Abstract

We propose a scheme for preparing an arbitrary polarization-entangled mixed state starting from a pure state with location decoherence owing to the path difference. The scheme, using linear optical devices (beam splitter, half wave plate, quarter wave plate) and single-mode optical fibers, is feasible in experiment within current optical technology. We also give a simplified scheme for a special case $\\rho =p|\\psi><\\psi| +(1-p) |\\phi><\\phi|$.

Scheme for purifying a general mixed entangled state and its linear optical implementation

Dong Dong, Yan‐Lei Zhang, Chang‐Ling Zou +2 more

We propose a scheme for purification of a general mixed entangled state. In this scheme, we start from a large number of general mixed entangled states and end up, after local operation and classical communication, with a smaller number of Bell diagonal states with higher entanglement. In particular, the scheme can purify one maximally entangled state from two entangled pairs prepared in a class of mixed entangled state. Furthermore we propose a linear optical implementation of the present scheme with polarization beam splitters and photon detectors.

Complete Bell-state analysis for a single-photon hybrid entangled state

Yu‐Bo Sheng, Lan Zhou, Wei-Wen Cheng +3 more

We propose a scheme capable of performing complete Bell-state analysis for a single-photon hybrid entangled state. Our single-photon state is encoded in both polarization and frequency degrees of freedom. The setup of the scheme is composed of polarizing beam splitters, half wave plates, frequency shifters, and independent wavelength division multiplexers, which are feasible using current technology. We also show that with this setup we can perform complete two-photon Bell-state analysis schemes for polarization degrees of freedom. Moreover, it can also be used to perform the teleportation scheme between different degrees of freedom. This setup may allow extensive applications in current quantum communications.

Generation of arbitrary four-photon polarization-entangled decoherence-free states

Yan-Xiao Gong, Xu‐Bo Zou, Xiao-Ling Niu +3 more

We propose a scheme to generate four-photon polarization-entangled states, which enables the encoding of an arbitrary qubit into a four-qubit decoherence-free subspace robust against collective decoherence. The scheme is based on linear optical elements and postselection strategy, which is feasible with existing experimental technology.

Linear Optics Quantum Communication over Long Distances

Zeng‐Bing Chen, Huai-Xin Lu, Zhang, Yong-De

We propose a feasible scheme for teleporting an arbitrary polarization state or entanglement of photons by requiring only single-photon (SP) sources, simple linear optical elements and SP quantum non-demolition measurements. An unknown SP polarization state can be faithfully teleported either to a duplicate polarization state or to an entangled state. Our proposal can be used to implement long-distance quantum communication in a simple way. The scheme is within the reach of current technology and significantly simplifies the realistc implementation of long-distance high-fidelity quantum communication with photon qubits.
