Coherent States for infinite homogeneous waveguide arrays.

Abstract

Perelomov coherent states for equally spaced, infinite homogeneous waveguide arrays with Euclidean E(2) symmetry are defined, and new resolutions of the identity are constructed in Cartesian and polar coordinates. The key point to construct these resolutions of the identity is the fact that coherent states satisfy Helmholtz equation (in coherent states labels) an thus a non-local scalar product with a convolution kernel can be introduced which is invariant under the Euclidean group. It is also shown that these coherent states for the Eucliean E(2) group have a simple and natural physical realization in these waveguide arrays.

Coherent states for infinite homogeneous waveguide arrays: Cauchy coherent states for E(2)

Julio Guerrero, Francisco F. López-Ruiz

Perelomov coherent states for equally spaced, infinite homogeneous waveguide arrays with Euclidean [Formula: see text] symmetry are defined and a new resolution of the identity is obtained. The key point to construct this novel resolution of the identity is the fact that coherent states satisfy the Helmholtz equation (in coherent states labels), and thus every coherent state belongs to a one-parameter family uniquely determined by the Cauchy initial data of the coherent state in a one-dimensional Cauchy set. For this reason we call Cauchy coherent states to these initial data. The novel, nonlocal resolution of the identity in terms of Cauchy coherent states is provided using frame theory. It is also shown that Perelomov coherent states for the Euclidean [Formula: see text] group have a simple and natural physical realization in these waveguide arrays.

Coherent states for equally spaced, homogeneous waveguide arrays

J A Guerrero, H. M. Moya-Cessa

Coherent states for equally spaced, homogeneous waveguide arrays are defined, in the infinite, semiinfinite and finite cases, and resolutions of the identity are constructed, using different methods. In the infinite case, which corresponds to Euclidean coherent states, a resolution of the identity with coherent states on the circle and involving a nonlocal inner product is reviewed. In the semiinfinite case, which corresponds to London coherent states, various construction are given (restricting to the circle with a non-local scalar product, rescaling the coherent states, modifying them, or using a non-tight frame). In the finite case, a construction in terms of coherent states on the circle is given, and this construction is shown to be a regularization of the infinite and semiinfinite cases.

Coherent states over symplectic homogeneous spaces

Stephan De Bièvre

A generalization of the Perelomov procedure for the construction of coherent states is proposed. The new procedure is used to construct systems of coherent states in the carrier spaces of unitary irreducible representations of groups G=S∅V, where V is a vector space and S⊂GL(V). The coherent states are shown to be labeled by the points in cotangent bundles T*𝒪* of orbits 𝒪* of S in V*, the dual of V; it is proven that T*𝒪* is a symplectic homogeneous space of G. The generalized procedure for the construction of coherent states presented in this paper is shown to encompass as special cases the constructions known in the literature for the coherent states of the Weyl–Heisenberg, the ‘‘ax+b,’’ and the Galilei and Poincaré groups. Moreover, completely new sets of coherent states are constructed for the Euclidean group E(n), where the Perelomov construction fails.

Quantizations on the circle and coherent states

G Chadzitaskos, P Luft, J Tolar

We present a possible construction of coherent states on the unit circle as configuration space. Our approach is based on Borel quantizations on S 1 including the Aharonov–Bohm-type quantum description. Coherent states are constructed by Perelomov's method as group-related coherent states generated by Weyl operators on the quantum phase space . Because of the duality of canonical coordinates and momenta, i.e. the angular variable and the integers, this formulation can also be interpreted as coherent states over an infinite periodic chain. For the construction, we use the analogy with our quantization and coherent states over a finite periodic chain where the quantum phase space was . The coherent states constructed in this work are shown to satisfy the resolution of unity. To compare them with canonical coherent states, some of their further properties are also studied demonstrating similarities as well as substantial differences. Coherent States on Spheres

Brian C. Hall, Jeffrey J. Mitchell, Jeffrey +1 more

Abstract. We describe a family of coherent states and an associated resolution of the identity for a quantum particle whose classical configuration space is the d-dimensional sphere S d. The coherent states are labeled by points in the associated phase space T ∗ (S d). These coherent states are not of Perelomov type but rather are constructed as the eigenvectors of suitably defined annihilation operators. We describe as well the Segal–Bargmann representation for the system, the associated unitary Segal–Bargmann transform, and a natural inversion formula. Although many of these results are in principle special cases of the results of B. Hall and M. Stenzel, we give here a substantially different description based on ideas of T. Thiemann and of K. Kowalski and J. Rembieliński. All of these results can be generalized to a system whose configuration space is an arbitrary compact symmetric space. We focus on the sphere case in order to carry out the calculations in a self-contained and explicit way.

Coherent states on spheres
