Approximate Energy Spectra of the Quantum Gaussian Well: A Four-parameter Potential Fitting

Abstract

Abstract: In this work, we present a detailed study of a one-dimensional Schrödinger equation in the presence of quantum Gaussian well interaction. Further, we investigate the approximate solutions by using the harmonic oscillator approximation, variational principle, four-parameter potential fitting and numerical solution using the finite-difference method. The parabolic approximation yields an excellent energy value compared with the numerical solution of the Gaussian system only for the ground state, while for the excited states, it provides a higher approximation. Also, the analytical bound-state energies of the four-parameter potential under the framework of the Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) method have been used after getting the suitable values of the potential parameters using numerical fitting. The present results of the system states are found to be in high agreement with the well-known numerical results of the Gaussian potential. Keywords: Gaussian potential, One-dimensional Schrödinger equation, Nikiforov- Uvarov (NU) method, Four-parameter potential. PACS: 03.65.−w; 02.90.+p; 12.39.Pn.

Approximate solutions of the Schrödinger equation with energy-dependent screened Coulomb potential in D – dimensions

U. S. Okorie, A. N. Ikot, P. O. Amadi +2 more

Within the framework of the conventional Nikiforov-Uvarov method and a new form of Greene-Aldrich approximation scheme, we solved the Schrödinger equation with the energy-dependent screened Coulomb potential. Energy eigenvalues and energy eigenfunctions were obtained both approximately and numerically at different dimensions. The energy variations with different potential parameters, quantum numbers and energy slope parameter, respectively were also discussed graphically. The major finding of this research is the effect of the energy slope parameter on the energy spectra, which is seen in the existence of two simultaneous energy values for a particular quantum state. Our special cases also agree with the results obtained from literature, when the energy slope parameter is zero.

Eigensolution and Expectation Values of the Hulthen and Generalized Inverse Quadratic Yukawa Potential

Abstract: In this study, the Schrödinger equation was solved with a superposition of the Hulthen potential and generalized inverse quadratic Yukawa potential model using the Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) method. For completeness, we also calculated the wave function. To validate our results, the numerical bound state energy eigenvalues was computed for various principal n and angular momentum l quantum numbers. With the aid of the Hellmann-Feynman theorem, the expressions for the expectation values of the square of inverse of position, r^(-2), inverse of position, r^(-1), kinetic energy, T ̂ and square of momentum, p ̂ are calculated. By adjusting the potential parameters, special cases of the potential were considered, resulting in Generalized Inverse Quadratic Yukawa potential, Hulthen potential, Coulomb potential, Kratzer potential, Inversely Quadratic Yukawa potential and Coulomb plus inverse square potential, respectively. Their energy eigenvalue expressions and numerical computations agreed with the literature. Solutions of the Schrödinger Equation with Quantum Mechanical Gravitational Potential Plus Harmonic Oscillator Potential

Benedict I. Ita, Alexander Immaanyikwa Ikeuba, A. N. Ikot

The solutions of the Schrödinger equation with quantum mechanical gravitational potential plus harmonic oscillator potential have been presented using the parametric Nikiforov—Uvarov method. The bound state energy eigen values and the corresponding un-normalized eigen functions are obtained in terms of Laguerre polynomials. Also a special case of the potential has been considered and its energy eigen values are obtained.

Approximate bound energies of diatomic molecules interactions by solving Schrodinger equation case of the modified Kratzer plus Hulthen potential

Khalid Reggab

Abstract The equation of Schrodinger is a fundamental mathematical framework used to clarify the motion of the wave form, which is a phenomenon in the field of quantum physics. A method's wave function contains the complete description of its particles. The computational solution of the Schrodinger problem is a multifaceted problem. The eigenvalues and typical functions of the modified Kratzer plus Hulthen potential were ascertained analytically in this study. This study used an estimating approach that Nikiforov-Uvarov functional analysis had suggested for dealing with the problem. Estimating energy spectra and applying the results to certain specific diatomic molecules was the aim. The excellent results obtained from this strategy were confirmed by comparing our eigenvalue data with additional numerical data that was gathered by other researchers.

Approximate l-state solutions of the D-dimensional Schrödinger equation for Manning-Rosen potential

Sameer M. Ikhdair, R. Sever

The Schrödinger equation in D-dimensions for the Manning-Rosen potential with the centrifugal term is solved approximately to obtain bound states eigensolutions (eigenvalues and eigenfunctions). The Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) method is used in the calculations. We present numerical calculations of energy eigenvalues to two-and four-dimensional systems for arbitrary quantum numbers n and l with three different values of the potential parameter α.It is shown that because of the interdimensional degeneracy of eigenvalues, we can also reproduce eigenvalues of a upper/lower dimensional sytem from the well-known eigenvalues of a lower/upper dimensional system by means of the transformation (n, l, D) → (n, l ± 1, D ∓ 2)..This solution reduces to the Hulthén potential case.
