SCHEME FOR GENERATION OF GREENBERGER-HORNE-ZEILINGER STATES OF REMOTE ATOMS TRAPPED IN SEPARATE OPTICAL CAVITIES

Abstract

We propose a scheme for generating maximally entangled states for three atoms trapped in three distant cavities connected by two identical single-mode fibers. During the operation, neither the atomic system nor the fibers are excited, which is important in view of decoherence. Under certain conditions, the probability of the excited cavities can be negligible. Taking advantage of adiabatic passage, the GHZ state can be generated deterministically, and the fidelity of entanglement is insensitive to fluctuation of experimental parameters. Compared to the previous schemes, the significant advantage of the proposed scheme is that each cavity can interact with the other two directly, which can avoid the effect of indirect interaction brought about using only local quantum operator and nonlocal resources.

Deterministic generation of three-dimensional entanglement for two atoms separately trapped in two optical cavities

Sai-Yun Ye, Zhi‐Rong Zhong, Shi‐Biao Zheng

A scheme is proposed for the deterministic generation of three-dimensional entanglement of two distant atoms separately trapped in two optical cavities connected by an optical fiber. Employing adiabatic passage along dark states, the atoms are always in ground states, in particular, the fiber mode remains in the vacuum state due to the quantum destructive interference, and the population of the cavities being excited can be negligible under certain conditions. In this sense, our scheme constructs an effective way to avoid the atomic spontaneous emission and the decays of fiber and cavities.

Deterministic generation of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger and W states for three distant atoms via adiabatic passage

We propose two schemes for generating Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger and W states of three distant atoms. In the present schemes, the atoms are individually trapped in three spatially separated optical cavities coupled by two optical fibres. Performing an adiabatic passage along dark states, the population of cavities and fibres excited is negligible under certain conditions. In addition, the spontaneous decay of atoms is also efficiently suppressed based on our proposals. Furthermore, the discussion about the entanglement fidelity is given and we point out that our schemes work robustly with small fluctuations of experimental parameters.

Multi-Atom Entanglement Engineering in Distant Cavities via Resonant Interaction

Zhong Zhi-Rong

We propose a scheme for the generation of entangled states for multiple atoms trapped in three distant cavities connected by two identical single-mode fibers. Compared with the previous schemes, the distinct advantages of the proposed scheme are: First, all the cavities in the proposed protocol can interact with each other freely, which is important in quantum communication and distributed quantum computation. Secondly, in the scheme, the atoms, cavities, and fiber mode are in resonance. Thus, the required interaction time is short, which is important in view of decoherence. In principle, the proposed scheme can be extended to generate n atoms entangled states.

One-step generation of multiatom Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states in separate cavities via adiabatic passage

Si-Yang Hao, Yan Xia, Jie Song +1 more

We propose a scheme to deterministically generate Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states of N≥3 atoms trapped in spatially separated cavities connected by optical fibers. The scheme is based on the technique of fractional stimulated Raman adiabatic passage, which is a one-step technique in the sense that one needs only to wait for the desired entangled state to be generated in the stationary regime. The parametrized shapes of the Rabi frequencies of the classical fields that drive the two end atoms are chosen appropriately to realize the scheme. We also show numerically that the proposed scheme is insensitive to fluctuations of the pulses’ parameters and, at the same time, that it is robust against decoherence caused by the dissipation due to fiber decay. Moreover, a relatively high fidelity can be obtained even in the presence of cavity decay and atomic spontaneous emission.

Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger state generation of three atoms trapped in two remote cavities

Yan‐Ling Li, Mao-Fa Fang, Xing Mao Xiao +2 more

We consider a system composed of a single-atom-trapped cavity (A) and a remote two-atom-trapped cavity (B) which are connected by an optical fibre. It is shown that a shared Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) state of the three atoms can be deterministically generated by controlling the time of interaction or via the adiabatic passage based on this system. The influence of various decoherence processes such as spontaneous emission and photon loss on the fidelity is also investigated. It is found that our schemes can be realized with high fidelity even when these decoherence processes are considered.

One-Step Generation of Maximally Entangled States for Three Atoms Trapped in Separated Cavities

LU Dao-ming, Shi-Biao Zheng

We propose a scheme for implementing Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states for three atoms trapped in distant cavities connected by optical fibers. Under the large detuning condition, the three distant atoms are coupled via four-photon processes induced by the vacuum bosonic modes and a classical field, leading to a phase shift proportional to the square of the atomic population in a certain state. During the process, the atoms do not undergo any real transition, the cavity modes and the fiber mode are only virtually excited, and the three-atom entanglement is produced in one step.
