Abstract

It is shown that the fully anisotropic one-dimensional Kondo problem is exactly integrable. We obtain the energy of the ground state and that of elementary excitations in the thermodynamic limit. Connection with the eight-vertex model is also pointed out.

Exact Results for a Kondo Problem in a One-Dimensional t−J Model

Yupeng Wang, Jianhui Dai, Zhan-Ning Hu +1 more

We propose an integrable Kondo problem in a one-dimensional $t\ensuremath{-}J$ model. With the open boundary condition of the wave functions at the impurity sites, the model can be exactly solved via Bethe ansatz for a set of ${J}_{L,R}$ (Kondo coupling constants) and ${V}_{L,R}$ (impurity potentials) parametrized by a single parameter $c$. The integrable value of ${J}_{L,R}$ runs from negative infinity to positive infinity, which allows us to study both the ferromagnetic Kondo problem and the antiferromagnetic Kondo problem in a strongly correlated electron system. Generally, there is a residual entropy for the ground state, which indicates a typical non-Fermi liquid behavior.

Exact Perturbative Solution of the Kondo Problem

Paul Fendley, Hubert Saleur

We explicitly evaluate the infinite series of integrals that appear in the "Anderson-Yuval" reformulation of the anisotropic Kondo model in terms of a one-dimensional Coulomb gas. We do this by developing a general approach relating the anisotropic Kondo model of arbitrary spin with the boundary sine-Gordon model, which describes an impurity in a Luttinger liquid and tunneling in the fractional quantum Hall effect. The Kondo solution then follows from the exact perturbative solution of the latter model in terms of Jack polynomials.

Exact results for a Kondo impurity with electronic correlations

You‐Quan Li, P.-A. Barès

A one-dimensional model of a Kondo impurity with arbitrary spin in the presence of electronic correlations is solved exactly. The Bethe ansatz equations are obtained for the case of quadratic dispersion. The ground state is studied in the thermodynamic limit, and the magnetic susceptibility at zero temperature is calculated.

Integrable model of a one-dimensional anisotropic Kondo-like lattice

Igor N. Karnaukhov

A one-dimensional model of the modified Kondo lattice for $\ensuremath{\nu}$ degenerate conduction electrons interacting with the spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ $\mathrm{XXZ}$ Heisenberg chain is investigated. The model reduces to the $\mathrm{SU}(\ensuremath{\nu}+1)$-invariant anisotropic $t\ensuremath{-}J$ model with field splitting. The ground-state energy, the chemical potential, and the Fermi velocity of electrons have been calculated numerically for an arbitrary density of electrons. The model under consideration is characterized as a (marginal) Tomonago-Luttinger liquid described by $c=1$. We discuss the relevance of the results obtained to various theoretical treatments of the Kondo lattice model.

Exactly solvable multi-channel Kondo lattice model

C.-A. Piguet, D. F. Wang, C. Gruber

In this work, a multichannel Kondo lattice model is studied in the thermodynamic limit. The conduction band is described by a constant hopping amplitude between any pair of lattice sites. For this system, we have obtained the exact thermodynamical properties and the ground state energies. In the limit of strong interaction between the electrons and the impurity spins, the wavefunctions take the Jastrow product form.

Exact Results in the Kondo Problem. II. Scaling Theory, Qualitatively Correct Solution and Some New Results on One-Dimensional Classical Statistical Models

P.W. Anderson, G. Yuval, Donald R. Hamann

The simplest Kondo problem is treated exactly in the ferromagnetic case, and given exact bounds for the relevant physical properties in the antiferromagnetic case, by use of a Bcaling technique on an asymptotically exact expression for the ground-state properties given earlier. The theory also solves the n = 2 case of the one-dimensional Ising problem. The ferromagnetic case has a finite spin, while the antiferromagnetic case has no truly singular T → 0 properties (e.g., it has finite χ).

We propose an integrable Kondo problem in a one-dimensional $t\ensuremath{-}J$ model. With the open boundary condition of the wave functions at the impurity sites, the model can be exactly solved via Bethe ansatz for a set of JL,R{J}_{L,R}JL,R (Kondo coupling constants) and VL,R{V}_{L,R}VL,R (impurity potentials) parametrized by a single parameter ccc. The integrable value of JL,R{J}_{L,R}JL,R runs from negative infinity to positive infinity, which allows us to study both the ferromagnetic Kondo problem and the antiferromagnetic Kondo problem in a strongly correlated electron system. Generally, there is a residual entropy for the ground state, which indicates a typical non-Fermi liquid behavior.
