Abstract

Under no rotating wave approximation and including the effect of dipole-dipole interaction between the atoms, exact squeezing properties for the output opticasl field and the atomic field are obtained. It is shown that an atom laser keeping squeezed all the time can be generated.though the input optical field is at the coherent state or vacuum state.

Influence of the virtual photon field on the squeezing properties of an atom laser

Zhao Jian-Gang, Sun Chang-yong, Wen Ling-Hua +1 more

This paper investigates the squeezing properties of an atom laser without rotating-wave approximation in the system of a binomial states field interacting with a two-level atomic Bose–Einstein condensate. It discusses the influences of atomic eigenfrequency, the interaction intensity between the optical field and atoms, parameter of the binomial states field and virtual photon field on the squeezing properties. The results show that two quadrature components of an atom laser can be squeezed periodically. The duration and the degree of squeezing an atom laser have something to do with the atomic eigenfrequency and the parameter of the binomial states field, respectively. The collapse and revival frequency of atom laser fluctuation depends on the interaction intensity between the optical field and atoms. The effect of the virtual photon field deepens the depth of squeezing an atom laser.

Influence of the virtual photon field on the squeezing properties of atom laser

Zhao Jian-Gang, Sun Chang-Yong, Meng Xiang-Guo +2 more

The squeezing properties of atom laser are investigated with and without rotating-wave approximation by means of quantum theory in the system of optical field interacting with Bose-Einstein condensate of two-level atoms. The influences of the atomic eigenfrequency, the interaction intensity between optical field and atoms, the initial squeezing factor of optical field and the virtual photon field on the squeezing properties are discussed. The results show that two quadrature components of atom laser can be squeezed periodically. The quantum Rabi frequency and the collapse and revival frequency of atom laser fluctuation depend on the atomic eigenfrequency and the interaction intensity between optical field and atoms respectively. When the initial squeezing factor of optical field increases and the virtual photon field is considered, the degree of squeezing of the atom laser also increases.

Squeezing effects of an atom laser: Beyond the linear model

Hui Jing, Jing-Ling Chen, Mo‐Lin Ge

We investigate the quantum dynamics and statistics of an atom laser by taking into account binary atom-atom collisions. The rotating wave approximation Hamiltonian of the system is solved analytically. We show that the nonlinear atom-atom interactions could yield periodic quadrature squeezing effects in the atom laser output beam, although the input radio frequency field is in a Glauber coherent state.

Study of Squeezing Properties in a Two-level System

Rui-hua Xie, Gong-ou Xu, Dun-huan Liu

We have studied the squeezing properties of a field and atom in a two-level system. The influence of nonlinear interactions (Le. the arbitrary intensity-dependent coupling of a single-mode field to a single two-level atom, the nonlinear interaction of the field with a nonlinear Kerr-like medium) on the squeezing is discussed in detail in the rotating wave approximation (RWA). We show numerically that the effect of the virtual-photon field suppresses dipole squeezing predicted in the RWA and leads to an increased squeeze revival period; the suppressed squeezing can be revived due to the presence of the nonlinear Kerr-like medium.

Numerical study of squeezing in the Jaynes-Cummings model with and without the rotating wave approximation

Rui‐Hua Xie, Tie-Jun Zhout, Qin Rao

Dipole squeezing in the Jaynes-Cummings model with and without the rotating wave approximation (RWA) has been numerically studied when restricted to the following initial conditions: the field in the superposition of the vacuum and one-photon state, and the atom in the ground state. Numerical results show that even if under the condition for which the RWA is considered to be valid, there is a significant effect caused by the virtual-photon field on the dipole squeezing; in the cases of sufficiently strong coupling of the atom-field interaction, the interference between the virtual-photon processes and the real-photon processes quenches the dipole squeezing.
