Many-body selective destruction of tunneling in a bosonic junction

Abstract

A scheme for selective coherent destruction of tunneling (CDT) of strongly interacting bosons in a symmetric double-well potential, in which an arbitrarily and a priori prescribed number of bosons are allowed to tunnel from one well to the other one is theoretically proposed. As compared to the many-body CDT scheme recently proposed by Gong, Molina, and H\"anggi [Phys. Rev. Lett. 103, 133002 (2009)] and based on a fast modulation of the self-interaction strength, the method suggested in this work exploits the traditional method of fast modulation of the energy level unbalance between the two wells by an external ac force.

Many-Body Coherent Destruction of Tunneling

Jiangbin Gong, L. Morales-Molina, Peter Hänggi A

A new route to coherent destruction of tunneling is established by considering a monochromatic fast modulation of the self-interaction strength of a many-boson system. The modulation can be tuned such that only an arbitrarily, a priori prescribed number of particles are allowed to tunnel. The associated tunneling dynamics is sensitive to the odd or even nature of the number of bosons.

Selective Tunneling Dynamics of Bosons with Effective Three-Particle Interactions

Zhen-Xia Niu, Ju-Kui Xue

The selective coherent destruction of tunneling (CDT) of ultracold Bose gas with three-particle interactions in a modulated double-well potential is discussed. It is shown that the effects of two- and three-particle interactions on the dynamics of the selective CDT are strongly coupled and the three-particle interactions significantly modify the selective CDT. For weak three-particle interactions, an upper bound of the boson number for realizing the selective CDT exists and the region of boson number for realizing the selective CDT is enlarged (reduced) with repulsive (attractive) three-particle interactions. For strong three-particle interactions, the boson number in the system for realizing the selective CDT not only has an upper bound, but also has a lower bound. The results are confirmed by numerical simulations.

Many-body coherent destruction of tunneling in photonic lattices

Stefano Longhi

An optical realization of the phenomenon of many-body coherent destruction of tunneling, recently predicted for interacting many-boson systems by Gong, Molina, and H\"anggi [Phys. Rev. Lett. 103, 133002 (2009)], is proposed for light transport in engineered waveguide arrays. The optical system enables a direct visualization in Fock space of the many-body tunneling control process.

Directed tunneling of a prescribed number of dipolar bosons in shaken triple-well potentials

Abstract We propose a scheme for precise control of the tunneling dynamics of dipolar bosons in shaken triple-well potentials. In high-frequency regimes and under resonance conditions, we have analytically and numerically demonstrated that we can transport an a priori prescribed number of dipolar bosons along different pathways and in different directions by adjusting the driving parameters. These results extend the previous many-body selective coherent destruction of tunneling schemes for nondipolar bosons in double-well potentials (Gong et al 2009 Phys. Rev. Lett. 103 133002 ; Longhi 2012 Phys. Rev. A 86 044102 ), thus offering an efficient way to design long-range coherent quantum transportation.

Selective coherent spin transportation in a spin-orbit-coupled bosonic junction

Zi-Fa Yu, Ju-Kui Xue

We propose a theoretical scheme for realizing selective coherent spin transportation in a spin-orbit-coupled bosonic gas trapped in a symmetric double well by fast modulation of the energy-level unbalance between the two wells. The modulation can be tuned in such a way that an arbitrarily, a priori prescribed spin type (single spin or a spin pair with opposite spins) and the number of these spin bosons with or without spin flipping are allowed to tunnel. Furthermore, prescribed superexchange of spin bosons (where only pure spin exchange is allowed between the two wells and the atom number in each well is not changed) is also presented. The resonance conditions of realizing this selective coherent spin transportation are obtained analytically and confirmed numerically. This engineering provides a possible means for spin control and accurate counting or efficient filtering of the number of spins.

Coherent Destruction of Tunneling .of Bosons with Effective Three-Body Interactions

牛真霞, 鱼自发, 薛具奎

The tunneling dynamics of dilute boson gases with three-body interactions in a periodically driven double wells are investigated both theoretically and numerically. In our findings, when the system is with only repulsive twobody interactions or only three-body interactions, the tunneling will be suppressed;while in the case of the coupling between two- and three-body interactions, the tunneling can be either suppressed or enhanced.Particularly, when attractive three-body interactions are twice large as repulsive two-body interactions,CDT occurs at isolated points of driving force, which is similar to the linear case.Considering different interaction, the system can experience different transformation from coherent tunneling to coherent destruction of tunneling(CDT).The quasi-energy of the system as the function of the periodically driving force shows a triangular structure, which provides a deep insight into the tunneling dynamics of the system.
