From triangles to prisms: towards a geometric extension of concurrence fill for three-qubit mixed states

Divyanshu K. Verma, Girish Kulkarni

The quantification of multipartite entanglement remains a long-standing open challenge in quantum information theory with major implications for quantum foundations and quantum technologies. In the context of three-qubit pure states, the concurrence triangle underlies geometric interpretations for a variety of multipartite entanglement measures. In particular, the concurrence fill, which is proportional to the square root of the area of the concurrence triangle, has been shown to be a valid measure of genuine tripartite entanglement. As a result, there is now significant interest in extending the concurrence triangle and concurrence fill to three-qubit mixed states. In this work, we show that any rank-2 three-qubit mixed state can be visualized in terms of concurrence prisms associated with their pure state decompositions. Thus, the concurrence fill of the mixed state obtained through convex-roof extension is proportional to the total prism fill area, defined as the square root of the base area times the height, associated with the prisms minimized over all pure state decompositions. We then consider three-qubit mixed states that are incoherent mixtures of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) and W states and analytically perform their convex-roof extension to obtain a closed-form expression for the concurrence fill of these rank-2 mixtures. Finally, we apply the geometric picture of concurrence prisms to these mixtures and their pure state decomposition corresponding to minimum concurrence fill as a tool for visualization.

Long-distance genuine multipartite entanglement between magnetic defects in spin chains

Mirko Consiglio, Jovan Odavić, Riccarda Bonsignori +5 more

We investigate the emergence and properties of long-distance genuine multipartite entanglement, induced via three localized magnetic defects, in a one-dimensional transverse-field $XX$ spin-$1/2$ chain. Using both analytical and numerical techniques, we determine the conditions for the existence of bound states localized at the defects. We find that the reduced density matrix (RDM) of the defects exhibits long-distance genuine multipartite entanglement (GME) across the whole range of the Hamiltonian parameter space, including regions where the two-qubit concurrence is zero. We quantify the entanglement by using numerical lower bounds for the GME concurrence, as well as by analytically deriving the GME concurrence in regions where the RDM is of rank 2. Our work provides insights into generating multipartite entanglement in many-body quantum systems via local control techniques.

Quantum Fisher Information as the Speed Limit for Multipartite Entanglement

Zain H. Saleem, Da-Wei Luo, Anjala M. Babu +3 more

We derive a universal upper bound on the speed of multipartite entanglement generation. For arbitrary differentiable pure multipartite states undergoing parameter-dependent evolution, we prove that the rate of change of generalized concurrence is bounded by the square root of the quantum Fisher information (QFI). The proof follows directly from the symmetric logarithmic derivative formalism, revealing the bound as a consequence of quantum estimation theory, while a complementary Schmidt-spectrum analysis identifies the conditions for saturation and yields a tighter bound for rank-two bipartitions. We illustrate these results in interacting many-body spin models and investigate their behavior across the quantum phase transition of the transverse-field Ising model. At the critical point, we find that the QFI can be strongly enhanced while the generalized concurrence is nearly stationary and its sensitivity to the coupling is suppressed. This demonstrates that the enhanced parameter sensitivity associated with quantum criticality need not arise from rapid changes in the magnitude of multipartite entanglement.
