Study on the subschemes of N-type four-level structure of optical quantum coherence system

Abstract

Using the method of Boolean algebra,the N-type four-level quantum coherence system is classified into five realistic channel subschemes by choosing the proper transition channels according to the electric dipole section rule.And they can be further classified into forty eight realistic intensity subschemes exactly according to exciting intensity that is used on different channels.The classification is propitious to sort out and take advantage of the research results about N-type four-level quantum coherence system.

There are many distinguishable subtypes of diamond-type four-level optical quantum coherent(OQC) systems,which come with high structural diversity.We selected transition channels properly according to the rules for dipole transition selection.With a corresponding laser field,we used Boolean algebra methods to classify diamond-type four-level OQC systems into nine real-world channel subtypes(RCSs).Also,we went further by classifying those RCSs into eighty so-called intensity subtypes(ISs) exactly,depending on the excitation intensity of the laser for different transition channels.We focused our discussion on the structural diversity of diamond-type four-level systems,while pointing out which substypes have been studied in some aspects and which ones have not even been theoretically studied.

Multiformality of 1st, 2nd and 3rd-order Subschemes of Four-Level Optical Quantum Coherence Systems

Many quantum optical and optoelectronic achievements have been obtained by using quantum coherence effects occurred in four-level quantum systems. Here we report a systemic study on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd order subschemes of the four-level scheme with the aid of Boolean algebra, and find 7 1st order subschemes and 53 2nd order subschemes in total. Further it is found that 472 3rd-order subschemes may appear in the realistic optical quantum coherence experiments when the applied lasers are distinguished only by the strong and weak field intensities.

Multiformity of Optical Quantum Coherence Systems with Y and Inverted Y-type Schemes

Y and inverted Y-type four-level schemes for optical quantum coherence systems, which may he intuitively considered to be very simple, have not been studied intensively till now. In this paper, we present the multiformity of these two types of schemes by considering that they can be classified into nine possible level styles as the second-order sub-schemes using laser fields. Further we point out the complexity of their more than one hundred realistic configurations as the third-order four-level sub-schemes that may appear in the optical quantum coherence experiments. Throughout this paper we review which configurations have been studied in some research aspects and which ones not, according to our knowledge, in order to be propitious to next steps of theoretical and experimental investigations, especially for applications in the fields of quantum optics, quantum information science, laser spectroscopy, and so on.

[EIT and MOLLOW spectrum in N-type four-level system].

An N-type four level system where two coupling fields interact with two separate optical transitions was constructed in the present paper. By discussing the behaviors of probing field absorption profiles under the effect of different Rabi frequencies of two coupling fields, EIT, Mollow and Autler-Townes doublet can be seen and mutual transformation between them can be obtained. Multiple transition channels in the system were found and the results show that the system can be divided into several subsystems according to the transition channels. Quantum interference between different transition channels can be realized through different dividing methods, so three nonlinear effects with different generating conditions and physical nature can be seen in the system.

SU(4) based classification of four-level systems and their semiclassical solution

We present a systematic method to classify the four-level system using SU(4) symmetry as the basis group. It is shown that this symmetry allows three dipole transitions which eventually leads to six possible configurations of the four-level system. Using a dressed atom approach, the semi-classical version of each configuration is exactly solved under rotating wave approximation and the symmetry among the Rabi oscillation among various models is studied.
