Abstract

A confidential multicasting scenario is considered through Nakagami-q fading channels in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers. We are interested to protect the confidential information so that no eavesdropper can decode any information from the multicast channels. A mathematical model is developed which consists of the closed-form analytical expressions for the ergodic secrecy multicast capacity and the secure outage probability for multicasting to ensure this security. Some numerical results are shown to justify the validity of the developed mathematical model. Moreover, the analytical expressions are verified via Monte-Carlo simulation.

Protection of Multicast Channels Against Multiple Eavesdroppers: A Secrecy Tradeoff

A. S. M. Badrudduza, M. Z. I. Sarkar, Milton Kumar Kundu

The conventional multicasting techniques do not ensure security for the destination users. This paper deals with the solution of this problem. A confidential communication scenario is proposed where a single antenna source communicates with a group of multicast users each with multiple antennas in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers each with multiple antennas. The key contribution of this paper is to provide a mathematical model consisting of the closed-form analytical expressions (CFAEs) for the probability of non-zero secrecy multicast capacity (PNSMC), secure outage probability for multicasting (SOPM) and the ergodic secrecy multicast capacity (ESMC) to obstruct the eavesdropper, so that no eavesdropper can decode any information from the multicast channels. Finally, the derived analytical expressions are verified via Monte-Carlo simulation.

Enhancing Security in Wireless Multicasting over k - µ Fading Channel

A. S. M. Badrudduza, Milton Kumar Kundu

In this paper, a secure wireless multicast network over k - μ fading channel is considered, where a source transmits secret information to a group of receivers. A group of eavesdroppers are also present in the network which are responsible for wiretapping the transmitted information. A perfect secrecy can be obtained if the eavesdroppers are not able to decode any information from the source. In order to investigate the secrecy capacity of the multicast network, at first a novel expression for Ergodic secrecy multicast capacity is derived in closed-form. The outage performance of the proposed network is analyzed obtaining the closed-form expressions of secure outage probability for multicasting. The effects of fading is determined and a beneficent insight is provided into investigating the secrecy performance of some other common fading scenarios such as Rician, Rayleigh, Nakagami-m, Gaussian etc. using the derived novel expressions of this paper. Monte-Carlo simulations are performed to validate the derived analytical expressions.

Enhancement of Physical Layer Security over Generalized Nakagami-mmm Fading Multicast Channel

Sarjana Shabab, A. S. M. Badrudduza, Milton Kumar Kundu

Multicasting over wireless channels is a challenging task now-a-days as conventional frameworks can not ensure the secrecy of transmitted information. Hence, in this paper, a secure multicast framework is presented over Generalized Nakagami-m fading channel in the appearance of multiple eavesdroppers and key concentration is given to the transmission of information at a secrecy rate so that no eavesdropper can decode any information from the multicast channels. The impact of the system parameters on the secrecy performance of proposed system is analyzed by obtaining closed-from mathematical expressions of some secrecy measures such as probability of nonzero secrecy multicast capacity and secure outage probability for multicasting. The generalization of the proposed model is achieved by obtaining Rayleigh, Nakagami- m, Gamma, Half-normal, Weibull, Exponential, etc. fading channels as a special case of Generalized Nakagami- m fading channel. Finally, the correctness of the derived expressions is authorized using Monte-Carlo simulations.

Secure Wireless Multicasting through Nakagami-m Fading Channels with Multi-Hop Relaying

Md Mizanur Rahman, Md. Zahurul I. Sarkar, Mohammad Mahmud Hasan

The additional diversity gain provided by the relays improves the secrecy capacity of communications system significantly. The multiple hops in the relaying system is an important technique to improve this diversity gain. The development of an analytical mathematical model of ensuring security in multicasting through fading channels incorporating this benefit of multi-hop relaying is still an open problem. Motivated by this issue, this paper considers a secure wireless multicasting scenario employing multi-hop relaying technique over frequency selective Nakagami-m fading channel and develops an analytical mathematical model to ensure the security against multiple eavesdroppers. This mathematical model has been developed based on the closed-form analytical expressions of the probability of non-zero secrecy multicast capacity (PNSMC) and the secure outage probability for multicasting (SOPM) to ensure the security in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers. Moreover, the effects of the fading parameter of multicast channel, the number of hops and eavesdropper are investigated. The results show that the security in multicasting through Nakagami-m fading channel with multi-hop relaying system is more sensitive to the number of hops and eavesdroppers. The fading of multicast channel helps to improve the secrecy multicast capacity and is not the enemy of security in multicasting.

Secure wireless multicasting through Nakagami-m fading MISO channel

Md. Zahurul I. Sarkar, Tharmalingam Ratnarajah

In the group-oriented applications such as military and commercial wireless cellular networks often require the same data to be conveyed to multiple users simultaneously. This technique is usually referred to as physical layer multicasting. In this paper, we consider the problem of secret communication over Nakagami-m fading multiple-input single-output (MISO) channel, where a single transmitter sends a common and confidential message to a group of receivers in the presence of an eavesdropper. We are interested in protecting this message from eavesdropping. At first, we define the secrecy multicast capacity for a K-receiver multicast channel at which the eavesdropper is unable to decode any information from the multicast channels and find the analytical expression for the lower bound of average secrecy multicast capacity. Then, we define the secrecy multicast capacity in terms of secure outage probability, and find the analytical expressions for the probability of non-zero secrecy multicast capacity and secure outage probability to study the outage behavior of the proposed model.

On the Enhancement of Secrecy Multicast Capacity over Κ - μ/IG Composite Fading Channel

Md. Shakhawat Hossen, A. S. M. Badrudduza, Abu Hanif +3 more

The confidentiality of wireless multicast network is notably compromised by the concurrent existence of shadowing and fading. To overcome this security threat, mathematical modeling of a multicast scenario is proposed in this paper over κ-μ/ inverse gamma (IG) composite fading channel where transmitted confidential information from source is under malicious attack of multiple eavesdroppers. The well-known physical layer security approach is adopted to analyze the impact of system parameters on secrecy performance in terms of novel expressions of secure outage probability for multicasting, probability of nonzero secrecy multicast capacity and ergodic secrecy multicast capacity. The generalization of security analysis is achieved by demonstrating Rayleigh, Rician, Nakagami-m, κ-μ fading and Gaussian channels as a special scenarios of κ-μ/IG distribution. At the end, analytical results are justified by performing Monte-Carlo Simulations.
