Abstract

In this paper, the interaction between two trap ions with laser beam and electromagnetic field containing the Stark shift terms has been investigated. The analytical solution for the differential equations which describes the system Hamiltonian is obtained. The dynamical behavior for the entanglement, entropy squeezing and purity of system are discussed. Some important physical characteristics such as revivals and collapses for the occupation of the trapped ion, entanglement sudden death (birth) and single trapped ion entropy squeezing are discussed. In addition, the influence of Lamb–Dicke parameter and the initial states on the evolution of the entanglement, linear entropy are studied. Finally, some remarks about the obtained results are given briefly.

Sudden death and long-living of entanglement in an ion-trap laser

Mahmoud Abdel‐Aty

he dynamical properties of quantum entanglement in a time-dependent three-level-trapped ion interacting with a laser field are studied in terms of the reduced-density linear entropy considering two specific initial states of the field. Allowing the instantaneous position of the center-of-mass motion of the ion to be explicitly time-dependent, it is shown that either sudden death of entanglement or survivability of quantum entanglement can be obtained with a specific choice of the initial state parameters. The difference in evolution picture corresponding to the multi-quanta processes is discussed.

Evolution properties of the field quantum entropy in the nonlinear Jaynes-Cummings model of a trapped ion

Liu Wang-Yun, BI Si-wen, Xi-bo Dou +1 more

The time evolution properties of the field quantum entropy in the system of a trapped ion interacting resonantly with a standing-wave laser field is studied by utilizing the Von Neumann reduced quantum entropy theory, and our attention focuses on the discussion of the influence of the Lamb-Dick parameter, the position of the ion in the standing-wave laser field and the initial state of the trapped ion on the evolution properties of the field quantum entropy. The results obtained from the numerical calculation indicate that: the value of the Lamb-Dick parameter effect the oscillation frequency and amplitude of the quantum entanglement between the trapped ion and the standing-wave laser field, the larger the Lamb-Dick parameter is, the weaker the average entanglement level between the ion and the field will be. When moving the tapped ion from the node of the standing-wave laser to the loop, the vibration frequency of the quantum entanglement between the field and the ion becomes slow gradually, and the entanglement degree gets weaker and weaker. With the decrease of the probability of the trapped ion being in the excited state, the quantum entanglement between the trapped ion and the stanging-wave laser field shows the tendency of increase first and then decrease. These properties have certain reference value for the preparation of entangled states and for the quantum communications with the thapped ion, and so on.

Information entropy of a time-dependent three-level trapped ion interacting with a laser field

Mahmoud Abdel‐Aty

Trapped and laser-cooled ions are increasingly used for a variety of modern high-precision experiments, frequency standard applications and quantum information processing. Therefore, in this communication we present a comprehensive analysis of the pattern of information entropy arising in the time evolution of an ion interacting with a laser field. A general analytic approach is proposed for a three-level trapped-ion system in the presence of the time-dependent couplings. By working out an exact analytic solution, we conclusively analyse the general properties of the von Neumann entropy and quantum information entropy. It is shown that the information entropy is affected strongly by the time-dependent coupling and exhibits long time periodic oscillations. This feature attributed to the fact that in the time-dependent region Rabi oscillation is time dependent. Using parameters corresponding to a specific three-level ionic system, a single beryllium ion in a RF-(Paul) trap, we obtain illustrative examples of some novel aspects of this system in the dynamical evolution. Our results establish an explicit relation between the exact information entropy and the entanglement between the multi-level ion and the laser field. We show that different nonclassical effects arise in the dynamics of the ionic population inversion, depending on the initial states of the vibrational motion/field and on the values of Lamb–Dicke parameter η.

New Aspects of Field Entropy Squeezing as an Indicator for Mixed State Entanglement in an Effective Two-Level System with Stark Shift

S. Abdel‐Khalek, M. M. A. Ahmed, A.‐S. F. Obada

We present an effective two-level system in interaction through two-photon processes with a single mode quantized electromagnetic field, initially prepared in a coherent state. Field entropy squeezing as an indicator of the entanglement in a mixed state system is suggested. The temporal evolution of the negativity, Wehrl entropy, Wehrl phase distribution and field entropy squeezing are investigated. The results highlight the important roles played by both the Stark shift parameters and the mixed state setting in the dynamics of the Wehrl entropy, Wehrl phase distribution and field entropy squeezing.

Fidelity and concurrence of entangled qudits between a trapped ion and two laser beams

Rasim Dermez, S. Abdel‐Khalek, Eied Mahmoud Khalil

A quantum scheme is presented by which a three-level trapped ion interacts with a two laser beams in the absence and presence of the e®ect of classical field. We analyze the impact of the classical ¯eld and the Lamb-Dicke parameter (LDP) on the dynamical behavior of entanglement quanti¯er, population probabilities and the geometric phase. Based on four different variations of these two effects, LDP = 0.1, LDP=0.01 and ¯ = 0.0, ¯ = 0.49, the time dependence of geometric phase and populations probabilities are shown. The ¯nding emphasizes that both the time-dependent and LDP play an important role in the development of the entanglement, the geometric phase, ¯delity, and populations probabilities. This in-sight may be very useful in various applications in quantum optics and information processing.

NONLOCALITY DYNAMICS INDUCED BY A LAMB–DICKE NONLINEARITY IN TWO DIPOLE-COUPLED TRAPPED IONS UNDER INTRINSIC DECOHERENCE

Abdel‐Haleem Abdel‐Aty, A.‐B. A. Mohamed, Hichem Eleuch

In this paper, we explore the nonlinear dynamics of two dipole-coupled-trapped ions in the Lamb–Dicke regime. The dynamics of the generated two-trapped-ions correlations under intrinsic decoherence is quantified by Bell function, the uncertainty-induced nonlocality, and the concurrence. We investigate the effects of the Lamb–Dicke nonlinearity, the intrinsic decoherence, and the two-trapped-ions coupling. It is found that the two-trapped-ions state has different nonlocal correlations. These correlations can be controlled. In the absence of decoherence, the nonlocal correlations can be enhanced by the Lamb–Dicke nonlinearity and the two-trapped-ions coupling. The stable value and the sudden death-birth phenomenon of the entanglement can be apperceived due to the increase of the Lamb–Dicke nonlinearity. The intrinsic decoherence reduces and stabilizes the nonlocal correlations. They are more pronounced with large Lamb–Dicke values. The decoherence effects are reduced by the strong Lamb–Dicke nonlinearity.
