Abstract

Within the framework of the conventional Nikiforov-Uvarov method and a new form of Greene-Aldrich approximation scheme, we solved the Schrödinger equation with the energy-dependent screened Coulomb potential. Energy eigenvalues and energy eigenfunctions were obtained both approximately and numerically at different dimensions. The energy variations with different potential parameters, quantum numbers and energy slope parameter, respectively were also discussed graphically. The major finding of this research is the effect of the energy slope parameter on the energy spectra, which is seen in the existence of two simultaneous energy values for a particular quantum state. Our special cases also agree with the results obtained from literature, when the energy slope parameter is zero.

Approximate solutions of the Schrödinger equation with Hulthén plus screened Kratzer Potential using the Nikiforov–Uvarov – functional analysis (NUFA) method: an application to diatomic molecules

Etido Patrick Inyang, Eddy Sunday William, Joseph Effiom-Edem Ntibi +3 more

The Schrödinger equation was solved for the Hulthén plus screened Kratzer Potential (HSKP) via the Nikiforov–Uvarov – functional analysis (NUFA) method. The bound-state energy and wave function for the HSKP were obtained in a closed form by applying the Greene–Aldrich approximation scheme to the inverse-square term. Using the resulting energy equation, we computed the energy spectra for 12 diatomic molecules (CuLi, TiH, VH, TiC, HCl, LiH, H2, ScH, CO, I2, N2, and NO) for various quantum states. To show the accuracy of our procedure, four special cases of the collective potential were obtained, and the results are in excellent agreement with the existing literature.

Dimensionality and screening parameter effects on energy spectra and thermodynamics of exponential pseudo-harmonic oscillator

U. S. Okorie, Haifa I. Alrebdi, Gaotsiwe Joel Rampho +1 more

In this study, we employ the extended Nikiforov–Uvarov method to solve the d-dimensional Schrödinger equation with exponential pseudo-harmonic potential. With the help of Greene–Aldrich approximation scheme, analytical expression of the approximate energy eigenvalues and wave function was obtained in closed form and in terms of confluent Heun function, respectively. In addition, expressions of partition function and other thermodynamic functions for the exponential pseudo-harmonic potential were obtained, as they relate with temperature, screening parameter and dimensionality. Numerical and graphical variations of the energies and thermodynamic functions have been presented for various quantum states, temperature, screening parameter and dimensionality values. It is observed that energy eigenvalues and thermodynamic functions of the exponential pseudo-harmonic potential are significantly affected by the screening parameters, dimensionality, temperature and quantum state values considered. Special results for pseudo-harmonic and harmonic potentials are realized as the screening parameter approaches zero. Our results agree with some physical phenomena in condensed matter and atomic physics.

Approximate l-state solutions of the D-dimensional Schrödinger equation for Manning-Rosen potential

Sameer M. Ikhdair, R. Sever

The Schrödinger equation in D-dimensions for the Manning-Rosen potential with the centrifugal term is solved approximately to obtain bound states eigensolutions (eigenvalues and eigenfunctions). The Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) method is used in the calculations. We present numerical calculations of energy eigenvalues to two-and four-dimensional systems for arbitrary quantum numbers n and l with three different values of the potential parameter α.It is shown that because of the interdimensional degeneracy of eigenvalues, we can also reproduce eigenvalues of a upper/lower dimensional sytem from the well-known eigenvalues of a lower/upper dimensional system by means of the transformation (n, l, D) → (n, l ± 1, D ∓ 2)..This solution reduces to the Hulthén potential case.

Approximate Energy Spectra of the Quantum Gaussian Well: A Four-parameter Potential Fitting

Abstract: In this work, we present a detailed study of a one-dimensional Schrödinger equation in the presence of quantum Gaussian well interaction. Further, we investigate the approximate solutions by using the harmonic oscillator approximation, variational principle, four-parameter potential fitting and numerical solution using the finite-difference method. The parabolic approximation yields an excellent energy value compared with the numerical solution of the Gaussian system only for the ground state, while for the excited states, it provides a higher approximation. Also, the analytical bound-state energies of the four-parameter potential under the framework of the Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) method have been used after getting the suitable values of the potential parameters using numerical fitting. The present results of the system states are found to be in high agreement with the well-known numerical results of the Gaussian potential. A. N. Ikot, Oladunjoye A. Awoga, HASSAN HASSANABADI +1 more

We present the bound state solution of Schrödinger equation in D dimensions for quadratic exponential-type potential for arbitrary l-state. We use generalized parametric Nikiforov–Uvarov method to obtain the energy levels and the corresponding eigenfunction in closed form. We also compute the energy eigenvalues numerically.
