Abstract

This paper studies a scheme of optimal relay selection with cooperative jamming and optimal power allocation factor between forwarding relay and jammer. The traditional optimal relay selection scheme selects an optimal relay node to assist forward source information.Based on legitimate user and eavesdropper instantaneous channel state information, the proposed scheme selects two relay nodes to increase security against eavesdropper. The first relays to forward source information as traditional scheme. The second relays to send artificial noise as a friendly jammer. The relay operates in Decode-and-Forward strategy. The closed form expression of secrecy outage probability is derived. In addition, the optimal power allocation factor is given when the total relay transmit power is constrained. The simulation results verify that the proposed scheme can significantly improve system security performance compared with the traditional scheme.,

Power-Constrained Secrecy Rate Maximization for Joint Relay and Jammer Selection Assisted Wireless Networks

Haiyan Guo, Zhen Yang, Linghua Zhang +2 more

In this paper, we examine the physical layer security for cooperative wireless networks with multiple intermediate nodes, where the decode-and-forward protocol is considered. We propose a new joint relay and jammer selection (JRJS) scheme for protecting wireless communications against eavesdropping, where an intermediate node is selected as the relay for the sake of forwarding the source signal to the destination and meanwhile, the remaining intermediate nodes are employed to act as friendly jammers, which broadcast the artificial noise for disturbing the eavesdropper. We further investigate the power allocation among the source, relay and friendly jammers for maximizing the secrecy rate of proposed JRJS scheme, and derive a closed-form sub-optimal solution. Specifically, all the intermediate nodes, which successfully decode the source signal, are considered as relay candidates. For each candidate, we derive the sub-optimal closed-form power allocation solution and obtain the secrecy rate result of the corresponding JRJS scheme. Then, the candidate, which is capable of achieving the highest secrecy rate, is selected as the relay. Two assumptions about the channel state information (CSI), namely the full CSI (FCSI) and partial CSI (PCSI), are considered. Simulation results show that the proposed JRJS scheme outperforms the conventional pure relay selection, pure jamming, and generalized singular-value-decomposition-based beamforming schemes in terms of secrecy rate. Additionally, the proposed FCSI-based power allocation and PCSI-based power allocation schemes both achieve higher secrecy rates than the equal power allocation scheme.

Improving physical layer security in two-way cooperative networks with multiple eavesdroppers

Doaa H. Ibrahim, Emad S. Hassan, Sami A. El‐Dolil

In this paper, three different relay and jammers selection schemes are presented to improve the physical layer security of two-way cooperative networks in the presence of multiple cooperating and non-cooperating eavesdroppers. The presented selection schemes are; optimal selection scheme without jamming, optimal selection scheme with conventional jamming, and optimal selection scheme with controlled jamming. The proposed schemes select three intermediate nodes during two communication phases. In the first phase, a friendly jammer is selected to create intentional interference at the eavesdroppers' nodes. In the second phase, two relay nodes are selected; one node is selected to operate as a conventional relay and assists the sources to deliver their data to the corresponding destinations via a Decode-and-Forward (DF) strategy. While the other node behaves as a jammer node in order to confuse the eavesdroppers in this phase. The proposed schemes are analyzed in terms of ergodic secrecy rate and secrecy outage probability. The obtained results show that the jamming schemes outperform the non-jamming schemes in the eavesdroppers' environment. Moreover, cooperating eavesdroppers' further degrade system's secrecy performance than the non-cooperating ones. Finally, a comparison between relay and jammers selection schemes in both one-way and two-way cooperative networks is given in terms of both ergodic secrecy rate and secrecy outage probability metrics.

Optimal Power Allocation for Physical-Layer Security Using Joint Relay and Jammer Selection

Haiyan Guo, Zhen Yang, Linghua Zhang +2 more

In this paper, we propose a new joint relay and jammer selection (JRJS) scheme to enhance the physical layer security for cooperative wireless networks with multiple intermediate nodes, where the decode-and-forward (DF) protocol is considered. In the proposed JRJS scheme, an intermediate node is selected as the relay for data transmission, while the others are used to act as friendly jammers for disrupting the eavesdropper by broadcasting artificial noise. We focus on the power allocation between the relay and jammers to maximize the secrecy rate of proposed JRJS scheme under a total transmit power constraint, and derive a closed-form optimal power allocation solution. For the purpose of comparision, the conventional pure relay selection and pure jammer selection schemes are considered as benchmark schemes. Simulation results show the advantage of the proposed JRJS scheme over conventional pure relay selection and pure jammer selection methods in terms of secrecy rate. Additionally, the derived optimal power allocation solution leads to a significantly higher secrecy rate than the equal power allocation scheme.

Strategy of Relay Selection and Cooperative Jammer Beamforming in Physical Layer Security

Ming Zhang, Yong Shang, Yaohuan Zhao

In this paper, a novel strategy of relay selection and cooperative jammer beamforming is proposed. The proposed scheme selects one node from the intermediate nodes as relay and the rest nodes as friendly jammers. The relay operates in amplify-and-forward (AF) strategy. Jammer weights are derived to null the jamming signals at the destination and relay node and maximize the jamming signal at the eavesdropper. Furthermore, a closed-form optimal solution of power allocation between the selected relay and cooperative jammers is derived. Numerical simulation results show that the proposed scheme can outperform the conventional schemes at the same power consumption.

Joint relay and jammer selection for secure cooperative networks with a full‐duplex active eavesdropper

He Zhou, Dongxuan He, Hua Wang

In this study, the authors investigate the secure transmission of a cooperative network, in which a source communicates with a destination via multiple cooperative nodes in the presence of a full‐duplex active eavesdropper, which can intercept the confidential signals and transmit jamming signals simultaneously. To safeguard the security of legitimate communication, two joint relay and jammer selection schemes are proposed according to the availability of the eavesdropper's channel state information, namely, optimal relay and random jammer selection scheme and optimal relay and optimal jammer selection scheme. The authors first derive the exact closed‐form expressions of the secrecy outage probability (SOP) for different selection schemes. Aiming at minimising SOP, they then adopt the deep feedforward neural network to determine the optimal power allocation between the selected relay and jammer. Further, the asymptotic expressions for SOP in the high signal‐to‐noise ratio regime are derived. Numerical results verify the analysis and demonstrate the performance advantage of the proposed scheme over conventional relay selection scheme with optimal power allocation.

Joint Cooperative Beamforming and Jamming for Physical-Layer Security of Decode-and-Forward Relay Networks

Haiyan Guo, Zhen Yang, Linghua Zhang +2 more

This paper proposes a new joint cooperative beamforming and jamming (JCBJ) scheme for improving the physical layer security of decode-and-forward wireless networks where a source node transmits to its destination with the aid of multiple intermediate nodes in the presence of an eavesdropper. In the proposed JCBJ scheme, we select the intermediate nodes succeeding in source decoding as the relays to forward the source transmission simultaneously by employing a beamforming weight vector, and meanwhile, use the remaining ones as the friendly jammers to disturb the eavesdropper by sending artificial noise. In order to achieve the secrecy rate maximum, we further study on the power allocation among the source, relays, and jammers under two assumptions of the wiretap link's channel state information. We derive the closed-form optimal solutions by first allocating the transmit power at the source within different ranges to consider all the possible relay selection schemes in which different numbers of relays are employed, and then transforming the multivariable power allocation problem to a set of single-variable optimization subproblems. Our numerical results show the superiority of the proposed JCBJ scheme and the proposed power allocation strategies.
