Abstract

The goal of the present work is the study and use of the cooperative effects of bacteria located in the evanescent field of biomaterials during Raman interaction of the light in UV region. A model is proposed based upon existing experiments, which takes into account the local symmetry of biomolecules. In this paper is presented the quantum correlations which can be obtained in the processes of Raman scattering in two photon lasing. An interesting behavior of Stokes and anti-Stokes generated field in the Raman processes can be observed for the small number of pump field in nonlinear media. The photons statistic is proposed for the diagnosis of the new collective processes. The set of functions was presented, which describes the probability of simultaneous existence of (2j + 1) Dicke states in the scattering process.Metamaterials with periodical structures like quartz or glass small granules irradiated by ultraviolet-C (UV-C) to act against microbial contamination of translucent liquids and gases are studied. Investigations of the modifications of individual metamaterial elements when UV evanescent waves are dispersed in the optical contact zone, as a function of granule geometry, were performed. Different situations were investigated, when quartz (SiO2), glass, or black (plastic) materials with dimensions of about 0.5–3 mm are separately placed into a quartz tube of about 2.7 cm diameter and 90 cm length, named “core tube”. Quartz granules transmit within the (240–400 nm) region of the Hg lamp and ensure an effective decontamination of translucent liquids and gases. Our approach is based upon the increased transfer of UV radiation via evanescent waves in case of unordered metamaterials present in contaminated fluids. We made a series of estimations of the decontamination rate of this type of metamaterials vs. ordered metamaterials consisting of spherical elements. Experiments have convincingly demonstrated that both quartz and glass metamaterials can effectively annihilate Coliform (including Escherichia coli) or Enterococcus bacteria. Control experiments were performed in the absence of metamaterials and/or UV-C irradiation.

Diagnose of biomolecules using raman interactions of the light

Marina Ţurcan

It is particularly important by now to apply the light in processing and development of modern diagnostic. Here with, two basic aspects of the interaction of light with the substance are discussed: the nonlinear one of light interaction with the environment, and the cooperative aspect of interaction of photons with matter (atoms or biomolecules). One should mention the use of metamaterials for tissue decontamination where the specific form of contact surface plays an important role. Another goal of the present work is the study and use of the cooperative effects of bacteria and viruses located in the evanescent field of biomaterials during Raman interaction of light in ultraviolet region. A model is proposed based upon existing experiments which takes into account the local symmetry of biomolecules. New models emerging from the non-linear interaction of the atomic (molecular) subsystem and the electromagnetic field of cavity could be elaborated. The photons statistic is proposed for the diagnosis of the new collective processes.

Multiple Raman Coherent Process in Generation of Biomolecular Complexes

N. A. Enaki, Diana Podoleanu, Ion Munteanu +3 more

This chapter introduces an optical framework for the generation of molecular superstructures from tertiary components through Raman-induced interactions with a bimodal cavity field. A nonlinear model is developed based on cooperative processes analogous to multiple Raman scattering and their integration with biomolecular assemblies. Particular attention is given to phase transitions leading to the formation of supramolecular structures, where induced Raman excitation enables the stabilization of multimeric states such as dimers, trimers, tetramers, and pentamers. The proposed master equation describes the synthesis and stabilization of such structures under Raman excitation. Importantly, the model can also be applied inversely, where large molecular aggregates are dissociated into smaller components via induced multiple Raman scattering. This dual mechanism provides a theoretical basis for designing highly efficient optical metamaterials with potential applications in advanced decontamination technologies. To illustrate the applicability, experimental investigations were performed using yeast fungi as a surrogate for more sensitive pathogens (viruses and bacteria). The results revealed two distinct decontamination regimes under nanosecond-pulsed ultraviolet C radiation, consistent with the predictions of the multiple Raman dimerization model. These findings highlight the potential of Raman-driven cooperative processes in both molecular synthesis and selective pathogen inactivation.

Cooperative Properties of Multiple Scattering Lasing and Their Application in Processing of Information

N. A. Enaki

A semi-classical model (classical by the field and quantum by describing biomolecules) is proposed, which establishes the dependence of the DNA/RNA dimerization rate on ultraviolet C (UVC) radiation intensity. The two types of cooperative effects between the converted photons in these multiple steps of Raman lasing are proposed. The first type involves the cooperative process between the photons of one of the steps of Raman conversion. The second cooperative effect appears between the photons belonging to different steps of multiple conversions. This new type of generated coherent state is proposed by novel bimodal entangled sources, which take into consideration both the coherence and collective phenomena between the photons belonging to the system of the bimodal field obtained in multiple Raman emission. The application of higher-order multiple Roman bimodal coherent field quantum information is described in accordance with the definition of quantum amplitude and phase of such entangled states of light.

