Abstract

Humans are experts at recognising patterns in past experience and applying them to new tasks. For example, after seeing pictures of a face we can usually tell if another image contains the same person or not.Machine learning is a research discipline at the intersection of computer science, statistics and mathematics that investigates how pattern recognition can be performed by machines and for large amounts of data.Since a few years machine learning has come

Exploring the Frontiers of Quantum Machine Learning: A New Era in AI and Computation

Latika Kharb, Deepak Chahal

In the realm of artificial intelligence (AI), the integration of quantum computing with machine learning (ML) has sparked a significant shift in how we approach problems that were once deemed computationally infeasible. Quantum Machine Learning (QML) represents an exciting intersection of quantum mechanics and machine learning, potentially revolutionizing areas such as optimization, pattern recognition, and data analysis. Although quantum computing itself is still in its infancy, the synergy between quantum theory and classical machine learning algorithms promises to unlock new capabilities that classical computing could never achieve. This paper delves into the latest advancements in Quantum Machine Learning, its theoretical underpinnings, practical applications, and the challenges that researchers face as they explore this rapidly growing field.

An Introductory Study on Machine Learning using Quantum Computing

Suchismita Sarkar, Chinmoy Ghorai

Quantum Computing can be defined as an intersection among Quantum Physics, Computer Science and Mathematics. Though the behavior of quantum mechanics is spooky, the mathematics behind it is simpler and easier than classical one. Using superposition and entanglement, quantum computing can solve complex problems efficiently and it would take less amount of time than its classical counterpart to do so. Machine Learning (ML) is a subset of Artificial Intelligence (AI) which helps to learn from data, analyze patterns and make itself improved. When quantum computing is blended with Machine Learning, Quantum Machine Learning pops up. In this survey, we explore what Quantum Machine Learning (QML) is and how it actually works. We try to demonstrate the very quantum touch on our known machine learning algorithms. We also delve into the various application areas of QML. This paper helps to understand QML from basics to advanced levels.

An introduction to quantum machine learning

Maria Schuld, Ilya Sinayskiy, Francesco Petruccione

Machine learning algorithms learn a desired input-output relation from examples in order to interpret new inputs. This is important for tasks such as image and speech recognition or strategy optimisation, with growing applications in the IT industry. In the last couple of years, researchers investigated if quantum computing can help to improve classical machine learning algorithms. Ideas range from running computationally costly algorithms or their subroutines efficiently on a quantum computer to the translation of stochastic methods into the language of quantum theory. This contribution gives a systematic overview of the emerging field of quantum machine learning. It presents the approaches as well as technical details in an accessable way, and discusses the potential of a future theory of quantum learning.

[EN] In a world in which accessible information grows exponentially, the selection of the appropriate information turns out to be an extremely relevant problem. In this context, the idea of Machine Learning (ML), a subfield of Artificial Intelligence, emerged to face problems in data mining, pattern recognition, automatic prediction, among others. Quantum Machine Learning is an interdisciplinary research area combining quantum mechanics with methods of ML, in which quantum properties allow for an exponential speed-up in the algorithms. This field is currently one of the main research areas in companies like Google and Microsoft, due to the revolution that they could provide in data management.

Quantum Machine Learning: Exploring the Intersection of Quantum Computing and AI

Gaurav Kashyap

At the nexus of artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing lies the emerging field of quantum machine learning (QML). By speeding up the computation of intricate algorithms, quantum computers have the potential to transform a number of fields, including machine learning, by outperforming classical computers by an exponential amount in specific tasks. This essay examines the fundamental ideas of quantum computing, how it applies to machine learning, and the potential advantages and difficulties of QML. We examine several quantum algorithms, including quantum versions of support vector machines, clustering, and neural networks, that can improve machine learning models. We also go over QML's drawbacks, present research directions, and potential future developments, providing insights into how quantum technologies might transform AI in the ensuing decades. With the potential to outperform traditional supercomputers in resolving important issues in a variety of fields, including machine learning, quantum computing has become a ground-breaking technology. This study investigates the fascinating nexus between artificial intelligence and quantum computing, looking at how quantum machine learning might revolutionize classification, pattern recognition, and data processing.
