The purpose of this study is to review the main points of the experimental content of the basics of quantum computer science adapted for lyceum students, based on the prospects of the quantum approach to information processing for ultra-fast calculations in modeling objects of complex dynamical systems. In addition, software tools and Internet services are offered to organize effective training. A survey was conducted among 26 computer science teachers to assess the relevance and feasibility of introducing a “Fundamentals of quantum informatics and programming” course for lyceum students. The proposed 17-hour sample module covers key concepts of quantum computing, quantum circuits, quantum gates, and basic quantum algorithms. Expected learning outcomes and methodological support are discussed. The study concludes that quantum computer science has significant potential and proposes starting to study its basics in the school computer science course in grades 10-11, using universal software and Internet services like IBM Quantum Experience and Jupyter Notebooks with Python.
Abstract Application of quantum theory in informatics and the creation of quantum information devices have revolutionary changed our idea about the information systems. It seems to us that the only question is that quantum computers will be introduced in the next decade or in some years later. Anyhow, we should prepare to teach a radically new paradigm, the quantum algorithms, in informatics. Quantum algorithm can be demonstrated with quantum simulators. The present paper shows an educational material, which facilitates the teaching of this new field. Besides summarising the basic concepts and methods of quantum informatics, the working of a quantum algorithm on a quantum simulator will be also illustrated with the discussion of an exciting quantum physical phenomenon (the teleportation).
The article defines the criteria for choosing a cloud-based platform for mastering the basics of quantum informatics by students of a specialized (high) schools: cross-browser; intuitive interface; the possibility of free access; access without registration and simplified registration; the presence of a systematized reference system with examples; support for the development of the environment by the developer; support for working in a personal educational environment; support for working with quantum algorithms in graphical mode; automatic conversion of quantum algorithms from graphic format to program code text; support for the Ukrainian-language localization; availability of a mobile application; responsive design. The possibilities of platforms for implementing quantum algorithms from the following companies are analyzed: Microsoft, QuTech, Amazon Braket, IBM. The choice of the IBM Quantum cloud-based platform is justified. Work at IBM Quantum Composer and IBM Quantum Lab is described. Information about quantum operations and gates is presented: their designation in IBM Quantum Composer and IBM Quantum Lab, the gate matrix, and the purpose of the gate. An example of implementing quantum teleportation in the form of a circuit and program is given.

Quantum computing harnesses quantum laws of nature to enable new types of algorithms, not efficiently possible on traditional computers, that may lead to breakthroughs in crucial areas like materials science and chemistry. There is rapidly growing demand for a quantum workforce educated in the basics of quantum computing, in particular in quantum programming. However, there are few offerings for non-specialists and little information on best practices for training computer science and engineering students. In this report we describe our experience teaching an undergraduate course on quantum computing using a practical, software-driven approach. We centered our course around teaching quantum algorithms through hands-on programming, reducing the significance of traditional written assignments and relying instead on self-paced programming exercises ("Quantum Katas''), a variety of programming assignments, and a final project. We observed that the programming sections of the course helped students internalize theoretical material presented during the lectures. In the survey results, students indicated that the programming exercises and the final project contributed the most to their learning process. We describe the motivation for centering the course around quantum programming, discuss major artifacts used in this course, and present our lessons learned and best practices for a future improved course offering. We hope that our experience will help guide instructors who want to adopt a practical approach to teaching quantum computing and will enable more undergraduate programs to offer quantum programming as an elective.
This article explores educational initiatives for teaching quantum technologies in schools and universities, highlighting their purposes, methodologies, and challenges. In order to bring students closer to the fundamental concepts of quantum technologies, several teaching programs adopt interactive activities and simulators, offering a practical and intuitive introduction to the subject. The need for qualified professionals in the area is growing, because of the advancement of quantum computing, a great demand for specialized labor is expected in the coming years. Industries in several sectors already recognize the potential of this technology, reinforcing the urgency of training professionals capable of developing and applying quantum solutions. An exploratory survey was conducted of institutions that have integrated SPINQ quantum computers, compact devices that are relatively more affordable than traditional quantum computers, which offer a practical and interactive experience. With them, students visualize theoretical concepts in a practical context, promoting greater understanding and interest in the field. However, the adoption of quantum computers in education faces substantial challenges. High costs, limited infrastructure and a lack of specialized teachers are the main barriers, especially in countries with lower investment in education. Thus, while quantum technologies show great educational potential, their implementation requires significant structural investments to become viable and effective.