Two types of cooperation between the photons in multiple scattering lasing and their possible application

N. A. Enaki

The two types of cooperative effects between the converted photons in the multiple steps of Raman lasing are proposed. The first type involves the cooperative process between the photons of one of the steps of Raman conversion. The second cooperative effect appears between the photons belonging to different steps of multiple conversions. This new type of generated coherent state is proposed by novel bimodal entangled sources, which take into consideration both the coherence and collective phenomena between the photons belonging to the system of the bimodal field obtained in multiple Raman emissions. For this, the creation and annihilation operators of the new resonator quasi-particle ware introduced taking into consideration the Hilbert space of field vectors at frequency differences, ωp+1−ωp between the anti-Stokes components of multiple Raman lasing. The application of higher-order multiple Roman bimodal coherent field quantum information is described in accordance with the definition of quantum amplitude and phase of such entangled states of light. The cooperative properties of the bimodal field in the multiple scattering processes of Raman lasing in the cavity/fiber and its interaction with ensemble of atoms prepared in coherent state are proposed. We introduced the new characteristics of bi-modes field in which the multiple Raman scattering takes into consideration the interaction with coherent excitation and non-stationary quantum fluctuations of the generation rate of the introduced quasi particles. Here, we represent the rate moments through the annihilation and generation operators of the cavity quasi-parties.

Mutual cooperative effects between the mode components of two-photon and Raman induced cavity lasing processes

N. A. Enaki

The paper proposes to unify the two-photon laser and induced cooperative scattering Raman lasing in which the flying ensemble of two-level excited radiators are coupled with the bimodal cavity field in nonlinear two-photon and scattering interactions. It discusses the situation in which the induced two-quantum lasing takes place together with the cooperative scattering conversion of photons between the pump, Stokes, and anti-Stokes cavity modes. The proposed master equation describes cooperative energy exchanges between Raman and two-photon lasing processes by portions of energies multiple to the energy of the entangled photon pair. The generators of such emission and absorption processes belonging to the symmetries of Raman conversion and two-photon cooperative generation are unified. The first symmetry belongs to su(2) algebra connected to the scattering conversion in the Stokes, pump, and anti-Stokes modes of cavity (Opt. Commun.,285(5) (2012) 686–692). The second one belongs to multi-mode su(1,1) symmetry which quantifies the cooperative process belonging to two-photon emission in cavity/fiber mode components of field (see Opt. Commun. 247(4–6) (2005) 381–392). The bimodal collective photon operators are introduced describing the emission or absorption acts of the fixed portion of energy from the cavity equal to the transition energy between the states of each excited atom. A key impact of the study focuses on the statistical properties of the bimodal field and their detection possibilities are proposed for the description of the time evolution of quantum correlations between the field components of Raman conversion and two-photon emission.

Lowering of stimulated Raman scattering threshold as a result of light capture

В. С. Горелик, Anatoliy M. Negriyko, V. A. Orlovich +5 more

Stimulated Raman Scattering in globular photonic crystals and globular photonic glasses at different diameters of globules (250 – 400 nm) with embedded molecular liquids is studied under excitation by nanosecond or picoseconds laser pulses. Substantial decrease of Stimulated Raman Scattering threshold was observed. Such phenomenon was explained as the result of laser radiation field increase in globular photonic structures due to photonic density of states enhancement near the edges of photonic stop bands of photonic crystals and due to Mie resonance or whispering gallery modes effect revealing in photonic glasses. Stimulated Raman Scattering threshold lowering as a result of light capture in globular photonic crystals and photonic glasses opens the way to new efficient laser sources created on the base of composite globular photonic structures. Experimental data on spectra of Stimulated Raman Scattering in light and heavy waters are presented. As sources of exciting light the powerful ultra short solid state laser pulses with 532.0 nm wavelength and giant pulses of Ruby laser (694.3 nm) have been used. Several Stokes and anti-Stokes satellites were observed. Libration modes have been excited and resulted in some additional Raman bands at low frequency region and also as combining tones.
