Abstract

Leakage of private information has become a threat to the security of computing systems. It has become a common security requirement that a cryptography scheme should withstand various leakage attacks, even the continuous leakage attacks. However, in the current constructions on the (continuous) leakage‐resilient identity‐based encryption (CLR‐IBE) scheme, the leakage parameter is a fixed value. Aiming to solve these problems, in this study, the authors show how to construct the CLR‐IBE scheme, and the adaptive chosen‐ciphertext attacks security of proposed construction can be proved in the standard model. To further improve the practicability of CLR‐IBE scheme, they design an improved IBE scheme with continuous leakage amplified property, and the leakage parameter has an arbitrary length.

Continuous Leakage-Resilient Identity-Based Encryption with Tight Security

Yanwei Zhou, Bo Yang, Hongxia Hou +3 more

Abstract In the actual applications, an adversary can break the security of cryptography scheme through various leakage attacks (e.g. side-channel attacks, cold-boot attacks, etc.), even the continuous leakage attacks. That is, a practical cryptography scheme must maintain its claimed security in the continuous leakage setting. However, the previous constructions on the leakage-resilient identity-based encryption (IBE) scheme could tolerate a leakage that is bounded, and cannot resist the continuous leakage attacks. In order to further achieve the better security, a novel method to build the continuous leakage-resilient IBE scheme with tight security is presented in this paper, and the scheme’s security is proved, in the standard model, based on a stronger security assumption that depends on the number of queries made by the adversary. In addition, our proposal has several advantages over previous such constructions, e.g. shorter public parameters, higher communication efficiency, tight security, etc.

A Leakage-Resilient CCA-Secure Identity-Based Encryption Scheme

Jiguo Li, Meilin Teng, Yichen Zhang +1 more

Identity-based encryption (IBE) has many appealing applications. However, some traditional IBE schemes may not be secure in the real world due to the side-channel attacks. Leakage-resilient cryptography can capture these attacks by modeling information leakage that adversary can access. In this paper, we apply a hash proof technique in the existing CCA-secure variant of the Gentry's IBE scheme to construct a new leakage-resilient IBE scheme in the bounded-leakage model. The proposed scheme is more computationally efficient than the original Alwen et al. 's leakage-resilient IBE scheme. It enjoys a shorter key (public/secret key) length, and a higher relative key leakage ratio. The new leakage-resilient scheme is proved semantically secure against adaptive chosen ciphertext attack in the standard model under the truncated augmented bilinear Diffie-Hellman exponent ( |$q$| -TABDHE) assumption.

Provably secure identity-based encryption resilient to post-challenge continuous auxiliary input leakage

Jiguo Li, Yuyan Guo, Qihong Yu +2 more

The situation for post-challenge continuous auxiliary input leakage has not been considered in the cryptography schemes for previous literature. We present a semantic-security model with post-challenge continuous auxiliary inputs for identity-based encryption. In this model, the adversary is permitted to obtain some information of the private keys constantly and to query more information after seeing the challenge ciphertext through the side-channel attacks. Furthermore, we present an identity-based encryption scheme resilient to leakage under composite order groups. Our scheme is secure against post-challenge continuous auxiliary input, adaptive chosen-identity, and adaptive chosen plaintext attacks under three static assumptions in the standard model. Compared with existing identity-based encryption schemes under security properties and performance, our scheme is practical. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

CCA-Secure Leakage-Resilient Identity-Based Encryption without q-Type Assumptions

Toi Tomita, Wakaha Ogata, Kaoru Kurosawa +1 more

In this paper, we propose a new leakage-resilient identity-based encryption (IBE) scheme that is secure against chosen-ciphertext attacks (CCA) in the bounded memory leakage model. The security of our scheme is based on the external k-Linear assumption. It is the first CCA-secure leakage-resilient IBE scheme which does not depend on q-type assumptions. The leakage rate 1/10 is achieved under the XDLIN assumption (k=2).

Public‐key encryption with keyword search secure against continual memory attacks

Chengyu Hu, Rupeng Yang, Pengtao Liu +3 more

Abstract Continual memory attacks, inspired by recent realistic physical attacks, have broken many cryptographic schemes that were considered secure in traditional cryptography model. In this paper, we consider the continual memory leakage resilience in public‐key encryption with keyword search scheme (PEKS). We give the definition of continual memory leakage resilience security for PEKS, which allows continual secret key leakage in the trapdoor generation algorithm rather than leakage of trapdoor itself. We believe that the definition is more suitable for practical PEKS scenario. To construct a concrete PEKS scheme secure against continual memory attacks, we firstly obtain a continual master‐key leakage‐resilient anonymous identity‐based encryption (IBE) scheme by applying the generic tool provided by Lewko et al. to a fully secure anonymous IBE scheme that comes from the fully secure anonymous hierarchical identity‐based encryption (HIBE) scheme of De Caro and colleagues. Then, we transform our continual master‐key leakage‐resilient anonymous IBE scheme to a PEKS scheme using the generic Anonymous IBE‐to‐PEKS transformation and prove its continual leakage‐resilient security. Leakage resilient CCA secure IBE with all-but-one lossy filter

Zhiwei Wang

The goal of this paper is to design an id-based encryption (IBE) scheme that can flexibly tolerate leakage bounds, by only increasing the size of secret key proportionally, and the security level can be achieved to be against chosen-ciphertext attacks (CCA). As our main technical tool for CCA security, we introduce an initiation of all-but-one lossy filter, which is a simple version of all-but-many lossy filter to the leakage resilient settings. As our main result, we use the all-but-one lossy filter to construct an IBE scheme that is secure against leakage resilient chosen-ciphertext attacks (CCA), and the leakage rate is 1/2 − ο(1).
