Abstract

This paper is concerned with the transmission of confidential data over Rayleigh fading channels with three terminals, a sender, a receiver, and an eavesdropper. The transmitter has single antenna and both receivers have multiple antennas (SIMOME). Considering the problem of secure communications between two nodes over a Rayleigh fading channel in the presence of an eavesdropper, by using majorization theory, we investigate the impact of correlation among receive antennas on the outage probability. Finally, numerical results confirm again the accuracy of the theoretical analysis.

Outage performance of secure cooperative systems over correlated Rayleigh fading channels

Ying Xu, Kun Xiao

This paper investigates the outage performance of the secure cooperative system over correlated Rayleigh fading channels in the presence of the eavesdropper and the jammer. Assuming that the transmitter knows the full channel state information (CSI) before transmission, there exist one eavesdropper and multiple cooperative relay nodes in system, and a relay node is chosen to act as jammer to send the jamming signals. We consider two typical scenarios: 1) the legitimate channel is correlated with the jamming channel to the destination, while the wiretap channel is independent of the jamming channel to the eavesdropper, and 2) the wiretap channel is correlated with the jamming channel to the eavesdropper, while the legitimate channel is independent of the jamming channel to the destination. For each scenario, we derive the expression of secrecy outage probability of the proposed secure cooperative system, respectively. Numerical results show that the channel correlation has significant impacts on the secrecy outage probability of the secure cooperative system.

Enhancing Security in Correlated Channel With Maximal Ratio Combining Diversity

M. Z. I. Sarkar, Tharmalingam Ratnarajah

In this correspondence, we consider a confidential communication through slow non-selective correlated Rayleigh fading channel, where a single antenna transmitter communicates at a pre-decided constant rate with a legitimate receiver in the presence of an eavesdropper. Both the legitimate receiver and eavesdropper are equipped with multiple antennas and employ maximal ratio combining (MRC) reception scheme. With the presence of channel diversity, we find the closed-form expressions for the probability of non-zero secrecy capacity and the outage probability of secrecy capacity in terms of channel parameters such as correlation coefficient and the ratio of main and eavesdropper channel gains that will be called average channel gain ratio (CGR). The analysis of secure outage performance with the MRC diversity scheme tells how the channel diversity enhances the secrecy capacity. We quantify the effect of antenna correlation on the probability of positive secrecy capacity and the secure outage probability. We also investigate how the target secrecy rate influences the effect of antenna correlation on the secure outage probability. Moreover, as a result of obtaining the closed-form expressions for the probability of positive secrecy capacity and the outage probability, it is insightful to see how the channel parameters affect the secure outage performance of the correlated channels.

Secure Communications through Rayleigh Fading SIMO Channel with Multiple Eavesdroppers

M. Z. I. Sarkar, Tharmalingam Ratnarajah

We consider a single-input multiple-output (SIMO) Rayleigh fading broadcast channel, where the transmitter sends some confidential information to one user which is a legitimate receiver in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers. The eavesdroppers are mutually independent and perfect secrecy is achieved when the transmitter and the legitimate receiver can communicate at some positive rate, while insuring that each eavesdropper gets zero bits of information. Here, we find the probability of non-zero secrecy mutual information and secure outage probability to investigate the outage behavior of proposed model. We also present a formulation of ergodic secrecy mutual information in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers.

Outage performance of secure multicasting in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers

Jinxiao Zhu, Yin Chen, Yoshitaka Nakamura +3 more

Recently, there has been a growing interest in applying multiple antennas to achieve information-theoretic security in wireless communication networks. In this paper, we consider the transmission of common confidential data from a single-antenna transmitter to multiple multi-antenna receivers in the presence of multiple multi-antenna eavesdroppers. Both the receivers and eavesdroppers employ maximal-ratio combining (MRC) to combine the signals received at multiple antennas. For the considered system, we derive its connection outage probability and secrecy outage probability to characterize the reliability level and the security level, respectively. Numerical results are also provided to analyze the tradeoff among the reliability and security performances and the number of antennas (or nodes) of either receivers or eavesdroppers.

This paper concerns with the transmission of confidential data over Nakagami-m fading channels with three terminals-a sender, a receiver and an eavesdropper. Analysis of Secrecy Performance over Correlated η - µ Fading Channels

Milton Kumar Kundu, Abida Sultana Sumona, A. S. M. Badrudduza +1 more

In a multiple antenna network, correlation among the antennas tends to reduce the system capacity. In this paper, the effect of correlation on the secrecy performance over η - μ fading channel has been analyzed considering a multicast network in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers. Simple closed-form analytical expressions of the ergodic secrecy multicast capacity and the secure outage probability for multicasting are derived to numerically quantify the effect of correlation. The consequence of changing the number of receiving antennas on correlation has been observed and the secrecy performance of some commonly used channels like Gaussian channel, Rayleigh and Nakagami- m fading channels which can be found as a special case of the η - μ fading channel, have also been investigated. The derived expressions are finally verified through Monte-Carlo simulations.
