Spontaneous decay and superradiance in a two-dimensional resonance photonic crystal

The phase synchronization across a 2D resonance photonic crystal with lateral confinement of the radiation is predicted. This builds up an emission anisotropy and excitation transfer along the Bragg planes along with pronounced excitation localization.

Experimental demonstration of an all-optical analogue to the superradiance effect in an on-chip photonic crystal resonator system

We show that an all-optical analogue to the Dicke superradiance effect can be observed in on-chip photonic crystal resonator systems where two resonators are separated by a distance much longer than the wavelength of the optical resonators' resonance. In addition, we provide the experimental observation of structural tuning of the superradiance effect in micron-sized optical resonators in a silicon photonic crystal slab.

Optical superradiance in a crystal of biphenyl with pyrene

Sergei N. Andrianov, Самарцев Виталий Владимирович, Nataliya B. Silaeva +1 more

The results of theoretical and experimental superradiance studies in a pyrene-doped biphenyl crystal are presented. The superradiance nature of photon emission under certain conditions is experimentally proved for this crystal system. Experimental data fit the theory. The influence of induced radiation and of electron-phonon coupling on optical superradiance is theoretically investigated using the nonequilibrium statistical operator method. Possible superradiance applications are discussed, including coherent nonlinear spectroscopy, coherent electromagnetic pulse generation, and superradiant echo.

Photonic crystals modified by optically resonant systems

Philip J. Harding

We investigate light propagation in periodic nanoscale structures known as photonic crystals. The goal is to gain insight into how the propagation of light can be modified and exploited for uses in telecommunication, regenerative energy, quantum information processing and optical computing. To this end, we dope photonic crystals with optically resonant systems: systems which strongly modify light propagation.
