Abstract

Based on the encoding requirements of the continuous variable coherent optical communication in the single beam light,a novel encoding scheme by the joint modulation including magneto-optic modulation and electro-optic modulation was proposed.According to the mapping relationship between Stokes parameters and Poincare sphere, the coding principle of the joint modulation is analyzed in Stokes matrix theory. Then a single beam optical system is set up for encoding. And based on the needs of encoding,a driving circuit of magneto-optic modulatior and a circuit of random number generator are designed.By homodyne detection technique, the Stokes parameters are measured, and the error rate is estimated by LabVIEW procedure. The raw data show that the error rate is lower than 3.60%,which verify the feasibility of the encoding scheme.

A new mode of coherent optical communication for QKD was proposed in this paper, there are two quadrature Stokes parameters, one is used as observed physical quantity, the other as the carrier wave. The EOM of 45 of azimuth is changed by continuously rotating the HWP, which indirectly complete the linear modulation of 2 S and 3 S parameters. The receiver adopts the Q-Q-H wave plate rotation mode to select the measured 2 S or 3 S . The detection system is built up in combination with LabVIEW to implement the signal demodulation. The results shown that the scheme is feasible.

Differential Phase Encoding Scheme for the Polarization State of Quantum Signaling and Simulation

Xiaohui Liu

In order to study the quantum communication signaling system and realize quantum communication between multiple users,a kind of differential phase encoding scheme for the polarization state of quantum signaling is proposed, and details of the encoding process are described. The sender uses polarization states of different photons to represent different signalings, and then implements phase modulation for the photons and encodes the quantum signaling based on the phase difference between the impulses before and affter encoding. In order to complete the decoding, two optical pulses occur interference at the beam splitter. The signal 0 or 1 can be detected by different detectors according to their phase difference.According to the Gaussian pulse distribution, quantitative relationship amongthe quantum bit error rate caused by the pulse delay to differential phase of encoding system, pulse width and delay time in photonic transmission process are enduced.Besides, quantum bit error rate of single-photon pulsesdistribution of Gaussian is calculated in determined timing jitter. Finally, quantum signaling encoded efficiency and bit error rate are analyzed and simulated. The results show that the encoded efficiency of proposed coding scheme can reach 75% that can satisfy the needs of quantum mobile communication.

CONTINUOUS VARIABLE QUANTUM KEY DISTRIBUTION USING POLARIZED COHERENT STATES

A. Vidiella-Barranco, L. F. M. BORELLI

We discuss a continuous variables method of quantum key distribution employing strongly polarized coherent states of light. The key encoding is performed using the variables known as Stokes parameters, rather than the field quadratures. Their quantum counterpart, the Stokes operators Ŝi ( i =1,2,3), constitute a set of non-commuting operators, being the precision of simultaneous measurements of a pair of them limited by an uncertainty-like relation. Alice transmits a conveniently modulated two-mode coherent state, and Bob randomly measures one of the Stokes parameters of the incoming beam. After performing reconciliation and privacy amplification procedures, it is possible to distill a secret common key. We also consider a non-ideal situation, in which coherent states with thermal noise, instead of pure coherent states, are used for encoding.
