Abstract

In order to solve the security problem in the downlink untrusted UAV multi-relay system, a joint power allocation and relay selection scheme with hardware impairment is proposed. In this scheme, cooperative jamming technology is applied to the untrusted UAV relay system. Firstly, the power allocation coefficient of artificial noise used for cooperative jamming at the source node is optimized, and then the UAV relay selection is carried out under this condition to maximize the system security capacity. According to the model analysis, the secrecy performance of the system is analyzed from the perspective of the ergodic secrecy rate and secrecy outage probability, and the Monte Carlo simulations are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme by comparing with the traditional power allocation and relay selection schemes.

Joint Power Allocation and Relay Selection Scheme in Multiple Untrusted Relay Networks

Wanying Su, Rugui Yao, Ye Fan +3 more

Untrusted relays might decode the information while forwarding it and lead to threaten the security of the system in some realistic scenarios. The aim of the paper is to maximize the secrecy performance, and therefore on the ground of the cooperative jamming, we propose a novel power allocation-relay selection program in a multi-untrusted relay network where numerous antennas are equipped in the source and the destination simultaneously. Besides, we allow an optimal application of the power allocation factor and the proper selection of the relays, which makes the Ergodic Secrecy Rate (ESR) increased directly. Moreover, the closed-form expressions of the ESR in different scenarios to measure the secrecy performance are acquired. It can be known that the simulation results of the ESR are compliant with the theoretical, especially when Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) is low. Apart from this, the ESR in theoretical values are tested to be approximately equal to the simulation. Compared to other relay selection strategies like partial selection strategy and the Max-Min (MM) selection strategy, the scheme proposed here can get the secrecy performance strengthen better.

Optimal Relay Selection for Physical Layer Security with Cooperative Jamming

Lijun Jia

This paper studies a scheme of optimal relay selection with cooperative jamming and optimal power allocation factor between forwarding relay and jammer. The traditional optimal relay selection scheme selects an optimal relay node to assist forward source information.Based on legitimate user and eavesdropper instantaneous channel state information, the proposed scheme selects two relay nodes to increase security against eavesdropper. The first relays to forward source information as traditional scheme. The second relays to send artificial noise as a friendly jammer. The relay operates in Decode-and-Forward strategy. The closed form expression of secrecy outage probability is derived. In addition, the optimal power allocation factor is given when the total relay transmit power is constrained. The simulation results verify that the proposed scheme can significantly improve system security performance compared with the traditional scheme.,

Joint Relay Selection and Power Allocation in Large-Scale MIMO Systems with Untrusted Relays and Passive Eavesdroppers

Ali Kuhestani, Abbas Mohammadi, Mohammadali Mohammadi

In this paper, a joint relay selection and power allocation (JRP) scheme is proposed to enhance the physical layer security of a cooperative network, where a multiple antennas source communicates with a single-antenna destination in the presence of untrusted relays and passive eavesdroppers (Eves). The objective is to protect the data confidentially while concurrently relying on the untrusted relays as potential Eves to improve both the security and reliability of the network. To realize this objective, we consider cooperative jamming performed by the destination while the JRP scheme is implemented. With the aim of maximizing the instantaneous secrecy rate, we derive a new closed-form solution for the optimal power allocation and propose a simple relay selection criterion under two scenarios of non-colluding Eves (NCE) and colluding Eves (CE). For the proposed scheme, a new closed-form expression is derived for the ergodic secrecy rate (ESR) and the secrecy outage probability as security metrics, and a new closed-form expression is presented for the average symbol error rate as a reliability measure over Rayleigh fading channels. We further explicitly characterize the high signal-to-noise ratio slope and power offset of the ESR to highlight the impacts of system parameters on the ESR. In addition, we examine the diversity order of the proposed scheme to reveal the achievable secrecy performance advantage. Finally, the secrecy and reliability diversity-multiplexing tradeoff of the optimized network are provided. Numerical results highlight that the ESR performance of the proposed JRP scheme for NCE and CE cases is increased with respect to the number of untrustworthy relays.

Improving physical layer security in untrusted relay networks: cooperative jamming and power allocation

Lu Lv, Jian Chen, Long Xiang Yang +1 more

The inherent broadcast characteristics of wireless medium make wireless data transmission difficult to be shielded from unintended recipients. As such, secure communication over wireless channels becomes a critical issue in the design of wireless networks. In this study, the authors study cooperative jamming and power optimisation in untrusted relay networks to improve physical layer security. By exploiting the direct link, a source‐based jamming (SBJ) scheme is proposed to hinder the untrusted relay from intercepting the confidential message. Considering the total power budget, a power allocation strategy is also proposed to optimally determine the power of source and untrusted relay as well as the power of information and jamming signals. Furthermore, to evaluate the secrecy performance of the proposed SBJ scheme with the power allocation strategy, tight lower bound of ergodic secrecy capacity and asymptotic secrecy outage probability are derived in closed form. Simulation verifies the advantages of the proposed SBJ scheme and the power allocation strategy.

Optimization Method for Secrecy Capacity of UAV Relaying Based on Dynamic Adjustment of Power Allocation Factor

Yunqi Hao, Youyang Xiang, Qilong Du +4 more

The broadcast nature of wireless channels introduces significant security vulnerabilities in information transmission, particularly when the eavesdropper is close to the legitimate destination. In such scenarios, the eavesdropping channel often exhibits high spatial correlation with, or even superior quality to, the legitimate channel. This makes it challenging for traditional power optimization methods to effectively suppress the eavesdropping rate. To address this challenge, this paper proposes an optimization method for the secrecy capacity of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) relaying based on the dynamic adjustment of the power allocation factor. By injecting artificial noise (AN) during signal forwarding and combining it with real-time channel state information, the power allocation factor can be dynamically adjusted to achieve precise jamming of the eavesdropping link. We consider a four-node communication model consisting of a source, a UAV, a legitimate destination, and a passive eavesdropper, and formulate a joint optimization problem to maximize the secrecy rate. Due to the non-convexity of the original problem, we introduce relaxation variables and apply successive convex approximation (SCA) to reformulate it into an equivalent convex optimization problem. An analytical solution for the power allocation factor is derived using the water-filling (WF) algorithm. Furthermore, an alternating iterative optimization algorithm with AN assistance is proposed to achieve global optimization of the system parameters. Simulation results demonstrate that, compared to traditional power optimization schemes, the proposed algorithm substantially suppresses the eavesdropping channel capacity while enhancing transmission efficiency, thereby significantly improving both secrecy performance and overall communication reliability.
