Abstract

In this paper, we investigate the secure communication of cognitive full-duplex relay networks in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers and multiple primary receivers. In the considered network, multiple full-duplex relays are deployed to transfer information in the secondary network, under the malicious attempts of non- colluding/colluding eavesdroppers. Meanwhile, the transmit powers of secondary transmitters are constrained by the quality-of-service of the primary network. The optimal relay selection scheme is proposed to enhance the secrecy performance of the considered system. We study the secrecy performance by providing the exact closed- form and asymptotic expressions of the proposed system secrecy outage probability. We have demonstrated that increasing the number of full- duplex relays can improve the security performance. At the illegitimate side, using colluding eavesdroppers and increasing the number of eavesdroppers put information confidentiality at a greater risk. Besides, the transmit power and the desired outage probability of the primary network have great influences on the secrecy outage probability of the secondary network.

Secure Transmission in Cognitive Relaying Networks with Full-Duplex Technique

Zhihui Shang, Tao Zhang, Xiaohua Wang +3 more

This paper studies the secure transmission in cognitive wiretap relaying networks with full-duplex technique over Rayleigh channels, where a secondary user (SU) transmitter (Alice) aims to transmit confidential information to a multi-antenna legitimate SU receiver (Bob) in the presence of a multi-antenna relay (Relay), a primary user (PU) and a passive eavesdropper (Eve). For secrecy performance enhancement, we propose maximal-ratio combining-zero forcing beamforming/maximal-ratio transmission-selection combining-zero forcing beamforming (MRC-ZFB/MRT-SC-ZFB) scheme. The closed-form expression for the secrecy outage probability (SOP) of the CRNs with MRC-ZFB/MRT-SC-ZFB scheme is derived. From the analysis, we look into the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime, and present simple secrecy outage approximation for the proposed scheme, which reveals that the secrecy diversity order is min (NR, NRNB), where NRand NBare the number of antennas at Relay and Bob, respectively.

Secure Transmission in Cognitive Wiretap Networks with Full-Duplex Receivers

Zhihui Shang, Tao Zhang, Yueming Cai +4 more

This paper studies the secure transmission in the dual-hop cognitive wiretap networks, where the secondary transmitter (Alice) aims to transmit confidential information to the secondary receiver (Bob) in the face of a multi-antenna relay (Relay), while the malicious eavesdropper (Eve) is used to eavesdrop the confidential information from Alice and Relay. To improve security, we design two transmission schemes, namely maximal-ratio combining/maximal-ratio transmission-selection combining (MRC/MRT-SC) with half-duplex (HD) receiver and maximal-ratio combining-zero forcing beamforming/maximal-ratio transmission-selection combining-zero forcing beamforming (MRC-ZFB/MRT-SC-ZFB) with full-duplex (FD) receiver. To evaluate the secrecy performance obtained from the proposed schemes comprehensively, the new closed-form and simple asymptotic expressions for the secrecy outage probability (SOP) and secrecy throughput (ST) of our considered networks with MRC-ZFB/MRT-SC-ZFB and MRC/MRT-SC schemes are derived, respectively. Thus, we explore the effect of various schemes on system secrecy performance in terms of SOP and ST. Analytical results and numerical simulations demonstrate that MRC-ZFB/MRT-SC-ZFB achieves better performance in the two proposed schemes. In particular, we show that the FD receiver plays a crucial role in designing the cognitive wiretap networks for protecting the legitimate link against attack from the malicious eavesdropping.

Proposed relay selection scheme for physical layer security in cognitive radio networks

Hefdhallah Yahya Sakran, M. Shokair, Omar A. Nasr +2 more

In this study, the physical layer security for cognitive radio network (CRN) will be investigated in which a secondary user transmitter (SU-Tx) sends confidential information to a SU receiver (SU-Rx) on the same frequency band of a primary user (PU) in the presence of an eavesdropper receiver. Moreover, relay selection scheme is proposed for the security constrained CRNs with single eavesdropper, multiple eavesdroppers and PUs. The proposed scheme selects a trusted decode and forward relay to assist the SU-Tx and maximise the achievable secrecy rate that is subjected to the interference power constraints at the PUs for the different number of eavesdroppers and PUs under available channel knowledge. The SU cooperates with relays only when a high secrecy rate is achieved. Secrecy rate and secrecy outage probability are the two performance metrics that are used to verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme although asymptotic approximations of the secrecy outage probability are also derived. Simulation and analytical results demonstrate that the performance improvement of the proposed scheme reaches to the double relative to the conventional scheme for the secrecy capacity.

Optimal Relay Selection with a Full-Duplex Active Eavesdropper in Cooperative Wireless Networks

He Zhou, Dongxuan He, Hua Wang +1 more

In this paper, we investigate the physical layer security of a dual-hop cooperative network in the presence of a full-duplex active eavesdropper, which can overhear the confidential signals and transmit jamming signals simultaneously. We utilize the optimal relay selection scheme to improve the secrecy performance, where the relay maximizing the secrecy capacity will be selected to forward the information. To evaluate the secrecy performance of our system, we derive a compact closed-form expression of the secrecy outage probability. Besides, we also analyze the asymptotic performance related to the position of the nodes. Finally, we verify our analysis through the numerical results, and demonstrate that there exists a secrecy protection region where the secrecy outage probability is below a target probability.

Physical Layer Security of Full-Duplex Two-Way AF Relaying Networks with Optimal Relay Selection

Fang Liu, Jiaojiao Li, Shulan Li +1 more

In this paper, the physical layer security of full-duplex two-way multiple amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying network in the presence of an eavesdropper is analyzed. The closed-form expression of the approximate secrecy outage probability (SOP) based on the optimal relay selection scheme (ORS) in maximizing the secrecy capacity of proposed network is given out. Furthermore, Monte-Carlo simulation results validate the analytical expressions and show that secrecy performance can be impacted by different parameters, including the number of candidate relay and the average power of residual self-interference. The simulation results also show that the full-duplex relaying systems based on optimal relay selection scheme can significantly outperform the conventional single-relay systems and the traditional half-duplex scheme in secrecy performance.

Full-duplex relay for enhancing physical layer security in Wireless Sensor Networks: Optimal power allocation for minimizing secrecy outage probability

Wei Li, Kexiong Liu, Sixin Wang +3 more

In this paper, we address the physical layer security problem for Wireless Sensor Networks in the presence of passive eavesdroppers, i.e., the eavesdroppers' channels are unknown to the transmitter. We use a multi-antenna relay to guarantee physical layer security. Different from the existing work, we consider that the relay works in full duplex mode and transmits artificial noise (AN) in both stages of the decode-and-forward (DF) cooperative strategy. We proposed two optimal power allocation strategies for power constrained and power unconstrained systems respectively. For power constrained system, our aim is to minimize the secrecy rate outage probability. And for power unconstrained systems, we obtain the optimal power allocation to minimize the total power under the quality of service and secrecy constraints. We also consider the secrecy outage probability for different positions of eavesdropper. Simulation results are presented to show the performance of the proposed strategies.
