The dynamic behavior of the interaction between a Λ-type degenerate quantum-beat three-level atomic system and a coherent light field is discussed in light of the time evolution operator. The squeezed state of the light field is also studied in this paper.
By using the full quantum theory, we investigate the time evolution of the atomic dipole squeezing parameters of a Λ-type three-level atom interacting with a single-mode coherent optical field, and study the influence of the initial coherent-field intensity, the initial atomic coherence, the initial populations and energy splitting of the two lower atomic levels on the atomic dipole squeezing. The influence of a classical external driving field coupling to the atom on the atomic dipole squeezing is also explored at the end of the paper.
The atomic dipole squeezing is a very important phenomenon in the interaction between an atom and an optical field, but the atomic dipole squeezing of a three-level atom with an intensity-dependent coupling is seldom reported. By using a full quantum theory, We investigate the time-evolution properties of the atomic dipole squeezing of the degenerate quantum-beat three-level atom intensity-dependently interacting with a single-mode coherent field, and explore effects of splitting of the lower energy levels of the atom, the field intensity and the initial atomic coherence on the atomic dipole squeezing. Our results show that, when the two lower levels of the atom is degenerate, dipole squeezing parameters evolve periodically with time, and the splitting of the lower levels destroy this periodicity and reduce the amount of dipole squeezing. The relationship between the amount of dipole squeezing and the initial coherent field intensity is not monotonous. The initial atomic coherence has a great influence on the dipole squeezing.
Considering two Λ-type three-level atoms initially in the entangled state, one atom is poured into the cavity and interacts with a two-mode cavity. The squeezing and antibunching effects of the field are investigated. The influences of the selective atomic measurement and the intensity of the coherent field, which interacts with atom on squeezing and antibunching effect of the field, are discussed. The results obtained by numerical calculations show that squeezing and antibunching effect of the field can be strengthened through selective atomic measurement for atom outside of the cavity.
Dynamics of a three-level atom interacting with one- and two-mode radiation fields is studied when the initial state of the field is a squeezed coherent state. All the three types of level configurations cascade; V and Lambda are considered. A model similar to the Jaynes-Cumming type developed by Yoo and Eberly1 is used. Various parameter ranges including the one in which the photon number distribution for the squeezed state exhibits oscillatory behavior2 are considered. Interesting revival structures are seen. Curves are presented to illustrate the behavior.
By using the full quantum theory, the time evolution of atomic dipole squeezing parameters of a Λ-type three-level atom interacting with a single-mode coherent cavity field is investigated. The influence of the initial coherent-field intensity, the initial atomic coherence, the initial populations on the two lower atomic levels and their energy splitting on the atomic dipole squeezing are studied. Results show that the amount of dipole squeezing increases while the duration of dipole squeezing decreases with increasing initial field intensity. In the case of degenerate lower atomic states maximum dipole squeezing is reached when the two states have equal initial phases and equal populations.Exchange of initial populations in the lower atomic states does not influence time evolution of diploe squeezing.Atomic energy level splitting is helpful to dipole squeezing generation under certain conditions.
