Abstract

This paper concerns with the transmission of confidential data over Nakagami-m fading channels with three terminals-a sender, a receiver and an eavesdropper. Considering the problem of secure communications between two nodes over a Nakagami-m fading channel in the presence of eavesdropper, we derive the closed-form expressions of the ergodic secrecy capacity and outage probability for two scenarios with and without channel state information at the transmitter.

Secrecy capacity of Nakagami-m fading wireless channels in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers

This paper is concerned with the transmission of confidential message through Nakagami-m fading wireless channel in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers. The eavesdroppers are mutually independent and the information is secure if it cannot be eavesdropped by any eavesdropper. Considering the problem of secret communications between two nodes over Nakagami-m fading channel where a number of eavesdroppers observes their transmissions through other Nakagami-m fading channels, we characterize the probability of non-zero secrecy capacity and secure outage probability to investigate the secrecy capacity in terms of secure outage probability. We also present a formulation of the ergodic secrecy capacity in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers.

On the Secrecy Mutual Information of Nakagami-m Fading SIMO Channel

M. Z. I. Sarkar, Tharmalingam Ratnarajah

In this paper, we consider the transmission of confidential message through non-identically and identically independent Nakagami-m fading single-input multiple-output (SIMO) channel in the presence of an eavesdropper. We are interested in protecting this message against eavesdropping i.e. the information is secure if it cannot be eavesdropped by any eavesdropper. Based on the problem of secure communications between transmitter and intended receiver over Nakagami-m fading channel where an eavesdropper observes their transmissions through another Nakagami-m fading channel, we derive the analytical expressions for the probability of non-zero secrecy mutual information, secure outage probability and ergodic secrecy mutual information of SIMO wireless communication systems over non-identically and identically independent Nakagami-m fading subchannels. Numerical results are presented and verified via Monte-Carlo simulation.

Security in Nakagami- m Fading Channel with Log-normal Shadowing

T. Kumer, M. Z. I. Sarkar, Dilip Kumar Sarker

In this paper, a confidential communication scenario is considered through composite Nakagami-m fading channel with log-normal shadowing in which a source communicates with a destination in the presence of an eavesdropper. Our study is concerned with the analysis of secrecy capacity and secure outage performance of Nakagami-m fading channel with shadowing. The performance of the proposed model is analyzed based on the closed-form expressions of the ergodic secrecy capacity, the probability of non-zero secrecy capacity and the secure outage probability using the Gauss-Hermite quadrature integration formula. Analytical results show that the shadowing effect significantly enhances the ergodic secrecy capacity of the proposed model.

Secure Communications over Wireless Networks

Md. Zahurul I. Sarkar

Nakagami-m fading channel is chosen to analyze the secrecy capacity for fading channels since the Nakagami-m distribution can model fading conditions, which are more or less severe than that of Rayleigh and has the advantage of including Rayleigh as a special case. At first, secrecy capacity is defined in case of full channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter, where transmitter has access to both the main channel and eavesdropper channel gains. Secondly, secrecy capacity is defined with only main channel CSI at the transmitter. Then, optimal power allocation at the transmitter that achieves the secrecy capacity is derived for both the cases. Moreover, secrecy capacity is defined under open-loop transmission scheme, and the exact closed form analytical expression for the lower bound of ergodic secrecy capacity is derived for Nakagami-m fading single-input multiple-output (SIMO) channel. In addition, secrecy capacity is defined for the AWGN channel in order to realize the information-theoretic security of wireless channels with no fading. Finally, analytical expressions for the probability of non-zero secrecy capacity and secure outage probability are derived in order to investigate the secure outage performance of fading channels.

Secrecy capacity of a Nakagami-m fading channel in the presence of cooperative eavesdroppers

Souad Belmoubarik, Ghassane Aniba, Belhaj Elgraini

Physical layer security helps enormously cryptography to improve the confidentiality of communications over wireless networks. Indeed, the secrecy capacity is used at the physical layer to ensure not only the security of communications but also to exploit efficiently the channel capacity. The principle of secrecy capacity is to characterize the maximum data transmission rate, that can be reached while the exchanged information is kept secret from a malicious entity. In this paper, we present a closed-form expression of outage probability and we specify the outage secrecy capacity of a Nakagami-m fading channel in the presence of cooperative correlated eavesdroppers performing the maximal ratio combining which helps the eavesdroppers to tap the maximum of the exchanged information between the transmitter and the legitimate receiver. Simulations results show that a raise in the number of the cooperative eavesdroppers degrades significantly the secrecy capacity of this communication system, moreover the correlation degree between the eavesdroppers has a negative impact on the communication confidentiality especially when it takes small values.

Security Against Multiple Eavesdroppers for Multicasting Over Nakagami-q Fading Channel

Abida Sultana Sumona, Milton Kumar Kundu, A. S. M. Badrudduza +1 more

A confidential multicasting scenario is considered through Nakagami-q fading channels in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers. We are interested to protect the confidential information so that no eavesdropper can decode any information from the multicast channels. A mathematical model is developed which consists of the closed-form analytical expressions for the ergodic secrecy multicast capacity and the secure outage probability for multicasting to ensure this security. Some numerical results are shown to justify the validity of the developed mathematical model. Moreover, the analytical expressions are verified via Monte-Carlo simulation.
