Abstract

Photon is desirable carrier for quantum information transfer owing to its robustness against decoherence mechanism during long-distance transmission. Currently, photon polarization is the primary method applied for quantum coding. In this paper, we realize remote state preparation (RSP) with photon polarization state through Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) entanglement. We give experimental proposals for our RSP schemes with optical devices including half wave plate (HWP), quarter wave plate (QWP), and Faraday mirror; then definitely get corresponding polarization for the second photon through detection of first photon with proper local operation and classical communication (LOCC). Descriptions of optical devices in real experiments are also discussed. This practical protocol can be applied for network infrastructure and distant communication.

Remote preparation of N photon GHZ polarization entangled states within a network

We propose a new linear optical protocol for remote state preparation (RSP) between two parties under control of a number of controllers in terms of optical elements. The proposed setup involves simple linear optical elements, a N-photon polarization entangled state, and photon de tectors, witch have been widely used in experiment. The realization of this protocol is appealing due to the fact that quantum state of light is robust against the decoherence and photons are ideal carriers for transmitting quantum information over long distances.

Remote preparation of a general single-photon hybrid state

Meiyu Wang, Yuhong Zheng, Liangxue Fu +2 more

We present a technique for remotely preparing an arbitrary single-photon hybrid state between two distant nodes. This remote state preparation (RSP) is accomplished with a hyper-entangled state in polarization and time-bin degrees of freedom (DoFs) using some experimentally available optical elements and devices. In our RSP, the sender performs unitary operations on her hyper-entangled photon in accordance with her knowledge of the desired state to be transmitted. By performing a single-photon projective measurement and classical communication, the target state will be reconstructed at the remote receiver’s quantum system. Furthermore, we discuss the RSP via a partially hyper-entangled state. We expect our study can pave the way towards the investigation of long-distance quantum communication scenarios.

Remote state preparation and operation for photons

Guo‐Yong Xiang, Jian Li, Guang‐Can Guo

Remote state preparation and remote operation are entanglement assisted protocols in quantum information process, here we present a practical and general scheme of remote preparation for pure and mixed state, in which an auxiliary qubit and controlled-NOT gate are used. We give an experimental scheme of the quantum remote operation on single photons, where the unitary operation is restricted to the sets Ucom or Uanti. We discuss the remote state preparation (RSP) in two important types of decoherent channel (depolarizing and dephaseing). In our experiment, we realize RSP in the dephaseing channel by using spontaneous parametric down conversion (SPDC), linear optical elements and single photon detector.

Remote preparation for single-photon state in two degrees of freedom with hyper-entangled states

Mei-Yu Wang, Fengli Yan, Ting Gao

Remote state preparation (RSP) provides a useful way of transferring quantum information between two distant nodes based on the previously shared entanglement. In this paper, we study RSP of an arbitrary single-photon state in two degrees of freedom (DoFs). Using hyper-entanglement as a shared resource, our first goal is to remotely prepare the single-photon state in polarization and frequency DoFs and the second one is to reconstruct the single-photon state in polarization and time-bin DoFs. In the RSP process, the sender will rotate the quantum state in each DoF of the photon according to the knowledge of the state to be communicated. By performing a projective measurement on the polarization of the sender’s photon, the original single-photon state in two DoFs can be remotely reconstructed at the receiver’s quantum systems. This work demonstrates a novel capability for longdistance quantum communication.

Experimental multilocation remote state preparation

Magnus Rådmark, Marcin Wieśniak, Marek Żukowski +1 more

Transmission of quantum states is a central task in quantum information science. Remote state preparation (RSP) has the same goal as teleportation, i.e., transferring quantum information without sending physically the information carrier, but in RSP the sender knows the state which is to be transmitted. We present experimental demonstrations of RSP for two and three locations. In our experimental scheme Alice (the preparer) and her three partners share four and six photon polarization entangled singlets. This allows us to perform RSP of two or three copies of a single-qubit state, a two-qubit Bell state, and a three-qubit $W$, or $\overline{W}$ state. A possibility to prepare two-qubit nonmaximally entangled and GHZ states is also discussed. The ability to remotely prepare an entangled states by local projections at Alice is a distinguishing feature of our scheme.
