Scientific Rationality and Liberalism

Kejia Chen

Both F. A. Hayek and K. Popper are important and famous liberals in the twentieth century. Though their viewpoints about scientific rationality and its relation to freedom are quite different from each other, their complementary interpretations of quantum mechanics illustrate a kind of conforma-bility between the inner spirit of science and liberalism. Starting with a complementary view, N. Bohr makes a comprehensive and precise explanation of the new epistemological situation caused by quantum mechanics. The extension of the complementary viewpoint to other cognitive areas is completely different from the spread of causal determinism that is based on Newtonian mechanics.

Epistemological remarks about the Ghirardi-Rimini-Weber quantum theory

de Stefano, Francesco

We discuss the epistemological features of the Ghirardi, Rimini and Weber proposal to modify quantum mechanics in order to overcome the objectification problem, that means the transition between the quantum and the classical level of description of natural phenomena. We shall show that the GRW is a realistic theory, but in a way quite different from Einstein realism or other kinds of realism proposed in the past, such as the Many World Interpretation or the Bohmian Mechanics.

The Significant Reform of New Measurement Viewpoint——Comment on Cheng Su-mei' Measurement Philosophy

Han Feng

Relative Viewpoint caused by the problems of Quantum Mechanics is a kind of Measurement Philosophy, which is put forward by professor Cheng Su-mei and a group of contemporary scientists and science-philosophers through observation to facts then progressed to the degree of philosophy. It has a revolutionary significance both in subjectively and in objectively. This thesis analyzed the difference between the Relative Viewpoint and the classical Absolute Viewpoint, indicating that it is consistent with The Theory of Observocontrol Relativity.
