Abstract

The channel can be used for transmmiting quantum states. The paper provides the project of modulating quantum states with soliton on the basis of wave-particle duality. It demonstrates that the quantum entangled states(or squeezed states) can be produced in the soliton transmitting. The project can avoid the series problems caused by quantum long distance transmission,e.g.quantum repeater.

High-speed modulation of quantum state by optical soliton

HE Qi-si

A modulation method of a quantum communication system is studied and a scheme of modulating quantum states in high-speed with soliton is proposed in the paper. The transmission evolution of soliton in NLSE optic fiber and in SIT media is demonstrated by modulating communication channel of quantum state, respectively. It is concluded that two-component transmission line can produce quantum entangled states (or squeezed states) in the soliton transmission. The wavicle of light is used for the modulation and the properties of quantum and soliton are fused. This scheme is a development trend for future quantum communication.

Inside Quantum Repeaters

William J. Munro, Koji Azuma, Kiyoshi Tamaki +1 more

Most quantum communication tasks need to rely on the transmission of quantum signals over long distances. Unfortunately, transmission of such signals is most often limited by losses in the channel, the same issue that affects classical communication. Simple signal amplification provides an elegant solution for the classical world, but this is not possible in the quantum world, as the no-cloning theorem forbids such an operation and, thus, an alternative approach, a quantum repeater, is needed. Quantum repeaters enable one to create a known maximally entangled state between the end points of the network by first segmenting the network into pieces, creating entanglement between the segments, and then, connecting those entanglement to create the required long range entanglement. Quantum teleportation then allows an unknown quantum message to be transmitted between them using the long-range entangled state. This form of quantum communication will be at the heart of the future quantum Internet. In this review, we will detail various approaches to quantum repeaters, and discuss their expected performance and limitations.

Quantum communications

J. D. Franson

Quantum mechanics allows a number of communications protocols that would not be possible classically, including provably-secure messages (quantum cryptography), increased channel capacity, and the ability to transmit an unknown quantum state (quantum teleportation). This tutorial will provide an introductory description of what appear to be the most promising applications of quantum communications, including quantum cryptography and quantum repeaters. The most commonly-used methods for quantum cryptography will be described, including the advantages and disadvantages of each in practical applications. The maximum range of current quantum cryptography systems is limited by the fact that optical amplifiers would destroy the quantum coherence of single photons and cannot be used in these kinds of systems. One potential solution to this problem is the transmission of single photons in free space, which would allow a global system for quantum cryptography based on a network of satellites and ground stations. Free-space quantum cryptography systems of that kind have now been demonstrated over relatively short distances. The range of quantum cryptography systems in optical fibers can also be extended using quantum repeaters that make use of entanglement purification and quantum teleportation. These same techniques could also be used to implement a “quantum Internet” for the transmission of qubits from one quantum computer to another. The practical challenges that will have to be met in order to implement quantum repeaters and quantum teleportation over large distances will be discussed.

Research Progress Of Quantum Repeaters

Qiao Ruihong, Meng Ying

Abstract At present, the main components of quantum communication channels are optical fibers and free space. However, whether it is a fiber channel or a free-space channel, the channel in which it propagates is affected by noise, resulting in loss or absorption of photons. Experimental studies have shown that the quantum key can basically meet the requirements of the local area network, and the safety distance is about 100km. However, if you want to achieve longer distance distribution, you can’t do without quantum repeaters. The quantum repeater can divide the long-distance communication distance into several segments, and then perform quantum key distribution in several segments respectively; then establish a longer-distance EPR pair between adjacent nodes, and establish an EPR pair to utilize entanglement switching and Entanglement purification technology; finally repeat the above steps, and finally achieve long-distance information transmission. The development of quantum repeaters can solve the communication problems facing the world and promote the replacement of global communication methods.

A Quantum Repeater Communication System Based on Entanglement

A scheme of long-distance quantum communication system based on entangled photon pairs is presented, which utilize entanglement as its essential resource. This entanglement enables phenomena such as quantum teleportation and perfectly secure quantum communication. The quantum repeater extends the length of the entangled photon pairs with high fidelity, the entanglement of photons between sender and receiver is built by entanglement swapping and entanglement purification. The quantum information is transferred by the principle of quantum teleportation.Performance analysis results show that the throughput quantum communication system of increases greatly with higher probabilities with which entanglement is built between sender's photons and receiver's photons. The transmitting distance of the quantum signal was determined by the series of the quantum repeater nodes.
