Abstract

We consider a system composed of a single-atom-trapped cavity (A) and a remote two-atom-trapped cavity (B) which are connected by an optical fibre. It is shown that a shared Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) state of the three atoms can be deterministically generated by controlling the time of interaction or via the adiabatic passage based on this system. The influence of various decoherence processes such as spontaneous emission and photon loss on the fidelity is also investigated. It is found that our schemes can be realized with high fidelity even when these decoherence processes are considered.

Generation of an N-qubit Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger state with distant atoms in bimodal cavities

Anshou Zheng, Ji-Bing Liu

A selective photon scheme is proposed to realize an N-qubit Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) state with distant atoms trapped in spatially separated bimodal cavities coupled by optical fibres. The influence of deviations of some experimental parameters on our scheme is studied exactly and we prove that a highly reliable GHZ state is achievable. Moreover, we analyse the independence of fidelity on decoherence processes, such as atomic spontaneous emission, cavity decay and fibre losses. The results show that atomic spontaneous emission and fibre losses can be ignored in some special cases. With regards to the cavity decay, it indicates that a GHZ state with high fidelity may be realized in the current experiment.

Generation of W n state with three atoms trapped in two remote cavities coupled by an optical fibre

Yan‐Ling Li, Mao-Fa Fang

We propose two schemes for the generation of the Wn state with three atoms separately trapped in two distant cavities coupled by an optical fibre. One is implemented by controlling the interaction time, the other is implemented via the adiabatic passage. The influence of various decoherence processes, such as spontaneous emission of the atoms and photon leakages of the cavities and the optical fibre, on the fidelity is also investigated. It is found that the Wn state can be generated with high fidelity even when these decoherence processes are present.

Deterministic generation of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger and W states for three distant atoms via adiabatic passage

We propose two schemes for generating Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger and W states of three distant atoms. In the present schemes, the atoms are individually trapped in three spatially separated optical cavities coupled by two optical fibres. Performing an adiabatic passage along dark states, the population of cavities and fibres excited is negligible under certain conditions. In addition, the spontaneous decay of atoms is also efficiently suppressed based on our proposals. Furthermore, the discussion about the entanglement fidelity is given and we point out that our schemes work robustly with small fluctuations of experimental parameters.

One-step generation of multiatom Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states in separate cavities via adiabatic passage

Si-Yang Hao, Yan Xia, Jie Song +1 more

We propose a scheme to deterministically generate Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states of N≥3 atoms trapped in spatially separated cavities connected by optical fibers. The scheme is based on the technique of fractional stimulated Raman adiabatic passage, which is a one-step technique in the sense that one needs only to wait for the desired entangled state to be generated in the stationary regime. The parametrized shapes of the Rabi frequencies of the classical fields that drive the two end atoms are chosen appropriately to realize the scheme. We also show numerically that the proposed scheme is insensitive to fluctuations of the pulses’ parameters and, at the same time, that it is robust against decoherence caused by the dissipation due to fiber decay. Moreover, a relatively high fidelity can be obtained even in the presence of cavity decay and atomic spontaneous emission.

Effective scheme for preparation of multi-atom Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states in coupled cavities via adiabatic passage

Si-Yang Hao, Yan Xia, Jie Song

A scheme is proposed to deterministically generate multi-atom Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) states trapped in coupled cavities, which is based on the adiabatic passage of the dark state. The scheme does not need to adjust the interaction time accurately and is insensitive to the fluctuations of some experimental parameters. However, we should choose the appropriate Rabi frequencies of the classical fields to achieve the optimal characteristic of the system. In addition, we also demonstrate numerically that it is robust against decoherence caused by the cavity decay and atomic spontaneous emission.

Generation of four-atom Greenberger—Horn—Zeilinger state via adiabatic passage

Chun‐Ling Zhang, Mei-Feng Chen

We propose a scheme to generate a Greenberger—Horn—Zeilinger (GHZ) state of four atoms trapped in a two-mode optical cavity via an adiabatic passage. The scheme is robust against moderate fluctuations of the experimental parameters. Numerical calculations show that the excited probabilities of both the cavity modes and the atoms are tiny and depend on the pulse peaks of the classical laser fields. For certain decoherence due to the atomic spontaneous emission and the cavity decay, there exits a range of pulse peaks to get a high fidelity.
