Abstract

Satellite communication plays an important role in the smart city connection project. The Hoyt distribution is used to describe two types of fading in satellite signal transmissions. In this paper, the information-theoretic secrecy of the Rayleigh-Hoyt and Hoyt-Rayleigh fading channels is investigated. A set of exact formulas of the probability of strictly positive secrecy capacity are derived. Profile examples are illustrated to show the effects of secrecy capacity.

An analysis on secrecy capacity of the Hoyt-Hoyt fading channel

Xian Liu

In this paper, the information-theoretic secrecy of the Hoyt fading channel is investigated. The analytical formulae of the outage probability of secrecy capacity in the regime of high SNR and the probability of strictly positive secrecy capacity are derived. Both are in terms of the hypergeometric function of two variables (i.e., Appell's function). Profile examples are illustrated.

Physical layer security under Rayleigh/Weibull and Hoyt/Weibull fading

Furqan Jameel, Faisal Faisal, M. Asif Ali Haider +1 more

This paper investigates the information theoretic secrecy for different combinations of Rayeligh, Weibull and Hoyt fading channels. The considered communication model employs distinct channel conditions at legitimate and eavesdropping links. This scenario is deemed to be practical when the legitimate receiver and eavesdropper are placed far from each other and experience completely different type of channel fading conditions. Hence, this paper provides four scenarios when main (legitimate)/ wiretap (eavesdropping) channel undergo Weibull/Rayleigh fading, Rayleigh/Weibull fading, Weibull/Hoyt fading and Hoyt/Weibull fading. Closed-form expressions for the secrecy outage probability are derived for the given scenarios that are corroborated through extensive simulations in MATLAB.

Probability of strictly positive secrecy capacity of the Weibull fading channel

Xian Liu

In this paper, the information-theoretic secrecy of Weibull fading channels is investigated. The present work generalizes the analysis on Rayleigh fading. Several formulas of the probability of strictly positive secrecy capacity are derived. It is shown that in some cases the results can be expressed in terms of a general function, the Meijer G-function. Profile examples are illustrated and discussed.

Probability of Strictly Positive Secrecy Capacity of the Rician-Rician Fading Channel

Xian Liu

Communication security is critical in the marine environment as information may be transmitted over large open areas like high seas. In this letter, an analysis is conducted on the probability of secrecy capacity for wireless communications over the Rician fading channels. In particular, a closed-form expression for the probability of strictly positive secrecy capacity is derived. The result is applicable to the scenarios of Rayleigh/Rayleigh, Rician/Rayleigh, Rayleigh/Rician, and Rician/Rician.

Average secrecy capacity of the Weibull fading channel

Xian Liu

In this paper, the information-theoretic secrecy of Weibull fading channels is investigated. The present work is a generalization of the analysis on Rayleigh fading. This paper focuses on the scenario that the channel state information is available to the legitimate transmitter. The cases of single and multiple eavesdroppers are discussed. Several formulas of the average secrecy capacity are derived. Profile examples are illustrated and discussed.

On the Secrecy Analysis of Satellite-Terrestrial Communication Link over Gamma–shadowed Ricean Fading Channels

Jelena A. Anastasov, Predrag Ivaniš, Jarosław Makal +2 more

This paper deals with the physical layer security for the satellite-terrestrial communication system in the presence of an eavesdropper. In the analysis, the satellite has no knowledge of the eavesdropper’s channel state information referring to the passive eavesdropping scenario. The main, as well as the wiretap link, are both characterized as gamma-shadowed Ricean fading channels. The analytical expressions for the secrecy outage probability and the probability of strictly positive secrecy capacity are derived. The secrecy diversity order is also determined. The impact of the fading/shadowing parameters and the average signal-to-noise ratios of the legitimate/illegitimate channels on the aforementioned secrecy metrics is investigated. The results illustrate that specific, either main or wiretap channel nature can enhance system security at the physical layer.
