We investigate an antiferromagnetic s=1/2 quantum spin system with anisotropic spin exchange on a fractal lattice, the Sierpinski gasket. We introduce a novel approximative numerical method, the configuration selective diagonalization (CSD) and apply this method to a the Sierpinski gasket with N=42. Using this and other methods we calculate ground state energies, spin gap, spin-spin correlations and specific heat data and conclude that the s=1/2 quantum antiferromagnet on the Sierpinski gasket shows a disordered magnetic ground state with on the Sierpinski gasket shows a disordered magnetic ground state with a very short correlation length of xiapproximate to1 and an, albeit very small, spin gap. This conclusion holds for Heisenberg as well a for XY exchange.
The J
1-J
2 antiferromagnetic Ising model on the fractal Sierpi\'nski gasket is intensively studied, and a number of exotic properties are disclosed. The ground state phase diagram in the plane of magnetic field-interaction of the system is obtained, where three nontrivial phases including the
1/3 magnetization plateau ordered and disordered phases, and the
5/9 plateau partially ordered phase, as well as five boundaries and two intersection points are accurately identified in terms of the uniform and subset magnetization and the residual entropy as well. The thermodynamic properties of the three plateau phases are probed by exploring the temperature-dependence of magnetization, specific heat, susceptibility and spin-spin correlations, where some interesting features due to the special geometry of the Sierpi\'nski gasket are discovered. No phase transitions are observed in this model. In the absence of a magnetic field, the unusual temperature dependence of the spin correlation length is obtained with

2/J
1<1, and an interesting crossover behavior between different phases at J
2/J
1=1 is unveiled, whose dynamics can be described by the J
2/J
1-dependence of the specific heat, susceptibility and spin correlation functions. The exotic spin-spin correlation patterns that share the same special rotational symmetry as that of the Sierpi\'nski gasket are obtained in both the
1/3 plateau disordered phase and the
5/9 plateau partially ordered phase.
We investigate the quantum phase transition in the transverse-field Ising model on the Sierpiński gasket using finite-size scaling (FSS) and numerical renormalization group (NRG). Since next generations of the fractal lattice contain exponentially more spins, which in turn increase exponentially the Hilbert space dimension, we challenge and prove usefulness of small systems in FSS. We identified a quantum critical point at
λc≈2.63−2.93, with critical exponents $ ν\approx 0.64 - 0.71, β\approx 0.30, γ\approx 1.67$ and
z≈1.33. The numerical renormalization group method produced results consistent with finite-size scaling approach (
λc=2.766,β=0.316), supporting our findings. Compared to the values reported so far in the literature, critical field is in a strong disagreement, while exponents are generally similar excluding
β and
γ. However, it should be noted, that the lattice investigated in previous works is different from ours, while the latter is in our opinion the standard Sierpiński gasket.
Motivated by the mathematical beauty and the recent experimental realizations of fractal systems, we study the spin-1/2 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model on a Sierpiński gasket. The fractal porous feature generates new kinds of frustration to exhibit exotic quantum states. Using advanced tensor network techniques, we identify a quantum gapless-spin-liquid ground state in fractional spatial dimension. This fractal spin system also demonstrates nontrivial nonlocal properties. While the extremely short-range correlation causes a highly degenerate spin form factor, the entanglement in this fractal system suggests a long-range scaling behavior. We also study the dynamic structure factor and clearly identify the gapless excitation with a stable corner excitation emerged from the ground-state entanglement. Our results unambiguously point out multiple essential properties of this fractal spin system, and open a new route to explore spin liquid and frustrated magnetism.
The ground-state properties of the spin-1/2 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model with spatially anisotropic couplings on a square lattice are investigated by a spin-rotation-invariant Green's-function approach and by Lanczos diagonalizations on lattices up to 36 sites supplemented by finite-size scaling. We focus on the anisotropy-driven transition from the N\'eel state to a paramagnetic state with antiferromagnetic short-range order and on the spatial dependence of spin correlation functions. Our principal result is that a rather sharp crossover in the magnetic behavior occurs at the coupling ratio ${R}_{0}\ensuremath{\simeq}0.2 {(R=J}_{y}{/J}_{x}).$
The ground state and the thermodynamics of a spin-1/2 asymmetric diamond Ising--Heisenberg chain are considered. For the
XYZ anisotropic Heisenberg interaction, the exact calculations of the free energy, entropy, heat capacity, magnetization, and magnetic susceptibility are performed using the method of decoration-iteration transformation. In the case of antiferromagnetic interactions (Ising and
XXZ anisotropic Heisenberg ones), the ground state, magnetization process, temperature dependence of the magnetization, magnetic susceptibility, and heat capacity are investigated. The influence of geometric frustration and quantum fluctuations on these characteristics is studied.
