Abstract

Soliton amplitude squeezing state is obtained by using an asymmetric Sagnac interferometer, and detected by using a balanced homodyne detecting system.A promoted photo detector circuit is introdueed which is fit for quantum state detecting. The circuit using ETX-500 photodiode has a bandwidth of 10 MHz and the saturation power is about 19mW.A maximum photocurrent noise reduction of 1.1 dB below shot noise is achieved.Taking the detecting efficiency into account, the squeezing will be about 1.5 dB.

Generation of Optical Soliton Squeezed State Using Photonic Crystal Fiber

Bojun Yang

Optical soliton amplitude squeezed state caused by intensity correlation self-phase modulation effect was generated experimentally. The main part of experiment system was asymmetric Sagnac interferometer.Pulsed laser was connected to a coupler with splitting ratio of 90∶10 by PC/FC connector. The coupler and 40-meter photonic crystal fiber composed interference loop.At proper input power, optical soliton amplitude squeezed state could be observed at output terminal of the interferometer.Balanced homodyne detection system composed of 50/50 beam splitter, two low-noise photo detectors,adder/subtracter,and spectrum analyzer was used to detect the squeezed state.Intensity distribution curves of input and output of the Sagnac loop were drawn, and the signal noise curve using shot noise as reference was obtained. The compressibility was 1.6?dB.Analysis on experimental data shows that it's possible to improve compressibility further by choosing proper photonic crystal fiber.

Photon-Number Squeezed Solitons from an Asymmetric Fiber-Optic Sagnac Interferometer

Stefan Schmitt, Joachim Hans Ficker, Max Wolff +3 more

Direct photon-number squeezing is demonstrated, for the first time to our knowledge, in a nonlinear fiber-optic interferometer. Launching 126-fs solitons into a highly asymmetric Sagnac loop, the maximum photocurrent noise reduction was $3.9\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.2\mathrm{dB}$ below shot noise, corresponding to $6.0\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.9\mathrm{dB}$, when corrected for linear losses. The loop is a model system for squeezing generated by the interference of two pulses after nonlinear propagation through a fiber.

Soliton squeezing generated in an all-fiber configuration

Li Yu, 冯雪冬 Xuedong Feng, 尚旭东 +2 more

We experimentally demonstrate amplitude squeezed soliton utilizing intensity-dependent self-phase modulation in an asymmetric Sagnac interferometer. The system, whose components are connected via ferrule connector/physical connection (FC/PC) fiber connectors, constitutes all-fiber configuration to generate squeezed soliton. Soliton amplitude reduction measured by homodyne detection is near 4.0 dB below the shot-noise level. Optimal squeezing fields in both simple and compact all-fiber configuration are obtained.

Amplitude-squeezed solitons from an asymmetric fiber interferometer

Dmitriy Krylov, K. Bergman

We experimentally demonstrate a new scheme for generating amplitude-squeezed solitons in an asymmetric fiber Sagnac loop. We measure by direct detection what is to our knowledge a record reduction of 5.7+/-0.1 dB (73%) and, with corrections for linear losses, 6.2+/-0.1 dB (76%) in the photon-number fluctuations below the shot-noise level. The same scheme is also shown to generate significant classical noise reduction and is limited by Raman effects in fiber.

Amplitude Soliton Squeezing Using an Asymmetric Sagnac Fiber Loop

Dmitriy Krylov, K. Bergman

We experimentally demonstrate a new scheme for generating amplitude squeezed solitons in an asymmetric fiber Sagnac loop. We measure by direct detection a 5.7±0.1 dB (73%) and, with corrections for linear losses 6.2±0.1 dB (76%), reduction in the photon number fluctuations below the shot noise level. The same scheme is also shown to generate a significant classical noise reduction and is limited by Raman effects in fiber. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.

Squeezed optical solitons

M. Rosenbluh, Robert M. Shelby

We have experimentally demonstrated the squeezing of optical solitons, resulting in a detected photocurrent noise power (32\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}3)% (1.7 dB) below the shot-noise limit over a broadband of frequencies. The squeezing is accomplished using the Kerr nonlinearity of a polarization-preserving single-mode optical fiber at liquid-nitrogen temperature. Squeezed solitons, 1.1 dB below the shot-noise limit, were observed at room temperature.
