Equation of State and Thermodynamic Functions of the Ising-like Magnet at $T>T_c$

Mykhailo P. Kozlovskii, O. O. Prytula

The 3D Ising-like system in the external field is described using the non-perturbative collective variables method. The universal as well as nonuniversal system characteristics are obtained within the framework of this approach. The calculations are carried out on the microscopic level starting from the Hamiltonian. They are valid in the whole $h-T$ plane of the critical region. It is established, that the contributions related with wave vector values $\vk\to0$ exhibit the properties of the total system near the critical point. The behaviour of the susceptibility as function of the temperature in the presence of the field is investigated. The locations of the maximums susceptibility on the temperature scale for different values of the field are established.

Solution of the two-atom Tavis-Cummings model having different couplings and detunings with an application to the study of the influence of noise on quantum behaviour

G. L. Deçordi, A. Vidiella-Barranco

In this paper we present an exact analytical solution of the two-atom Tavis-Cummings model in which the constituent atoms are coupled with different strengths to the field and having different atom-field frequency detuning. As an application, we investigate some aspects of the dynamics of our system of interest: one of the atoms (atom 1) coupled with one mode of the cavity field. The remaining atom (atom 2) is treated as an external, noisy system (environment) which is assumed to be in a highly mixed state. We analyze properties such as linear entropy and atomic dipole squeezing of atom 1, and we show that, although in general the action of the external system (atom 2) has a destructive effect, the quantum behaviour of the system of interest may be restored if the field is sufficiently detuned from the atomic resonance of atom 2, the environment.

Disordered magnetic impurities in uniaxial critical quantum spin chains

Andreas Klümper, Andrei A. Zvyagin

We calculate exactly the thermodynamics of ensembles of magnetic impurities with randomly distributed host-impurity couplings in the critical region of the uniaxial spin-1/2 quantum chain. We derive a finite set of integral equations describing the complete temperature and magnetic field dependence of the system. Exact numerical results for arbitrary values of temperature and external magnetic field are obtained. We show that for strong disorder the quenching of the impurity moments is absent. For weak disorder the screening persists, but with a critical non-Fermi-liquid behaviour of the magnetic susceptibility and specific heat. We point out that the `easy-plane' magnetic anisotropy does not qualitatively change the behaviour of the thermodynamic characteristics of the disordered impurities in the antiferromagnetic chain. On the other hand, anisotropy of ferromagnetic type can enhance the tendency to quenching of the impurities for strong disorder.
