Abstract

We experimentally investigate the optical cavity for various coupled regimes with an injected squeezed vacuum state. We measure the quantum fluctuation spectra of the reflected field of an optical cavity using the homodyne detection and present the spectral dependence on the absorption and dispersion properties of the cavity in the under-coupled, critically-coupled, and over-coupled regimes. The spectra lineshape is phase sensitive with the phase shift induced by the cavity. Moreover, we find that the over-coupled optical cavity has obvious advantage in the manipulation of quantum fluctuation.

Coupled-Resonator-Induced Transparency with a Squeezed Vacuum

Ke Di, Changde Xie, Jing Zhang

We present the first experimental observation of quantum fluctuation spectra in two coupled optical cavities with an injected squeezed vacuum light. The quadrature components of the reflected squeezed vacuum spectra are measured by phase-sensitive homodyne detector. The experimental results demonstrate coupled-resonator-induced transparency in the quantum regime, in which the electromagnetically-induced-transparency-like characteristic of the absorption and dispersion properties of the coupled optical cavities determines the line shape of the reflected quantum noise spectra.

Phase-Sensitive Manipulations of a Squeezed Vacuum Field in an Optical Parametric Amplifier inside an Optical Cavity

Jing Zhang, Chenguang Ye, Gao Feng +1 more

A squeezed vacuum field can be amplified or deamplified when it is injected, as the signal beam, into a phase-sensitive optical parametric amplifier (OPA) inside an optical cavity. The spectral features of the reflected quantized signal field are controlled by the relative phase between the injected squeezed vacuum field and the pump field for the OPA. The experimental results demonstrate coherent phenomena of OPA in the quantum regime and show phase-sensitive manipulations of quantum fluctuations for quantum information processing.

Quantum properties of a triple-coupled optical cavity with injection of a squeezed vacuum field

Ke Di, Jie Ren, Wei Cui +5 more

Subject of study. A scheme of quantum manipulation in a coupled optical cavity system composed of a triple-coupled optical cavity with injection of a squeezed vacuum field is proposed. Method. The scheme of quantum manipulation in a coupled optical cavity system is based on analysis of the absorption and dispersion characteristics of the reflection in the classical field and the quantum field. Main results. It was established that the absorption and dispersion of the reflection field with different coupled intensities under the classical field show different characteristics. An electromagnetic induction transparency like effect is observed as the coupled intensities increase and becomes more and more obvious as the coupled intensities increase until the absorption curve becomes completely independent due to the strong coupled intensities. The quantum noise fluctuation corresponding to the amplitude and phase of the reflection field in the quantum field also presented different characteristics. With the increase of coupled intensities, the quantum noise fluctuation curve begins to split. At the same time, the splitting of the quantum noise fluctuation curve changes from one to three, and it completely splits into three Lorentz curves finally. Practical significance. The theoretical results of the scheme demonstrated that multiple (three times) quantum manipulation can be implemented simultaneously in a device, which provides a method for quantum dense coding.

Absorption Spectrum of a Driven Two-Level Atom in a Tunable Cavity with Injected Squeezed Vacuum

Gao‐xiang Li, Huang Guang-ming, PENG JIN-SHENG

The absorption spectrum of a driven two-level atom in a frequency tunable cavity with injected squeezed vacuum is investigated. The line shape of the spectra depends on the relative phase between the driving field and the squeezed vacuum, and the frequency detuning between the driving field and the cavity mode. Line narrowing and probe gain can occur and be enhanced by adjusting the phase and detuning.

Sensitivity enhancement of a dispersive cavity with squeezed vacuum light injection

Xiaoyang Chang, Hao Zhang, Wenxiu Li +4 more

The measurement sensitivity of a cavity could be enhanced for sensing applications in an anomalous dispersion condition. In this paper, we find that when injecting a squeezed vacuum light into a dispersive cavity, the sensitivity could be improved further, even beating the standard quantum limit at the detuning frequencies via controlling the dispersion condition. It is amazing that normal dispersion is superior to anomalous dispersion in improving the measurement sensitivity in the presence of a squeezed vacuum field. It implies this paper could be used to realize high-precision sensing applications.
