Abstract

The population transfer in effective three-state systems driven by laser beams has been studied based on the theory of Lewis–Riesenfeld Hermitian invariants in the full- and partial-adiabatic approximations. A strict formulation of adiabatic conditions is given and a new adiabatic condition for inducing a complete population transfer is found.

Realization of adiabatic population transfer in a three-level system by using LR Hermitian invariants theory

Zhao Hua, Gao Ying‐Fang, Liang Jiu-Qing

We have studied the population transfer in a three-state system driven by laser beams in terms of the theory of Lewis–Riesenfeld Hermitian invariants for explicitly time-dependent Hamiltonian. The exact solutions obtained allow us to recover two existing schemes producing complete population transfer in the literature, i.e. the π-pulse and stimulated Raman adiabatic passage methods in our unified description. We present a strict formulation of adiabatic conditions and a more accurate expression of the π-pulse method according to the exact time-evolution of state vector.

Adiabatic passage in three levels closed-loop systems with chirped lasers pulses

Abstract This study demonstrates complete adiabatic population transfer in a closed three-level atomic system using chirped laser pulses. By satisfying the three-photon resonance condition, we effectively mitigate the first-order Doppler effect. Under the assumption of weak coupling between the stable levels, we show that relative phase fluctuations of the lasers exert a negligible influence on the population dynamics during the transfer process. A comprehensive analysis of the system parameters is conducted to determine the optimal conditions for achieving 100% population transfer while minimizing the excited state population

Adiabatic population transfer in a multilevel system

P. Pillet, Constance Valentin, Ruixia Yuan +1 more

We report an experimental observation of coherent population transfer in a multilevel system by adiabatic following through a trapped state. Raman transitions between ground-state sublevels are induced by two partially overlapping ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\sigma}}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$ polarized laser beams, tuned to the hyperfine transition F=4\ensuremath{\rightarrow}F'=4 of the cesium ${\mathit{D}}_{2}$ line. An efficiency of more than 50% is observed for the ${\mathit{m}}_{\mathit{F}}$=+4\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathit{m}}_{\mathit{F}}$=-4 population transfer. The influence of other excited hyperfine levels on the transfer efficiency is pointed out. The feasibility of the technique with counterpropagating laser beams is also demonstrated.

Adiabatic population transfer in a three-level system driven by delayed laser pulses

J. R. Kukliński, U. Gaubatz, F. T. Hioe +1 more

We give a simple analytic solution that describes a novel method for population transfer in a three-level system driven by delayed pulses and which accounts for recent experimental results. This solution describes a procedure that is counterintuitive, and yet it is shown to be, in fact, one of the simplest solutions for multilevel systems arising from the adiabatic theorem. Its possible application to many-level systems is suggested.

Numerical simulation of population transfer of three-level system

It is possible to prepare atoms or molecules in a selected excited state, one efficient way is to transfer population by stimulated-Raman-adiabatic-passage, but must understand off-resonant effects in coherent excitation in order to improve the efficient of transfer. Here, consider the transfer of population in a three-level system of stimulated-Raman- adiabatic-passage with computer analysis. The transfer efficiency of two-photon resonant is worked out and the outcome demonstrates the possibility of complete transfer. Also analysis the effect of two-photon off-resonant, single-photon off-resonant and difference of laser's intension.

Ultrafast population transfer in a three-level system driven by the chirped Gauss femtosecond pulse

Fan Xi-jun

The ultrafast particle population transfer in a ■-type three-level atomic system driven by linearly polarized chirped Gauss femtosecond laser pulse is investigated by using numerical solution of the Schrdinger equation without the rotating wave approximation(RWA).It is shown that the population transfer is mainly determined by the Rabi frequency(intensity) of the driving laser field and chirp rate, and the ratio of two dipole moments and the pulse width also have obvious effect on the population transfer.By choosing suitable values of the above parameters, nearly complete population transfer(99.6%) can be realized.
