Abstract

A selective photon scheme is proposed to realize an N-qubit Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) state with distant atoms trapped in spatially separated bimodal cavities coupled by optical fibres. The influence of deviations of some experimental parameters on our scheme is studied exactly and we prove that a highly reliable GHZ state is achievable. Moreover, we analyse the independence of fidelity on decoherence processes, such as atomic spontaneous emission, cavity decay and fibre losses. The results show that atomic spontaneous emission and fibre losses can be ignored in some special cases. With regards to the cavity decay, it indicates that a GHZ state with high fidelity may be realized in the current experiment.

Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger state generation of three atoms trapped in two remote cavities

Yan‐Ling Li, Mao-Fa Fang, Xing Mao Xiao +2 more

We consider a system composed of a single-atom-trapped cavity (A) and a remote two-atom-trapped cavity (B) which are connected by an optical fibre. It is shown that a shared Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) state of the three atoms can be deterministically generated by controlling the time of interaction or via the adiabatic passage based on this system. The influence of various decoherence processes such as spontaneous emission and photon loss on the fidelity is also investigated. It is found that our schemes can be realized with high fidelity even when these decoherence processes are considered.

Deterministic generation of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger and W states for three distant atoms via adiabatic passage

Peijun Song, Xin‐You Lü, Liu-Gang Si +1 more

We propose two schemes for generating Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger and W states of three distant atoms. In the present schemes, the atoms are individually trapped in three spatially separated optical cavities coupled by two optical fibres. Performing an adiabatic passage along dark states, the population of cavities and fibres excited is negligible under certain conditions. In addition, the spontaneous decay of atoms is also efficiently suppressed based on our proposals. Furthermore, the discussion about the entanglement fidelity is given and we point out that our schemes work robustly with small fluctuations of experimental parameters.

Achieving multipartite entanglement of distant atoms through selective photon emission and absorption processes

Xin‐You Lü, Liu-Gang Si, Xiangying Hao +1 more

We propose two schemes for deterministically generating three-partite Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) and $W$ states of distant atoms based on the selective photon emission and absorption processes. In our schemes, it is found that the effects of atomic spontaneous decay and photon leakage out of fiber are suppressed effectively due to the presences of dispersive atom-field interaction and strong cavity-fiber coupling intensity. To check the experimental feasibility of our schemes, we also numerically simulated the effects of photon leakage out of the cavities, and the numerical simulation shows that our proposal is good enough to demonstrate the generation of three-partite GHZ and $W$ states of distant atoms with high fidelity. In addition, the present schemes can also be generalized to prepare N-partite $W$ state of distant atoms.

One-step deterministic generation ofN-atom Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states in separate coupled cavities via quantum Zeno dynamics

Wu‐Jiang Shan, Ye‐Hong Chen, Yan Xia +1 more

We propose an efficient scheme for deterministic generating N-atom Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) states in separate coupled cavities connected by optical fibers based on quantum Zeno dynamics only by one-step manipulation. Firstly, we discuss the generation of three-atom GHZ states in separate cavities. Then, the scheme is directly generalized to N-atom case without increasing new operations in experiment. The influence of decoherence induced by atomic spontaneous emission and the fibers and cavities losses is discussed by numerical calculation. The results show that the scheme is insensitive to the optical fibers decay due to a tiny excitation probability of the optical fibers during the operation.

Direct conversion of a three-atom W state to a Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger state in spatially separated cavities

Guoyuan Wang, Dongyang Wang, Wen‐Xue Cui +3 more

Abstract State conversion between the Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) state and the W state is a challenging open problem because these states cannot be converted to each other by just local operations and classical communication. Here we propose a cavity quantum electrodynamics method based on interference of polarized photons emitted by the atoms trapped in spatially separated optical cavities that can convert a three-atom W state to a GHZ state. We calculate the success probability and fidelity of the converted GHZ state when the cavity decay, spontaneous atomic decay and photon leakage of the cavities are taken into account for a practical system, which shows that the proposed scheme is feasible and within the reach of current experimental technology.

Effective scheme for preparation of multi-atom Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states in coupled cavities via adiabatic passage

Si-Yang Hao, Yan Xia, Jie Song

A scheme is proposed to deterministically generate multi-atom Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) states trapped in coupled cavities, which is based on the adiabatic passage of the dark state. The scheme does not need to adjust the interaction time accurately and is insensitive to the fluctuations of some experimental parameters. However, we should choose the appropriate Rabi frequencies of the classical fields to achieve the optimal characteristic of the system. In addition, we also demonstrate numerically that it is robust against decoherence caused by the cavity decay and atomic spontaneous emission.
