribution of a general angular-momentum state: Applications to a collection of two-level atoms

Jonathan P. Dowling, G. S. Agarwal, Wolfgang P. Schleich

The general theory of quantum angular momentum is used to derive the unique Wigner distribution function for arbitrary angular-momentum states. We give the explicit distribution for atomic angular-momentum Dicke states, coherent states, and squeezed states that correspond to a collection of N two-level atoms. These Wigner functions W(\ensuremath{\theta},cphi) are represented as a pseudoprobability distribution in spherical phase space with spherical coordinates \ensuremath{\theta} and cphi on the surface of a sphere of radius \ensuremath{\Elzxh} \ensuremath{\surd}j(j+1) where j is the total angular-momentum eigenvalue.
