Abstract

A known idea of phase memory based on the optical transient phenomenas in the technician of photon echo is developed in this paper. The results of studies of superslow transient biosystem processes in the technician of shaping the new type echo-response and its characteristics earlier not known are offered.

Phase memory in conditions of optical instability development

Askhat M Basharov, Nikolay V Znamenskiy

Regularities in the transformation of optical coherence in the model three-level system, resulting from instability development and emission of a superradiance pulse, are considered. It is shown that the superradiance eliminates optical coherence on the adjacent optically allowed transitions and induces optical coherence on the optically forbidden transition. This, in turn, makes it possible to observe new effects of photon-echo type, some of which are described in the present paper.

Possibilities of the using of a photon echo (PE) phenomena at the creation of informational-measuring systems of the speed control of an internal ballistic motion of a gas, of a visual control branch types of quantum transition of the molecular gas by a peak-temporary shape of a photon echo, and of distance measurement are discussed. The influence of lunar cycle phases to the process of formation of an echo-response is shown on an example of research of an echo-dielectric permeability, registered in a water physiological solution of chloride natrium.

Application of the Photon Echo in a Gas Medium for Data Writing, Storage, and Processing

Igor V. Yevseyev, Valery M. Yermachenko, Самарцев Виталий Владимирович

As it was emphasized several times above, the phenomenon of the photon echo is an optical analog of the spin echo that has been discovered [ 1 ] about a decade earlier. That is why many ideas from the theory of the spin echo has been transferred to the theory of the photon echo and appeared to be fruitful there. One of these ideas put forward by Fernbach and Proctor [ 2 ] is the idea of the possibility of the use of the phenomenon of the spin echo for writing, storage, and processing of the data. The authors [ 2 ] determined the conditions under which the signals of the spin and stimulated spin echo can reproduce (direct or time-reversed) shape of one of the exciting pulses. The theoretical analysis was proved by the corresponding experiments.

Phase matching memory effect in optical coherent transient effects

José Soto M.

It has been generally accepted that the off-resonance heterodyne optical field in Stark-switching and frequency-switching techniques does not have any measurable influence in photon echo and other related experiments. In this work we present theoretical and experimental evidence that through a previously unknown memory effect the heterodyne field produces important undulations in the decay curves of photon echo. This effect appears to be also responsible for other experimental anomalies observed in optical coherent transient effects.1

Self-induced three-level echo

Ashat M. Basharov

A new type of three-level photon echo has been predicted and analytically described. In contrast to the conventional three-level echo, whose formation involves three resonant ultrashort excitation pulses spaced in time, two of which are resonant to different optically allowed and adjacent transitions with different frequencies, the echo predicted arises under the conditions of formation of the conventional two-pulse echo and requires only two pump pulses of the same frequency. A theory is developed for the conditions of experiments on generation of a superradiance pulse at the 3 P 0-3 H 6 transition in impurity praseodymium ions in the LaF3 matrix upon ultrashort coherent excitation of the adjacent optically allowed 3 H 4-3 P 0 transition in praseodymium. It is shown that the superradiance pulse after its deexcitation does not polarize the medium at the 3 P 0-3 H 6 generation transition and completely eliminates polarization at the 3 H 4-3 P 0 excitation transition. However, simultaneously, the superradiance pulse transfers the optical coherence from the excitation transition to the optically forbidden 3 H 6-3 H 4 transition. Thus, the phase memory about the effect of the excitation superradiance pulse is retained in the medium within a time interval that is shorter than the irreversible relaxation time of the optically forbidden transition.
