Energy dissipation is the important constrain in the design and implementation of VLSI circuits. Usage of Reversible logic circuit is the best solution for lower energy dissipation. In this paper, basic reversible gates and some existing gates and KMD gates are realized using the Quantum Equivalent structure and the Controlled-V and V+ gate structure from their functional expression. Using the qubit gate reduction procedure of quantum circuit, the quantum cost and number of primitive gates of the functional expression are deduced. After synthesizing the Quantum Cost (QC), Gate count (GC), Garbage Output (GO), number of gates, constant inputs are compared with the non-optimized circuit. The quantum circuit and controlled V and V+ structure are realized in RCViewer+ tool using .tfc (“Toffoli-Fredkin Cascade”) code.

Reversible logic is expanding grounds with its applicability to various upcoming technologies and quantum computation. Numerous reversible gates has also been proposed for designing logic circuits apart of basic quantum controlled Toffoli and Fredkin gates. A comparative study and analysis of a range of reversible gates from the literature is presented in this paper to obtain an optimal solution for designing these circuits. The gates are synthesized and implemented to obtain equivalent quantum circuits and operating cost in terms of number of inputs, gate cost, quantum cost, garbage output and ancilla input. The comparison is done at two subsequent levels i.e. gates structural level and circuit design level, providing a better solution for designing logic circuits. It is calculated that, basic gates are 50% efficient at gate level and 33% at design level analysis in terms of gate cost, as compared to the most efficient gates proposed in the literature.
Increasing miniaturization and demand of low power electronics is highly motivating research on reversible logic. Reversible logic has attracted signification attention in fields of Low power VLSI design, computer graphics, quantum computing and communication. A lot of work has been done on synthesis and optimization of reversible circuits followed by quantitative analysis on various optimization metrics like ancillary inputs, garbage outputs and quantum cost. It is therefore obvious to present a quick guide on reversible logic implementation to bridge gap between theory and implementation. Taxonomy diagrams of work done in reversible logic domain are also presented to give a quick review of all about reversible logic. Quantum realization of popular reversible Fredkin gates using RCViewer tool is also presented which will be stepping stone for a new researcher to synthesize and optimize any complex reversible logic based circuit.
Background/Objectives: The objective is to reduce the Quantum Cost (QC), Garbage Output (GO) and Gate Counts in the design of the adder by incorporating the Novel Reversible Gates. Methods/Statistical Analysis: In recent day’s energy dissipation is the major complex problem in circuit designing in order to recede this problem the reversible logic is employed, where the input vectors can be derived from the output vectors and from the output vectors the input vectors can be procured. Using this technique the Quantum Cost, Garbage Outputs and Gate Counts of the design is reduced. Findings: Based on the technique of reversible logic a novel reversible Gates is proposed from that the novel reversible adders have been designed. The novel reversible gates satisfy the property of reversibility and universality which shows the uniqueness of the proposed gates. The comparative analysis have been made with the existing work, the proposed work shows a significant improvement in the design optimization parameters. Application/Improvements: The proposed structures can be employed in the ALU design and in Floating Point Multiplier design. The comparative analysis shows that Number of Gates, Garbage Outputs and Quantum Cost is minimum for the proposed gate based structure rather than conventional one Keywords: Garbage Outputs (GO), QCA, Quantum Cost (QC), Reversibility, Reversible Logic, Universality.
One kind of logic architecture, known as reversible logic, maps the output and input vectors one-to-one. According to the Landauer’s principle from 1961, if a device is irreversible in its characteristics, then deleting a small amount will cause the release of heat energy of the order of kTln2 joules. Here, T represents the absolute temperature of the environment, and k is referred to as the Boltzmann constant. Quantum logic gates, which each carry out a fundamental unitary operation on 1, 2, or more qubits–two-state quantum systems–can be conceived of as the building blocks of a quantum computer, or as kinfolk’s networks of quantum. Quantum networks need the use of reversible logic components. The multiplication procedure in this study makes use of KMD gates. The KMD gate can be used to create a variety of logic circuits, including AND, half adder, and full adder. The criteria for reversibility, fault tolerance, and universality are satisfied by these gates. This research presents the design and simulation of a unique reversible fault-tolerant Wallace multiplier, Baugh-Wooley multiplier, Vedic multiplier, and minimal complexity multiplier. The above multipliers are designed to obtain the addition and product terms with the least amount of delay and optimal slice utilization for sustainable technology. The complete design of the fundamental reversible logic gates was confirmed using the QCADesigner software version 2.0.3. The current designs of several multipliers are compared in this paper based on a number of parameters, such as garbage output (GO), gate count (GC), quantum cost (QC), area, and constant input (CI). The simulation results show improvements in area, delay, CIs, GO, QC, and GC over currently available architectures.
Reversible circuits are one of the most promising technologies that allow the reproduction of the inputs from the observed outputs and thus reducing the power dissipation in the form of heat. Many basic and universal logic gates i.e. nand, nor, or, and etc. are irreversible and result in energy consumption during calculations. In the reversible technology, like quantum circuits energy is not consumed during the entire calculation process and these circuits can be used for low-power and quantum communication applications circuits. Counters are considered as one of the most important sequential circuits used in many real-time applications. This paper presents a new approach to design a quantum cost-effective reversible up/down counter circuit using exclusive-or sum of product (ESOP) expressions and TR gates. The proposed counter circuits are simulated in the Xilinx Vivado simulator to verify the functionality of the proposed designs. The comparative study indicates that the proposed counters are superior to the best previous designs in terms of quantum cost (QC) and gate count (GC). Moreover, they are very close to or better than the previously available designs in terms of garbage outputs (GO) and Ancilla inputs (AI).
Reversible circuits are one of the most promising technologies for replicating inputs from recorded outputs, and it results in lower power dissipation. All gates such as NAND, AND, OR, NOR etc. are irreversible in nature and consume energy during calculations. Similar to quantum circuits, reversible logic circuitry does not consume energy throughout the calculation cycle. Due to this, reversible circuits can be used for quantum communication and other low-power applications. Registers are one of the most important storage components utilised in a wide range of real-time operations. Using expressions of exclusive-or sum of products (ESOP) and modified Fredkin gates, this work presents a novel way for creating a quantum cost-effective universal register circuit. The designed universal register circuitry for left and right shifts are tested in the Xilinx Vivado simulator to ensure that they are functional and logically correct. The proposed universal registers outperform the standard designs in terms of garbage outputs (GO), quantum cost (QC), gate count (GC), and Ancilla inputs (AI), according to the comparative analysis.
