Abstract

Quantum cryptography has of late opened up the possibilities of exploiting the characteristics of quantum mechanics in the realm of network security. An interesting problem in cryptography is the distribution of the encryption key between the two parties involved in communication. This paper proposes a secure quantum key distribution protocol using the properties of super increasing knapsack sequences. The mapping from the knapsack sequences to the quantum states is achieved by rotating a three-bit quantum tuple.

Quantum Key Distribution Protocol for Knapsack Cryptosystem

Partha Sarathi Goswami, Tamal Chakraborty, Abir Chattopadhyay

The major threat in data communication in present day is security. To reduce the threat caused in the communication channel quantum cryptography is emerging as a replacement to its classical counterpart. This paper focuses on a quantum key distribution protocol for the knapsack cryptosystem using a one-way trapdoor function by qubit rotation. The protocol exploits a qubit in superposition state for a single bit message communication. The security of the protocol is owing to the fact that any random quantum state cannot be replicated.

A Survey on Quantum Key Distribution Protocols

Jasleen Kour, Saboor Koul, Prince Zahid

Quantum cryptography is based on quantum mechanics to guarantee secure communication. It allows two parties to produce a shared random bit string known only to them. These random bits can be used as a key to encrypt and decrypt messages. The most important and unique property of quantum cryptography is the ability of the two communicating users to detect the presence of any third party trying to gain knowledge of the key.It is based on fundamental aspects of quantum mechanics.By using quantum entanglement or quantum super positions and transmitting information in quantum states, a communication system can be implemented which detects eavesdropping.Quantum cryptography is used to produce and distribute a key, not to transmit any message data. This key along with certain encryption algorithm, is used to encrypt (and decrypt) a message, which can then be transmitted over a standard communication channel. This paper concentrates on comparison between classical and quantum cryptography as well as survey on various quantum key distribution protocols used to generate and distribute the key among communicating parties.

Security in quantum computing using quantum key distribution protocols

D. N. Kartheek, G. Amarnath, P. Venkateswarlu Reddy

Most cryptographic mechanisms such as symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, often involve the use of cryptographic keys. However, all cryptographic techniques will be ineffective if the key distribution mechanism is weak. Quantum Key Distribution or Quantum Cryptography is attracting much attention as a solution of the problem of Key Distribution; QKD offers unconditionally secure communication based on quantum mechanics. This work presents quantum key distribution protocols (QKDP) to safeguard security in large networks, ushering in new directions in classical cryptography and quantum cryptography.

A Novel Quantum Cryptography Protocol

Subhashree Basu, Supriyo Sengupta

Quantum key distribution is a sub topic under quantum cryptography where two parties distribute a shared random bit string known only to them and which can be used as a key to encrypt and decrypt messages. This paper proposes a novel method of QKD to distribute the secret key. The basic concept of QKD remains the same but the process by which the key is exchanged between the two parties is different and is much more secure than the existing QKD protocols. The proposed method exploits the concept of hamming weight.

Quantum Cryptography and Quantum Key Distribution Protocols: A Survey

V. Padamvathi, B. Vishnu Vardhan, Addepalli V. N. Krishna

Quantum cryptography renders a cryptographic solution which is imperishable as it fortifies prime secrecy that is applied to quantum public key distribution. It is a prominent technology wherein two entities can communicate securely with the sights of quantum physics. In classical cryptography, bits are used to encode information where as quantum cryptography i.e. quantum computer uses photons or quantum particles and photon's polarization which is their quantized properties to encode the information. This is represented in qubits which is the unit for quantum cryptography. The transmissions are secure as it is depended on the inalienable quantum mechanics laws. The emphasis of this paper is to mark the rise of quantum cryptography, its elements, quantum key distribution protocols and quantum networks.
