The optical system of the fountain clock

Xinliang Wang, Jun Ruan, Hui Zhang +7 more

This paper present an optical system for Cs atomic fountain clock that is located on a 1.2 m×1.2 m optical table. Taking advantage of this system, we trap about 108cesium atoms in the magneto-optic trap (MOT) and get the Ramsey fringe of the fountain by scanning the microwave frequency of the interrogation cavity. The full-width at half-maximum of the central fringe (FWHM) is 1.4 Hz.

Update on the development of cesium atomic fountain at NPL, India

Poonam Arora, Ashish Agarwal, Kavindra Pant +2 more

National Physical Laboratory India (NPLI) has been developing a cesium atomic fountain primary frequency standard. We have succeeded in trapping about 107Cs atoms, cool them to about 5 μK by both magneto-optical trap (MOT) and polarization gradient cooling (PGC) and launch them up by moving molasses method. We have demonstrated the fountain action by launching the atoms up to 72.9 cm up and detection of the return signal by measuring the fluorescence. Work is underway to interrogate the launched atoms with microwaves and observe Ramsey fringes.

Progress in Brazilian Cesium atomic fountain-BrCsF

S. A. Rodriguez, Vanderlei Salvador Bagnato, C. Bueno +3 more

The goal of this work is to present new progress in the Brazilian Cesium fountain Br-CsF, which is currently back to operation after improvements in its optical system. The first result of this new stage is the Ramsey fringe showed in Figure 5. The central oscillation has a FWHM of 1.5 Hz with cycle time of 2 s and with signal noise ratio of 200. This fringe was obtained loading ~109atoms into a magneto optical trap with loading time of tl= 1.2 s.
