The influence of the plasma loading on the quantum character of the absorbing and dispersive cavity is investigated. The results show that the loading changes the power spectrum distributions of the vacuum field fluctuations in the system, and the working states of the cavity are related with light frequancy closly.
Subject of study. A scheme of quantum manipulation in a coupled optical cavity system composed of a triple-coupled optical cavity with injection of a squeezed vacuum field is proposed. Method. The scheme of quantum manipulation in a coupled optical cavity system is based on analysis of the absorption and dispersion characteristics of the reflection in the classical field and the quantum field. Main results. It was established that the absorption and dispersion of the reflection field with different coupled intensities under the classical field show different characteristics. An electromagnetic induction transparency like effect is observed as the coupled intensities increase and becomes more and more obvious as the coupled intensities increase until the absorption curve becomes completely independent due to the strong coupled intensities. The quantum noise fluctuation corresponding to the amplitude and phase of the reflection field in the quantum field also presented different characteristics. With the increase of coupled intensities, the quantum noise fluctuation curve begins to split. At the same time, the splitting of the quantum noise fluctuation curve changes from one to three, and it completely splits into three Lorentz curves finally. Practical significance. The theoretical results of the scheme demonstrated that multiple (three times) quantum manipulation can be implemented simultaneously in a device, which provides a method for quantum dense coding.
We experimentally investigate the optical cavity for various coupled regimes with an injected squeezed vacuum state. We measure the quantum fluctuation spectra of the reflected field of an optical cavity using the homodyne detection and present the spectral dependence on the absorption and dispersion properties of the cavity in the under-coupled, critically-coupled, and over-coupled regimes. The spectra lineshape is phase sensitive with the phase shift induced by the cavity. Moreover, we find that the over-coupled optical cavity has obvious advantage in the manipulation of quantum fluctuation.

The behavior of short quantum light pulses propagating in dispersive and absorbing linear ground-state dielectrics is studied, with special emphasis on squeezed pulses. The analysis is based on normally ordered correlation functions of the electric-field strength, which are related to quantities at the entrance plane, on using quantum Langevin equations. Using nonmonochromatic-mode expansion and restricting attention to a single-mode pulse in a squeezed state, the influence on squeezing of the pulse propagation in the medium is discussed in both the time and frequency domains, and it is shown that the noise reduction observable in homodyne detection sensitively depends on the phase control used. Effects, such as squeezing enhancement associated with pulse compression and the destructive influence of the spectral shift caused by absorption, are demonstrated. The numerical results are supplemented by analytical estimations derived for narrow-bandwidth Gaussian pulses. \textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society.
